Everyone's talking about how great Chester and Mike sound (which they do, they sound great) but can we talk about the masterpiece Joe Hahn created in the background of the amazing vocals!! This song is perfection.
It's not just Joe Hahn who creates the "backing" song solely, Mike Shinoda is a melodic genius, it's probably a joint effort with Mike and a couple others.
Literally love that part. That part and the slow down with Mike + Chester are the reason Blackout is so feckin' incredible. It just REALLY ties the whole song together. You get the whole angsty stuff in the first half of the song, then it gets funky af with Hahn's work, then the song is wrapped up with a nice big fluffy bow with the Mike + Chester harmonizing at the end.
i have to say from experience, i wasnt a fan of this album when it came out. however, the more i listened to it, the more it grew on me. i really dont like hunting party though. heavy metal just isnt them.

Then the disco-y beat returns, but the vocals have changed from screaming to gentle and angelic. It's a totally fresh combination.

After a lot of thinking I have come to the conclusion that what makes LP different from other bands is that they mix so many sounds together making the track awesome.Most of the sounds one does not even pay attention to.

Goddamn, it took me a while to realize what the whole album was about. Honest to god, I'm surprised I didn't notice sooner. The MLK Jr. "Beyond Vietnam" speech distorting eerily in "Wisdom, Justice, and Love", Burning in the Sky's "Swimming in the Smoke" line. The title of the album should have been a dead giveaway... "A Thousand Suns".... That's how the Japanese described seeing the nuclear explosions of Little Boy and Fatman. It was like "staring at A Thousand Suns."

This is their worst album, although there are a few really good songs. The best is Meteora in my opinion.

I'd say if I was ranking, that this and Reanimation are outstanding, and that the rest are pretty good, with Living Things at the bottom.

I don’t understand how this album was overlooked by anyone
I been pondering what Chester thought was heaven because of the weird reason I pulled away from the band in my teens... now I feel comfortable enough... I'd be interested in whatever Chester thought was heaven and I'd be okay with that for my afterlife... I don't know if he would like that but I honestly wish he found something meaningful in the end because I don't know where I'll go when I'm done but I hope it's somewhere reasonable. This song looks like a cold winter night with snow everywhere and the stars an moon are visible. Tempertures drop low enough to form icicles and your breathe turns into fog while you wear a oversized coat.
The scratching halfway through is AMAZING.
