    Amazing Rig. I have a question about the Tilta Power Plate on the back of the Camera. Is it safe to power all other accessories from the same plate while using to power the Camera? I heard that Red does not recommend this. please can you help? Thank you

    • @LarsGoldbachDP
      @LarsGoldbachDP  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thanks mate.
      I dont have any issues so far. The plate passes through unregulated power from the vmount. I just use one Dtap, all the other connectors are lemos.
      My knowledge in terms of electricity is quite limited haha

    • @nexttvc
      @nexttvc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LarsGoldbachDP Thank you. Really great video you made. I love it. still looking for a solution about D-tap. cable. I am also very limited about electricity. Are Lemons are safer than D-Tap?

    • @canna2815
      @canna2815 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tilta power plate is not RED-Approved, any issues that occur stemming from the plate will void your Komodo warranty, most other plates in the market are approved. Powering accessories using D-tap is also not recommended for most accessories (Especially your mon) as there is a chance you burn your SDI, unless you have a surge protector or similar between this connection.

    Very nice setup man, it is so small, but versatile. I was wondering why you have connected the SDI cable without having powered everything on, to obtain a closed circuit and not frying your SDI port? Maybe I missed that part out.

    • @LarsGoldbachDP
      @LarsGoldbachDP  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!
      Didn't have any type of issue yet with that route tbh. I assume also through using the Lemo splitters, but I can be wrong.

  • @MichiFHK
    @MichiFHK 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Lars! Great build I was just wondering what are the advantages of using the power breakouts instead of the battery adapter ports for this specific build? Looks like you could have powered everything directly from the four ports on the Tilta adapter even when sacrificing one D-Tap port in order to get the voltage meter reading and use your clever "hot swap" idea. It'd be great to know for my upcoming build! Thanks a great job!

    • @LarsGoldbachDP
      @LarsGoldbachDP  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Michi, it's mostly for streamlining (I wouldn't like to have 4 cables running down the entire length of the camera and sometimes it can be possible to get rid of the vmount plate for size reasons) and (almost) exclusively using 2pin Lemo for accessories.
      Other than that the plate offers 4 outputs as you mentioned but in some instances I have the need to power more than 4 devices.

      Hi Liam,
      there are different brands building quality 12G cables. Just check Instagram or your local cinema suppliers. I bought custom cables in Germany and this possiblility might not apply to you whereever you live.
      Ignite Digi Australia offer proper cables if you don't mind to import.
      Length wise it depends on how you're building the camera. From 10cm to 1m everything could be possible.
