Glad Lucy enjoyed the film and the plot for the film was written mostly by Ayckroyd Ramis and Reitman at Marthas Vineyard, the same place Speilberg filmed Jaws , also Bill Murray was considered essential for the success of Ghostbusters, but Dan Ayckroyd has said in interviews in the past that Bill never commits to starring in a film, so they didn't know for certain if he would turn up on the first day of shooting but he did and the rest is history as they say, as for the latest films the are called Afterlife released 2021, and Frozen Empire released 2024, directed by Jason Reitman the son of Ivan Reitman who directed the first 2 Ghostbuster films, Would like to suggest adding the original Planet of the Apes from 1968, It would be interesting to see what Lucy things of the film, also still waiting on a Blade Runner reaction, and I tried to join your patreon so I could vote but sadly it didn't work for me though, must be something I'm doing wrong I guess.

LOL! Okay, that was fun! 😆I enjoyed rewatching this with the two of you. Yes, I think Bill Murray might be the king of dead pan delivery. So there are a few sequels to this one, but the only one I really enjoyed was Ghostbuster's: Afterlife which is one of the recent sequels. I liked the humor, and the young heroine in that one made me laugh. But this one was fun to watch with you. Thank you for sharing it. 🙂
Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2, and Ghostbusters The Video Game are the definitive trilogy story. Don't bother with the rest. As for the cartoon, it's awesome, even for adults!
Ooo, I gotta disagree. 2 was really not that good. They’d be better off checking out the cartoon series, as it was supposed to be set immediately after the first movie.
The producers , the cartoon and the writers following missed the point of this. The GB were not good guys, they were "schmucks" put into a fantastic situation.
I would still say they’re good guys in a sense, just not _necessarily_ good guys, as they’re largely in it for the money (and the scientific opportunities for Ray and Egon), and not the heroics.
Yes! I've said this for years. All the sequels seem to forget -- it was more in the vein of Stripes, Animal House, and NL Vacation. It was a comedy, but notsomuch a family-friendly sci-fi fantasy...with some comedy...like everything that followed.
Once I read, but I dunno how true it is, that the makers of this film didn't intend to make a comedy, or maybe it was worded they intended to make it more scary. But audiences found it to be more funny than scary. I think it's a great blend and a really decent movie
It was written to be a straight horror. Dan Ackroid is actually big into the paranormal. However they ended up going more comedy later I can't remember if it was a recommendation from Ivan or if it was after they cast a bunch of comedians. But if you notice. The story is still serious all of the comedy comes from the Ghostbusters and their interaction. Everything else is played fairly straight and serious.
the recent movies are definitely connected to the originals - they continue the legacy and have appearances from the original characters.... the female remake from 10 years ago we don't talk about...
The only bit of special effects that bother me are the demon dogs. The stop motion isn't bad persay, but how they are composited into the scene in a couple places just looks off. Mostly when he is busting through the door and landing. Naturally it's prolly a limitation of the time the film was made.
Ok, it's not on this youtube edit, but let's just say that Lucy agrees exactly with what you are saying, the outline of the dogs look like weirdly inserted let's say
@@ptthatswhatshesaid yes exactly, I think I caught her start to mention the dogs for a moment in this edit, but it didn't go further. So I kinda wondered.

I remember hearing about one that was with kids that wasn't that bad yeah, but I thought it was the most recent one. I had no idea there was one even more recent!
Ghostbusters was kind of a weird, quirky thing that could only come from the 80s like Beetlejuice. They were unique! Everything now is a remake or prequel, or reboot or sequel of something else… that’s annoying. It’s not laugh out loud funny like BORAT! It’s kind of like smart/ funny. You could try also watching The Three Amigos. That’s another concept movie like this only MORE LAUGHS (I bet).
A lot of Bill Murray's dialog was improved in the movie. In fact, a lot of dialog was improved. It was the perfect storm of great comedians and the willingness to play off each other.
@@libertyresearch-iu4fy Improv is the form of comedy that is spontaneous and off script. "Improved" or "improving" is doing that sort of comedy. It's the same as improvisation, but slang.

@@ptthatswhatshesaid Yes. It's tricky. It's spelled the same, but pronounced differently. My meaning would be more like "improv'ed" instead of "improoved" like to make something better.
There have been a total of five films in the ‘Ghostbusters’ series: - Ghostbusters (1984) - Ghostbusters II (1989) - Ghostbusters 2016 - Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) - Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024) All of the films except for Ghostbusters 2016, occur in the same universe, with all or most of the four main characters (Venkman, Stanz, Spengler and Zeddimore) appearing as those characters, by some amount. Ghostbusters 2016 was an attempt to reboot the franchise, with female comedians as the new main characters, and it occurs in a separate universe. This film was not well received by its potential audience. The film was perceived as being part of the ‘woke’ social trend that sought to erase or replace beloved heroic characters (who happened to be male, and who are adored by men as well as women), in order to give female characters “their place in the sun.” I have seen neither the 2016 film, nor the most recent one, “Frozen Empire” as word-of-mouth has reported it as merely mediocre. The two standouts in the film series, are the original, and ‘Afterlife” (2021). “Afterlife” was directed by the son of the person who directed the original film (Ivan Reitman). The “Afterlife” film was conceived as a ‘love letter’ to the original film, a (successful, in my opinion) attempt to “make things right” with the fans after the failed reboot of 2016. It is the only example of a major Hollywood franchise (that I know of) to reverse course entirely after a failure to connect with an audience because of ‘woke’ content.
How can a movie about ghosts be funny? May I suggest you watch the American comedy classic Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein? This movie is not only very entertaining but is a good example of how to make fear funny.
please,. for the love of everything everywhere,. do not watch the 2016 remake,.. not only is it poor comedy, it is not connected to the universe lore of the 4 ghostbuster movies. The most recent ones are directly connected to the first 2 even if they mostly ignore the second one which was consider bad at the time. By far the first, and the remake with Paull Rudd are the best in the group.
The new ones are not that good. I would skip them lol. The original was a one time thing, it worked with that group of actors and that time. Even the sequel isn't as good in my opinion.
Love bill Murray but venkmans character as cool as he is ...a little suspect... he brought thorazine with him on a date lol... no one asks about this lol.
0:56 - "Uncultured" was correct. It means you don't know much about culture. in old days, it meant you didn't go see opera and theater, but it hasn't meant that for a very long time.
Ghostbusters II is a creepy same-cast sequal to this movie. The third movie was a cash-grab attempt to re-imagine the Ghostbusters universe with an all-woman cast. It is a failure and not worth your time. The fourth movie, Ghostbusters Afterlife, is a direct sequel to the originals, particularly Ghostbusters, two decades or so later. The first, second, and fourth movies comprise a trilogy story arc.
Afterlife do seem a bit interesting actually, even though I don't really know the story per se, I often like having kids as protagonists, and if its linked to the original its even better.
12:27/Lucy, baby girl.... I love how your black tank-top shows just how very beautiful you are!! Hubby, hubby!! Yeah baby!! Let's get together & get married!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Thank you. The first two movies use the same cast. The third movie is a remake with a new, gender flipped, cast that was not well received but is not necessarily a bad movie. The more recent fourth and fifth movies are directly linked to the first two, they are sequels to those movies. SPOILER WARNING ... The fourth and fifth movies do have those members of the original cast who are still alive appearing in them. I enjoyed all four of the main movies, the first two are a nostalgic treat. I didn't hate the third movie, it wasn't a waste of ninety minutes as some have said, it had many enjoyable aspects.
Beg to differ, the third movie Ghost Busters 2016 was awful, I heard all the bad reviews and could not imagine those four women not being funny. So, I went to red box, watched it and red box owes me a dollar. It was a horrible, horrible movie, it was like they phoned it in it is almost entirely bad improv. Chris Hemsworth had some funny line as did the tour guide at the beginning. The story line was trash, they treated the IP like dirt by making such a catastrophuck of a movie. The acting was like a bad cartoon, the jokes weren't funny, and one scene was extremely cringe-corny. What they did write down for a story was straight up dumb. The original Ghost Busters had fantastic things happen in the real world and GB 2016 did not feel like the real world, they made it seem like a big goof. The film wasn't even included in the box set with the first two and GB After Life. The 2016 director had to beg after the fact to have a digital download code for his movie included invoking misogyny and homophobia on social media to politically bully it into happening. It is a toxic product, but to each their own maybe you will like it.
@@bluebird3281 I wont disagree that many felt that way about it as i said, and the people making it have a right to be disappointed in their work if they feel it isn't good. For a big budget Hollywood movie it is disappointing, but it just isn't even in the same ball park as really bad movies.
The 3rd one I remember seeing the trailer and it looked to me to be simply a cash grab type of movie, without putting any real effort into it. Some friends of mine went to see it (some of them were very excited about a new GB movie) but none have liked it, so I kinda never got around to see it. Probably that influenced me to not see the remaining sequels as well 😬😬😬 Either way, this movie right here was really fun to react to!! 😜
@@ptthatswhatshesaid As I said my enjoyment of the third film is an anomaly, very few people seem to have done so. The fourth film is I think a good film, it doesn't suffer from any of the issues of the third film and seems to have met with approval from many fans of the original. Is it a cynical Hollywood cash grab? Maybe almost every sequel is, but that doesn't make it a bad movie and a faithful sequel.

Great react! Now U have 3 sequels....GHOSTBUSTERS II, GHOSTBUSTERS Afterlife, GHOSTBUSTERS frozen empire
Thank you so much ☺️
Glad Lucy enjoyed the film and the plot for the film was written mostly by Ayckroyd Ramis and Reitman at Marthas Vineyard, the same place Speilberg filmed Jaws , also Bill Murray was considered essential for the success of Ghostbusters, but Dan Ayckroyd has said in interviews in the past that Bill never commits to starring in a film, so they didn't know for certain if he would turn up on the first day of shooting but he did and the rest is history as they say, as for the latest films the are called Afterlife released 2021, and Frozen Empire released 2024, directed by Jason Reitman the son of Ivan Reitman who directed the first 2 Ghostbuster films,
Would like to suggest adding the original Planet of the Apes from 1968, It would be interesting to see what Lucy things of the film, also still waiting on a Blade Runner reaction, and I tried to join your patreon so I could vote but sadly it didn't work for me though, must be something I'm doing wrong I guess.
John Belushi was originally supposed to be in 'Ghostbusters', but he died.
Hey, yeah I see your name there. That happened once to another patron of ours, I don't know why 🤷♂️
Blade Runner and The Thing are really close xD Tell you what, I will add your vote to Blade Runner in this poll, so whatever the result, you can count on one extra vote for it!
edit: ok, just realized that I can leave my own vote as well xD so I put it in Blade Runner in your behalf
@@ptthatswhatshesaid Lucy will hopefully enjoy Blade Runner and have a lot of questions about A.I and the future of it, but she will probaly enjoy the gore in The Thing more than the story.
Im always happy when she just can enjoy the movie and i knew she was like this one
ahahah yeah it seems to be easier for her to just accept things when its comedy!
Yeah there was a cartoon called The Real ghostbuster and the greedy green ghost was called Slimer
Also the sequel is garbage
love that name xD
21:04 - Just FYI, for physical damage, "Damage" is plural, not "Damages". "Damages" is only for financial/legal.
Oh thank you, had no idea! 😅
You totally should watch the second one and the one that was release in 2021 ghostbusters afterlife
Thank you so much for watching it along us :p we had a lot of fun recording this one ☺️
First film i seen in the cinema when i was about 4 and loved it...don't shit on my childhood lol.
ahahah of course not. Didn't you found it a bit frightening when you were THAT young!
Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters 2, and Ghostbusters The Video Game are the definitive trilogy story. Don't bother with the rest. As for the cartoon, it's awesome, even for adults!
Great reaction as always, Ghostbusters 2 is a must you will love it.
Thank you! :)
GB 2 used to scare me as a kid for some reason! :D
Ooo, I gotta disagree. 2 was really not that good. They’d be better off checking out the cartoon series, as it was supposed to be set immediately after the first movie.
Love this movie just avoid the 2016 version we don't talk about that one.
So I'm understanding 😂
The producers , the cartoon and the writers following missed the point of this. The GB were not good guys, they were "schmucks" put into a fantastic situation.
I would still say they’re good guys in a sense, just not _necessarily_ good guys, as they’re largely in it for the money (and the scientific opportunities for Ray and Egon), and not the heroics.
They are not Bad Guys either! But I agree with your categorization of them as just some "schmucks" xD

@@markcarpenter6020 "want to see something really scary?"
would love to see an alternative version of the script, with no comedians, all straight up horror xD
@@ptthatswhatshesaid so would I
You have just witnessed my all time favorite movie. You should watch Ghostbusters II, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
Great couple, Great reaction, Great channel.
Thank you so much! 😋
We just had a great time recording this one!
the recent movies are definitely connected to the originals - they continue the legacy and have appearances from the original characters.... the female remake from 10 years ago we don't talk about...
Oh, I see, that one was just a standalone blunder in a way xD
I might give the other sequels a chance then!
Ghostbusters Afterlife is even better
Sigourney Weaver:
"Copycat" (1995)
That seems interesting 🤔 and with Holly Hunter
@@mattschliemann9683 Yes! it was after that moment 😅😅
This Movie is So GOOOOD
PS : need to watch the second
third one (girl Busters sucks ass) and the newer ones at least try to pay homage to the Originals .
I remember hearing about one that was with kids that wasn't that bad yeah, but I thought it was the most recent one. I had no idea there was one even more recent!
Another great reaction to a classic 😂
Thank you so much ☺️ we had a lot of fun recording this!
That’s another concept movie like this only MORE LAUGHS (I bet).
thanks a lot! Beeteljuice and 3 Amigos both of us have not seen 👌
A lot of Bill Murray's dialog was improved in the movie. In fact, a lot of dialog was improved. It was the perfect storm of great comedians and the willingness to play off each other.
I think you mean improvised.
@@libertyresearch-iu4fy Improv is the form of comedy that is spontaneous and off script. "Improved" or "improving" is doing that sort of comedy. It's the same as improvisation, but slang.
THat's confusing for me (not a native english speaker) because for me improved simply ment "something made better than" 😂😂😂
But of course by the context I got it straight away that you were talking about improv
Yeah, I bet they must have a LOT of completely different takes with crazy weird lines that were left off! xD
@@swordmonkey6635Spell it right.
@@ptthatswhatshesaid Yes. It's tricky. It's spelled the same, but pronounced differently. My meaning would be more like "improv'ed" instead of "improoved" like to make something better.
The best 👍
always a good time watching this one 👌
36:42 - and they're carrying 50+ pound (23+ kg) packs :)
Was only 6 years old in 1984 miss the 1980s
That marshmellow goo falling onto everybody would probably be soo hot
Oh damn... I hadn't considered that 😬🥵
There have been a total of five films in the ‘Ghostbusters’ series:
- Ghostbusters (1984)
- Ghostbusters II (1989)
- Ghostbusters 2016
- Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
- Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)
All of the films except for Ghostbusters 2016, occur in the same universe, with all or most of the four main characters (Venkman, Stanz, Spengler and Zeddimore) appearing as those characters, by some amount.
Ghostbusters 2016 was an attempt to reboot the franchise, with female comedians as the new main characters, and it occurs in a separate universe. This film was not well received by its potential audience. The film was perceived as being part of the ‘woke’ social trend that sought to erase or replace beloved heroic characters (who happened to be male, and who are adored by men as well as women), in order to give female characters “their place in the sun.”
I have seen neither the 2016 film, nor the most recent one, “Frozen Empire” as word-of-mouth has reported it as merely mediocre.
Slimmer the green ghost is friendly and become apart of the ghost busters team
Yeah, that is kinda what I thought!
How can a movie about ghosts be funny?
May I suggest you watch the American comedy classic Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein? This movie is not only very entertaining but is a good example of how to make fear funny.
Thank you :) Horror comedies are awesome!
TELL HIM ABOUT THE TWINKIE!!
9:35/Lucy, baby girl... your looking very beautiful wearing your black shirt!! Let's get married!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥
please,. for the love of everything everywhere,. do not watch the 2016 remake,.. not only is it poor comedy, it is not connected to the universe lore of the 4 ghostbuster movies. The most recent ones are directly connected to the first 2 even if they mostly ignore the second one which was consider bad at the time. By far the first, and the remake with Paull Rudd are the best in the group.
that does seem to be the overall consensus I'm gathering throughout the comments.
What if we were to do a bad movie roast? 😅😅
The new ones are not that good. I would skip them lol. The original was a one time thing, it worked with that group of actors and that time. Even the sequel isn't as good in my opinion.
money always speaks louder 😬
Love bill Murray but venkmans character as cool as he is ...a little suspect... he brought thorazine with him on a date lol... no one asks about this lol.
Well, Venkman is a creep from the beginning 😅 so somehow it doesn't really seem that out of character
Every time your girlfriend says "Jesus Christ", I take a shot of tequila. I'm pretty drunk right now. So, thank you for your blasphemy.
That is a very dangerous drinking game dude... 😂😂😂
0:56 - "Uncultured" was correct. It means you don't know much about culture. in old days, it meant you didn't go see opera and theater, but it hasn't meant that for a very long time.
What about bob movie
Never heard of that one 🤔
Honey I shunk the kids movie honey I blew up the kids and strange brew movie
Sorry, but your totally lame and ridiculous comments about Lord of the Rings destroyed any credibility in what you say.
Please watch Ghostbusters II (1989) but skip Ghostbusters: Answer The Call (2016) because it's terrible and a cashgrab
"is woman a science?"

@@camannwordsmith Stop being stupid, oops... it's too late for you!!
Probably that influenced me to not see the remaining sequels as well 😬😬😬
Either way, this movie right here was really fun to react to!!
Check out the women's version.......it's WAY BETTER.....😂😂😅 LOL .....ya Goofy m8te from Australia 😂
I bet... the trailer looked soooo good!
In a way I kinda would like to start a new series of videos. Something like bad movie roast 😂😂 I suppose that movie might be a good candidate?...
