    • @ΒΞΔΝ
      @ΒΞΔΝ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      @Matt Tinkelman Say what you will, but what Vinnie did in the early 90's with JMT is kind of legendary, and he is a pioneer of independent underground hip hop. One of the first groups to blow without a major label to back them, and he put on many talented people over the years.

    • @ΒΞΔΝ
      @ΒΞΔΝ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @Matt Tinkelman You can look at it that way i suppose, or you can see it for what it is. The way I see it is Vin was smarter than the few that hate him now. Vinnie managed tours, albums, production, ect. With so many hands out it's hard to please everyone for a long period of time. Guys like King Mag, Dez, Doap, ect still acting like goons into their 40's. Vinnie is not going to let others ruin what he built. I actually have some deep insight into that scene being friends with Esoteric, and know quite a bit of behind the scenes with the recent beefs. The truth is the vast majority of his peers highly respect him, and treat him like a blood brother for a reason. You see it all the time in life with people who only care for themselves, they will act like they love you until you cannot give to them anymore, and then it turns to hate instead of appreciation for what was done. The "using" was coming from the other end.

    • @ΒΞΔΝ
      @ΒΞΔΝ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Matt Tinkelman You right about some of his unoriginality for sure. He has been known to use things he did not create on more than one occasion, and that is what most of the beef is over. There were lots of handshake agreements that got turned on for both sides, from album art, to verses on albums, tour dates, features, and more. I can also agree it's mostly gimmick with any of the horrorcore shit he creates, but let's be honest only probably 5% of any rappers live the lyrics throughout time when it comes to gangster shit right up to the biggest names. I am much more of a fan of his heartfelt songs over the AOTP stuff or bangers on his recent solo albums that is all gimmick. I cannot argue that point, but from what I hear his heart has always been in the right place, and never set out to rise himself over others. I only met him once, and def do not know him on a personal level what so ever, but from all the stories I have heard over the years about him from working the Boston club scene as security he's not a bad person.

      Unfortunately "Mumble Rap" isn't going anywhere. It started in 2011-2012 and its almost 2020 in a couple of years. You fail to realize that Hip-Hop is still a "Young Mans Sport". It's reflective of the youth & generation. No matter how degenerative or dysfunctional it is. Many of the new wave of rapper cite these rappers as their influence:
      1)Chief Keef (Keep in mind he's still only 21-22)
      2)Gucci Mane
      3)Lil' B
      4)Lil' Wayne
      5)Waka Flocka Flame
      Note: Honorable Mention - Soulja Boy
      Now take the names I mentioned. And the music of the "new wave" which influences the culture of today. The next wave of rappers will be just as bad or worst than the current generation of rappers. You will see a new wave of "Lil' Pumps, 6ix9ines, and Xxxtentacions" in the next ten years. It's best to find another genre or literally find artist who still have substance, if you still can find any after 2020.

      End of Days is silly garbage. The crazy part to me is a lot of these mumble rappers can actually rap if they wanted to. An example I was given by killer mike is future. He told me and my people one time having this same discussion that future was a rappers rapper. Straight spitter but he never went anywhere with it. Started the auto tune lean shit and blew up 🤷🏻‍♂️. Part of the problem is record labels. Part ot the problem is radio stations. Part of the problem is lack of culture. Part of the problem is lack of originality. Hip hop wasn't always meant to be "cool" hip hop was meant to spread a message. Meant to educate in a different way in which most people can relate with. Radio staions and governments doesn't want rappers speaking truth and wisdom. They don't want the youth growing up with knowledge. They want sheep.

    The wack music back in the day was usually recognized as silliness even during it's time and made fun of, aside from a few one hit wonders. Never was the wack music all that was played on the radio, all that was talked about in the music press and all that won any awards. Never was the only good music underground or indie. This is definitely a new phenomenon, primarily brought on by the fact that 20 somethings don't buy albums, in fact no one buys albums. It's all streaming ad revenue, and who has the time to stream constantly? 11-16 year olds using their parents' internet subscription. This is why modern music is geared toward children with underdeveloped frontal lobes as opposed to the 18-34 demographic like it always had been in the past.

    I love how level-headed he is about it. So many people talking shit about mumble rap in the comments, but it is what it is. Even Vinnie can see it's just the new wave for this next generation of kids. Don't worry about what they're doing and support the music you DO love

    • @AlbanianThrash
      @AlbanianThrash 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's def a generational thing and i'm glad he acknowledges that. you get older and you don't like the same shit anymore. or the new shit doesn't appeal to you because you're not 20 anymore. it's ok to get old gracefully and not try to feebly cling to your youth and not really understand what the kids are into anymore

    As a humble enjoyer of hip-hop, I have listened through multiple generations on rap and never felt like any new style was better or worse, just different. Mumble rap sucks, it is worse. It's what happens when rap culture starts leading the product rather than the rap leading the culture. It's the classic carriage leading the horse situation.

      Ok, but here's something you miss, something happening currently isn't necessarily the new paradigm, it's just a trend. Where is disco? A dead genre. Where is New Wave? Dead genre. In a couple years mumble rap will be a dead subgenre and things will move on, rap will not just sound like this now hahaha

    • @bboyfan22
      @bboyfan22 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Skrooge Lantay nah, because at least gangsta rap had substance and craftsmanship to it. Mumble rap is literally just niggas getting high and mumbling while more talented people produce the beat and engineer the song into something listenable

    • @Atriotic
      @Atriotic 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Skrooge Lantay yes of course you can bring that up but at least gangster rap has actual fucking words to it, they have a subject matter to their songs and their lines actually rhyme which is what raps about. rhythm and poetry is what rap stands for. there’s nothing at all poetic about some brain dead junkie with face tatts and coloured hair acting all feminine mumbling about the same shit in every song.

    Notice Vinnie rarely if ever talks about himself. Yet imo is one of the most phenomenal MC's of his era. Maybe even the most underated along with RA. Interview is refreshing and reinforces exactly why I like Vinnie and Jedi Mind Tricks. Talented and humble dude, who has many personal issues, but has the inner strength to overcome them and perform for us. Maybe an interview with Rugged Man in the future Mr. Rogan? 🤞

      Luda was a great rapper who had lyrics but he had a lot of party anthems so people lump him with the rapper who dont care about the craft. Nelly wasnt a great lyricist & didnt have skill as an MC at all but his melodies were really good & he crafted great songs that had structure in it even though he was nothing more than a pop rapper, Hot in Here & Coutry Grammy are more organic records that have structure in it compared to a repetitive Gucci Gang song like Lil Pump that sounds obnoxious

      Degofhas what? If someone could take 10 seconds to compare Swedish and Danish, you would be able to hear the alphabet in Swedish words.
      Meanwhile, Danish, sounds literally like someone has a BBC down their throat. You can never sort out the words. Its like talking whilst being strangled.
      Danes, the littlebrothers. Also funny when they dont think they have a MAJOR problem with immigrants. So bad they banned the burqa. Not that I care about the burqa.
