There is also grief which adoptees feel whether adopted at birth or later on in life. As an adoptee I grief for my biological mother and father and the loss I had growing up with my siblings and biological family as well as knowing who I am. This coming even though I had a very loving adopted family who did everything for me. At age 23 years old, I found my biological parents. Currently I have a very good relationship with my biological father and also his family who are not Maltese. However, my mum who is Maltese just rejected me again, only 3 weeks after we found each other. This was a double grief which I am still going through, 7 years later. I am writing this on Mother's Day, every Mother's Day is painful for me even though I have an adoptive mother who gave and is still giving her all for me. I don't really talk about this situation b Thanks for this program because when I try to do so, society makes me feel guilty, why are you thinking of a person who doesn't want you when you have a mum who loves you so dearly?
Trudy Kerr, you're really amazing! I listen to all your programmes and recently even the episode where you were interviewed. Every speaker is so transparent. It was important to listen to all the three women had to say.
This is an episode I can relate to most so far. Unfortunately, within two years, I lost my loving husband, my mother in-law and my mother who had dementia. My husband passed away suddenly and unexpectedly.... he had just turned 67 years old and was full of life. I still cannot come to terms with his loss and the grief will never go away. My heart goes out to these amazing women....they made me shed some tears but also managed to bring a smile on my face. Oh, those new boobies Alison Kelly......what a lovely and courageous person you are! Well done to all....your honest experiences were of great comfort to me and gave me a lot of encouragement. Thank you Trudy Kerr for all these super interesting talk shows.....do keep them coming please.
