Andrew, this series is one I look forward to! Partly inspired by your videos, I bought a 105 and travelled all over Southern Africa with it. The car is almost as old as I am (25) and I hope to keep it for another 25 years. As finances allow, I hope to rebuild it back to its original state. This series, I am sure, will be very helpful in that pursuit.

Hi 4xoverland I like this series and I had finished all the videos about New life for a 20 years old Land Cruiser and I can't stop to watch these video again and again. Also I'd like to say sorry for my english because I'm a english student and this is my first year.

I will be watching this series with great interest. While the new fangled vehicles stuffed with electronics are nice, there is nothing I like more than 4x4s of this vintage. I still think of them as 'real 4x4s'.

I have been great anticipating for a series like this build and am really happy it’s finally happening. A more realistic build on an older vehicle is something most people can relate to. This should be awesome.

Its not often I would care to comment on a video but this particular series is amazingly well timed. In researching how to get a 4x4 vehicle not made in in the USA over here I remembered a few conversations you have had with Paul while at his shop. I thought it would be great to have him as a resource to build up an older vehicle before shipping it stateside. I believe the two of you will have a lot of fun going through this process, I eagerly await the finished product! Thank you for contributing such a wealth of knowledge and bringing the world less traveled to life for your viewers.

Thanks for posting this journey Andrew. I too have a 20 yr old overlanding vehicle (2000 Nissan Xterra 4wd). When I bought it 4 years ago it needed a lot of work. I have found that everytime I replace something the ride gets a little better. This is quite self-rewarding. I look forward to following your progress.

This video brings back lots of memories of when Dad picked up his LC100 brand new back in 1999. It was a GXL, auto with factory upgraded 16” alloys. If I remember correctly, the colour is Sandy Taupe. Paid in full for the total amount of $62,500 D/A. Good memories :)

This will be fun and exciting. I feel the greatest advantage of the 105 is the lack of modern electronics with the diesel engine. About18 years ago I rebuilt a BJ40 and was on a fall hunting trip several hours from home. It was late, dark and I stopped for fuel before reaching my destination. Dead battery and no go after fueling and with the boost from a generous customer I got going again only to see fading headlights on an off road dirt track. And then no lights but the diesel kept going so with the help of a large Mag flashlight I managed to get to my camp. Voltage regulator out of service but to get home just a boost to start then drove the whole way no issues. That is reliable! Looking forward to the end result.

I have a 1998 4Runner here in Brazil. No electronics, no problem. 12 years with me in all conditions on and off road. Umbeatable. No new 4x4 is capable now as old diesel like Land Cruisers 80 or 105. If you want to check it, put anyone of them, Toyota included, in 1.5mt of water.
