- Poker is a game of strategy. You'll need to constantly read the other players to decide when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em, when to bluff, and when to call someone else’s bluff. There are many variations of poker, but Texas Hold'Em is the most popular. While each variation has its own rules, the basics of the game are always the same. All you have to do is master the basics - then you can start developing your own winning strategy!

Before you get started playing any type of 5-card poker, you’ll need to learn the 10 ways to win. In order from lowest to highest, they are:
1. High card.
2. Pair of cards, like two 2s.
3. Two pairs of cards, like two 5s and two 9s.
4. Three of a kind, like three 4s.
5. Straight, which is five cards in sequential order. For example, a player might have a 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 of any suit.
6. Flush, which is when a player has five cards of the same suit in any order. For example, a player might have a 2, 7, 10, Jack, and Queen of spades.
7. Full house, which is when a player has a pair and a three of a kind.
8. Four of a kind, like all four Aces.
9. Straight flush, which is when you have five cards in sequential order of the same suit. For example, a player might have a 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 of clubs.
10. Royal Flush, which is a straight flush containing a 10, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace.
If two people have the same hand, the person with the higher cards wins.
Here's #howto play Texas Hold’Em:
• You’ll first need to bet your “ante,” which is your “buy in bet” to play the round. The ante is usually a small bet, like $1 or $5, and it’s decided by the table.
• Once everyone has bet their ante, the dealer will deal two cards to each player. Keep these cards secret from everyone else.
• Now, every player will take a look at their cards and choose whether or not to bet. Whenever there’s a betting round, you can choose to “fold,” which means not playing this round, “check,” which means matching their bet, or “raise,” which means adding more money to the betting pool.
• Players that are unwilling to “check” a bet have to fold; and if everyone but one player “folds,” that player wins!
• Once everyone has bet, the dealer will reveal three cards. These cards are known as the “flop.” When you see the flop, start planning what hand you want to make, keeping in mind that there are still two more cards to be revealed. For example, are your cards both diamonds, and did the flop include two diamond cards? In that case, you might want to aim for a flush, which is when you have five cards of the same suit.
• After the flop, everyone has the chance to bet again, before the dealer reveals the next card, which is the “turn.”
• Bet again if you want to, then the dealer will reveal the “river,” which is the last card.
• At this point, you’ll see a total of 7 cards: two in your hands, and five on the table. Now, players will bet once last time, then everyone will reveal their hand. Your goal is to create the highest hand possible out of those seven cards, even if it means only using one card from your hand and four cards from the table.
• The player with the best hand wins!

I just learned to play black jack and thought poker was going to be easy to learn but it’s difficult to understand
im here because of jojo
*kakegurui
And I am still pretty confused. But apparently this is just one of those games that you have to play to really understand

Kakegurui?
This is explained very well, makes it easy to understand, thanks!
I thought I had everything figured out until I read the comments and apparently half the stuff in here is wrong so now Im back to confused
Charlie lmao same
The only mistake I noticed is that they said checking is where you match someone’s bet. Wrong
Checking is when no bets have take place on the flop, turn or river and you just want to do nothing. If someone bets, you have to CALL, which means that you match their bet
Example:
1. bob checks
2. Mark bets $5
1. Bob calls (matches marks bet by putting five in the pot)
Does that help?
Yep
@@awolf913 teach
I know how to play but just wanted to keep my memory fresh and once I saw he said checking was pretty much calling I was like wtf 😂
And don't forget the most important rule...
Don't look at your cards and bluff the dealer as you act nonchalant, light a cigarette, and drink a blue cocktail.
Bet your mothers soul
Lol

All you need to know:
Everything you do at the poker table conveys information. You can't be all loosey goosey having a sandwich.
Okay Daniel
English please 😹
That’s funny because my friends and I primarily play at our lunch table, eating sandwiches.
I got that ad 😂

You can only learn by playing repeatedly. Eventually you'll start to catch on how it works.
who's hear after watching kakeguri

ME LMAO
I had no clue how poker worked prior to watching this. Good job explaining it!
Man, i finally understood how to play poker but when i read the comments im now confused
Lol
From what I'm reading, they only got calling confused with checking.
Same
lol this is inaccurate. Checking is not matching the bet, checking is choosing not to bet if not betting has taken place prior to you, calling is matching the bet
IndiEmo it means matching someone else’s bet who put in a bet. It could be matching a previous raise also.
@@awolf913 "Matching a bet means matching a bet"
Said no one ever
Checking is not betting, Calling is matching the bet
I’m confused now 🤦♀️

I remember my dad trying to teach how to play poker and I didn’t understand what a flush was and I folded with a flush and after he was disappointed because he only had a pair
I'm slowly learning by playing poker myself on rdr2 and watching how to play videos as well as reading about it ........I haven't even remotely figured it out but I know something was off when you said match when choosing not to raise
its hard to explain poker to someone when they havnt had a little experience like me. i watched this video a few times and didnt understand it at all until i actually played the game and its actually easier than it looks lol
Poker : 21+
Me : I am Muslim and 11yr watching this
@Amön Goeth I am also glad that you left the religion because we don't want gamblers.
He forgot about the burn cards before the flop, the turn, n the river. A burn card is a card not used. After everyone antes, the dealer takes the top deck card and places aside facing down. Calling it a burn card. After the flop n before he puts out the turn card, he has to burn another card which is the next top card of the deck. Same thing before putting out the river card. Matching a bet is what you call matching someone's bet. Either you call which means you match, or you can re-raise in which now they have to match yours. The re-raise and how many times allowed usually is upon the people playing deciding. Also when you first start a hand and no one has placed a bet,,it's considered checking ,betting or folding when it comes to your turn . Checking meaning u are ok with what's on the pot and don't care to bet but u still want to play. But if someone bets, checking is out of the question. Then it becomes either call the bet, re-raise or fold which means quit the hand.
thanks man this makes the game so clear
Im probably never gonna play poker because im always broke but this is still cool to watch
Everyone else: Who’s here after Kakeguri?? Me: *here after watching Jotaro vs Darby*
I found this in my 8 year-olds search history
This will definitely help with poker night tomorrow
ty so much i needed this for rdr2
Thank you very much for this tutorial
This video is so much better then that other one I watched
Thank u so much. Great explanation.
New at poker this vid helped me thanks!🎲🎲
First time ever watching a wikihow video, never knew this existed
What a great explanation
Wow that was a Really good lesson.
does the pair of cards (Example: Royall flush) have to be in the strict AKQJ10 or in any order?
does it have to be 5 cards in order to get one of those pairs?
ex: what if I have a flush but only have 2 cards, and the flop only has 1, its not 5 cards, is it still a flush?
Everything makes more sense when you’re playing.
i understood most of this but only the "checking" part i was confused. can someone help and explain that to me?
Played it when I was little , about time I get back into it
That was cool finally learning poker
Pro tip to win poker: don’t lose
You explain this so well
We was child when we did play poker, 8 years only, and just learned this lovely cards👍👀🍺
Winning in poker is euphorical!
I knew how to play poker when i was 9 but now i forgot the things like the card weapons or something but i still understand how it goes
Since I am probably one of the only few Kakegurei watchers who was able to fully learn poker, I want to say a few things:
I was already interested in learning poker as it seems like a fun game but was never bothered to learn how to play. Kakegurei convinced me enough to learn it and start playing. First thing I want to say is that none of the games played in kakegurei involve this exact type of poker in the video (Texas Holdem) but if you are able to learn this one you can easily understand the others (because the hand rankings, calling, checking and raising are all similar). Another thing is that if you really want to learn Poker you have to play it yourself or else you will still be confused.
If you really want, you can learn the simpler poker games like 5 card poker first (This can be seen at the first few seconds of the first episode where Mary won against Ryota). Although I suggest learning Texas holdem first, because it will make your life easier. If you are learning poker so u can understand the games they are playing in kakegurei, learning Texas holdem will automatically make you understand all of them.
very good explanation
A have a question, I got an A, two 2s, a 3, and a 7. Should I only get rid of the 7 or a 7 and one 2?
Really good video
I lost $20 on RDR2 to the same guy over and over again..
Easiest $20 i ever made. *rubs hands*
Same. At least I learnt how to play blackjack
Bruh I literally came here because I just lost my hard earned $40 on RDR2
Losing 20$ in rd wouldn't feel so bad if i didn't get 2$ for each bounty :(
Lol that's why I'm here
What happens if everyone checks (doesn't bet) in a round?
I saw another video where there was a difference between call and check....
Are they same or is there a difference
Thanks bro
Started to re-play rdr2 and now I’m back at “that” mission.
This game is so much fun I love it
poker stars vr looked super fun but idk how to play poker, i’m gonna try to learn asap
Nice tutorial i love poker
So lemme get this straight. All of you are from Kakeguri.
i learned from my grandpa then watched the anime, so im sorta from both
thanks, i have a poker tournament tonight and i’ve never played before...
What happens if every player folds? And can you only play your round if your have the ability to?
Kakegurui explained this better smh 🤦♀️
Instructions unclear, I ended up throwing a baby into an IKEA toilet yelling "ROYAL FLUSH"
If I have 3 cards
2 cards of 2 and 1 of 5
Does the 2 cards of 2 cout as a pair or I should drop the other car and how
Basically I made a deal with some dudes to play poker with them but I don’t know how to play poker, and one of them has never lost. So now I need to learn, and get really good within five days or I’m losing a shit ton of money that I don’t have.
I'm here before I watch kakegurui
I swear once or twice a year i’ll try to learn how to play poker only to forget how
Say I have a 4 of diamonds and the rest are red do they have to be same category or do they just have to be red
So which flush of series of card is greater between clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades?
Nothing made me laugh harder that “when you see the flop”
learning this bc of daddy d'arby
THANKS SO MUCH
Great video.
this was really explained well
let's get our gambling freak on!
Thank you I was playing rdr2 and there is a mission where you have to play poker
