Speaking as someone who has made his living writing about guns for the past 30 years, and is fairly well-read on the literature, I can tell you, with absolutely no worries of being wrong, that no, as a matter of fact, ".45 bullets" were not developed so "cops could shoot black men high on cocaine." Depending on whether, when we say ".45 bullets," we mean the .45 Colt revolver cartridge (adopted in 1873) or the .45 ACP autopistol cartridge (adopted in 1911), both of these were cartridges developed for military service, not law enforcement. In fact, both the .45 Colt and .45 ACP lagged in becoming popular cartridges among law enforcement, and among the civilian populace, for years after their introduction because, in both cases, so much of the production of guns chambered for them was being funneled toward fulfilling military contracts.

The .45 ACP was developed after the Filipino-American war when the soldiers found their rifles and sidearms weren't effective against who they were fighting, not because of a coked up dock worker accused of rape.
I do think the Philippine army was hoped up on drugs though. That's why the 38s didn't have much effect on them. Pretty sure I read that somewhere but I wouldn't swear to it?
@@theone031 I do believe there were reports of that, but I cannot recall if that was only for one faction in which the US were fighting or the opposition as a whole during the war. Either can be credible, but it would not surprise me if it were because of drug fueled soldiers, as that has been normal throughout history regarding wars.
It was some drugs and how the native men wrapped themselves tightly in clothing. This help slow hemorrhaging and allow them to continue fighting while being shot multiple times with .38 caliber revolvers. So the US army reverted back to the Colt SAA which shot a .45 long colt. They then figured out how to put that in a semi auto pistol and the .45ACP was born. This dude being interviewed is a lying pussy.
The .45 ACP round was developed due to a lack of stopping power experienced in the Moro Rebellion using the .38 Long Colt. This experience and the Thompson-LaGarde Tests of 1904 led the Army and the Cavalry to decide a minimum of .45 caliber was required in a new handgun.
Dude was talking about the 1800's. The standard calibre back then was the .45 Long Colt (Colt .45) not .38. Either way, the guy was full of crap about the .45 being developed as a more effective round against blacks on the docks.
Freddie is the kind of success story that encourages me as a underground artist with a small following. Seeing how he’s developed his skills and slowly blown up after seizing each and every opportunity he’s been giving has been inspirational! Mans has quickly become a mainstay in the industry and for good reason. Dude is too nice! I know if I put in the work, I can reach a larger audience some day too, but for now, I’m happy being a supporter. My turn will come too. Salute to Freddie🔥
Wrong, the .45's birth is a carry over from the Colt Dragoon and Army models. Then the 1873 45 Colt was to match that performance. The .45 ACP was to match that original performance because the .38 Long Colt proved to be very inadequate during the Philippine Insurrection. Whew!
Nah it was because those fully semi double action automatic .22 revolvers couldn't kill dock workers, the original pistols were only as heavy as one box that you might be moving, plus had no shoulder thing that goes up. These are well known facts.
The .45 ACP was developed because of the lack of stopping power with the .38 Long Colt during the Moro Rebellion...in the Philippines. Talk about allowing misinformation.
I was wondering abput this aswell, but his story does check out somehow. Go and read about when cocaine got illegal. The southern states found stopping power to be lacking with african american workers. So they started to implement higher calibers. 45 wasn't made because of black cocaine users as you said, but they were the reason for implementing higher calibers.

Back in '99 ,I was addicted to ketamine for like 6 months, and i have no idea why. Ecstasy and "g" were pleasurable, but "k" was just weird.
.....it was like going on a loop to loop roller coaster without leaving your coach. You could buy it legal in Mexican pharmacies, and the border had no dogs that could sniff it.
@@BrentLarryproduction Just because weed and crack are both aphrodisiacs doesn't mean you can call them the same thing
Never thought I'd see Freddie Gibbs on a podcast with Joe Rogan, this is amazing.
5:22 If you were only listening to this part of the podcast and not watching it. Him saying do you want some ice sounds crazy!! LMAO
So, He's just going to talk about firing at a crack head with a tech9 and Joe just flew over that nest like it's nothing.
Joe is Spotified
Joe didn’t want to go down that road. If it was Officer Vlad, he would have asked twenty follow up questions.

I was gonna say the same thing
this man HAS to win rap album of the year at the grammys
I can already hear Joe Budden complaining about this episode.
Very much so
If there was an actual player haters ball, Joe Budden and Lord Jamar would compete with each other for hater of the year, every year.
Lmao. I Wanna see A Budden/ Rogan pod

Lol! That story about how/why .45 acp was developed. I’ve heard of Fudd Lore I guess that was a little piece of Hood Lore.
Right! Lol. Guess the Moro Rebellion never happened.
Right lol the most bullshit thing ive ever heard 😂
We need the timestamp guy to get hired to Spotify
The .45 ACP round was developed due to a lack of stopping power experienced in the Moro Rebellion using the .38 Long Colt. This experience and the Thompson-LaGarde Tests of 1904 led the Army and the Cavalry to decide a minimum of .45 caliber was required in a new handgun.
Glad someone is telling the truth
Dude was talking about the 1800's. The standard calibre back then was the .45 Long Colt (Colt .45) not .38. Either way, the guy was full of crap about the .45 being developed as a more effective round against blacks on the docks.
*Freddie: I shot a crackhead 9 times.*
*Joe: .........*
*Vlad: So what happened? Did the cops know about this?*
Spot on 😂😂
Lol joe a real one..diverted that story quick!
@@wundukwembe4667 not the only thing he diverted in this clip either
Whew!
Was gonna say, pretty sure it saw war long before police upgrades
No dude they made it because a black guy was to tough to take down with a .22 😂😂😂
Nah it was because those fully semi double action automatic .22 revolvers couldn't kill dock workers, the original pistols were only as heavy as one box that you might be moving, plus had no shoulder thing that goes up. These are well known facts.
Also cause 45 long colt doesn’t fit into the 1911 because it uses a magazine so they just redesigned it a tad
Whats the point in different guns
I'm pretty sure that is NOT the true origin of the .45 ACP.
"the thing about KILOS is its only valuable if someone wants it"
- sounds of Ice being scooped in the background
Joe is so woke
Freddie’s first sentence about him shooting a crackhead with a tec 😭
The .45 ACP was developed because of the lack of stopping power with the .38 Long Colt during the Moro Rebellion...in the Philippines. Talk about allowing misinformation.
Thank you! I came here to state this fact...typical misinformation to push a BS narrative
Tales from the hood...
Ya know, multiple things can be true for multiple reasons.
I think both stories can be true.
Freddie should have his own show
1:06 Skinny Suge just sliding that in there
Moral of the story: Say no to drugs.
I love the semi silence right after Freddie tells Joe he shot a crackhead 9 times
That’s what’s up finally some rap on the jre. Much appreciated
Was listening to Freddie Gibbs the other night thinking he needs to be on there it’s crazy how we manifest shit
That story about the .45 sure came along with an incredible trick! The amazing ability to speak out of ones own ass

Yeah. As an ex crack smoker, speedballer....And now a peer counselor...I highly recommend anyone watching this know that EVERYTHING they said about drugs is completely wrong. ALL of it
@@michealhuff2299 Why is Joe Rogan spreading such propaganda about cocaine being good etc?
@TH-camr Man It's a different compound. Ketamine is the safer successor of PCP because that had more side effects.
Same with the firearms info. Just because dudes have "street cred" doesn't mean they know what they're talking about.
