Good video, but there were a few points I wanted to bring up: -DMG had a sixth artwork in the 2022 tins (TCG) and Animation Chronicle? (OCG). [Edit: I was wrong, it was the History Archive Collection, not Animation Chronicle) -I think Magician's Valkyria and Dark Paladin are supposed to be counterparts given their similar, more jagged/sharp armor. Additionally, Dark Paladin gains 400 atk and has an effect geared towards offense while Magicians' Valkyria loses 400 atk and has an effect geared towards defense. I'd also be willing to put up Summon Sorceress as a Dark Paladin counterpart since they both have glaives instead of staves and both have +400 atk over their base counterparts. Though, I do accept it's a bit of stretch -There's Masterful Magician, Servant of the Sanctuary, the match winner card from the 2023 world championship (and I think parallel to the Blue-Eyes's Victory Dragon, akin to Legendary Dragon of White vs Legendary Magician of Dark) -Toon Dark Magician and Toon Dark Magician Girl -Dragon Master Magia depicts Magician of Black Chaos in the art. -I don't really think Timestar or Enlightenment Paladin should've been included here. They moreso belong to the Timegazer/Stargazer Magician lines. Same goes for Explosive Magician/Endymion. Endymion has a whole archetype of his own related to spell counters (the only use of spell counters in DM is Skilled Dark Magician, who is moreso part of the Skilled Magician group than DM) -The performapal cards do seemingly fit the master/apprentice dynamic and DM statline, but the visual similarity just isn't there for me and they're wind monsters. When you look at Nightmare Magician, you can just tell the monster is inspired by DM with the armor similarities. However, I am willing to accept them as homages. -Cyberse Magician I can see, but I think Cyberse Witch is a bit of a stretch. -Then there's all the monsters that are visually similar: Chaos Command Magician (which you mentioned), Breaker the Magical Warrior, Defender the Magical Knight, and Arcanite Magician. Then there's also Blast Magician and Doomstar Magician, who share some visual similarities, but that's pretty much where the parallels end. -There's also Apprentice Magician, who is wearing very similar robes to the 1st OCG artwork of DM and has a similar staff. -I totally forgot about the new DM Shining Sarcophagus retrain: Dark Magician the Magician of Black Magic I think that about covers it.

@@jparis92100 DM is def connected because he becomes Masterful Magician of the Sanctuary and the Spell Counter theme, also, Konami tried to make Dark Magical Circle be apart of the Prophecy/Spellbooks but they changed it I believe as the card we got now.
Was there even an explanation as to why there's a red variation of the Dark Magician? Is it like a What-If Scenario, as in what if Bakura became the Dark Magician? Or is it an alternate timeline where the Dark Magician became corrupted by his own dark magic?
I'll explain the Dark Magician lore like this: DM was once Mahad who studied Dark Magic because of the Millennium Ring to balance out his ba and ka. Which you know how he ends up becoming DM after the showdown with Bakura. Sometime later, his Duel spirit trapped in the tablet is revived and travels through 5000 years of time (which every card we see in their artwork is him time traveling and mastering different forms and practices). By the time Mana becomes DMG, he travels with her through magical portals that leads them to different scenarios as you can see on all of their cards (in one time travel: he's a Dragon Knight, in another time travel: he learns about Spell Counters, in another time travel: he becomes a warrior). So yeah his lore story is basically time traveling through nearly every artwork he has. Magician Navigation is the main focus of how time travels with different spellcasters who are users of dark magic. That's why we got cards like Chronicle Magician (which he is confirmed to time travel and build a bond with BEWD), Endymion & Spellbooks (which leads him to be Masterful Magician of the Sanctuary and he does have ties to these archetypes), and much more. Arkana's/Pandora's version of DM must be something that is a Bizarro version of him. I don't know where he comes into any of it. Supposedly he's a warped version. DM is a time travel lore.
While it isn't a direct parallel to DM/DM Girl since it's an "all female" deck but Yuuna has Celeb Rose which is obviously meant to reference the Sevens Road cards, with Celeb Rose Magician and Celeb Rose Witch cards. But there are also so many Rush Duel expansions with Sevens Road, Celeb Rose and their own Dark Magician cards.
Astrograph sorcerer and Chronograph sorcerer are Homages to DM and DMG. They have the stat lines, they're dark spellcasters with levels 7 and 6 respectively and Astrograph was kinda an ace to Z-Arc, the greatest duelist of his time period and dimension.
I think OCG's upcoming set called Supreme Darkness is new Dark Magician/Dark Paladin support that's coming out this year. It would be cool to Buster Blader mentioning DM in its text and getting a new Dark Paladin retrain.
I think my favorite 3 pairs are ( mainly cause they are the ones I feel closest to due to nostalgia, aka the anime's first season and the pyramid of light movie ) : _The originals : Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl _The pyramid of light movie's new dark magician and dark magician girl inspired pair : Magician's Valkyria and Sorcerer of Dark Magic, they look like they could be the older siblings of their respective inspiration or heck even the parents of the sibling pair that is their inspiration. _Atem's best friends : Palladium Oracle Mahad and Palladium Oracle Mana. I loved the ancient Egypt arc, the story of Atem's world and his friends, as well as the monsters actually being there to some extent.
To explain Endymion, it’s the modern version of the original Dark Magician deck. In the Goat-era, DM & other Yugi boss monsters were player with a resource system called “Spell Counters” as to give Yugi a tangible playstyle for the actual game. Problem was, spell counters worker better when used fir board wipes and not summoning beaters so DM went off to have an archetype around the time archetypes were being fleshed out and spell counters just lost their boss monster. As such, they had to make their own Dark Magician and without the limitations of the OG monster, meaning it could actually have effects. Think of it as one deck that had to split off into two. So yeah, Endymion is the OG Yugi deck but allowed to update to the modern era. Explaining the vast similarities.
@mouthyschannel2474 here is to add on to your notion as well. In Rush Duel Dark Magician still uses a Spell Counter and Spell Book style of gameplay. It's a beautiful mixture of both. If you have X amount of Spell Cards in your Graveyard you can activate set effect. In which this is how Spellbooks work as well. It is a version of "Counter" without setting something on a card. This is even shown on Yugi's Gazelle Spellcounter Versions
It’s neat how Dark Magician has no Synchro support and Blue-Eyes has no Xyz support, it would be cool if enough synchro blue-eyes and Xyz dark magician were made to form respective extra deck method focused decks
there is diabellstar the black witch, who her and snake-eyes flamberge are homages to dark magician and blue-eyes and also performage isn't a performapal lol
I'm Surprise that Arcanite Magician, Tempest Magician, and High Priestess of Prophecy weren't mentioned given how they all align with both Dark Magician and Dark Magician girl.
Don't know if someone mentioned it already but you missed one Dark Magician Girl artwork, the "MP22-EN268" from the 2022 Mega-Tins. Which artwork was also used for the DMG dueling accesories Binder, Sleeves, Deckbox & Playmat.
i'm still sad we didn't get a quintet magician girl. Like you have the magician girls to fit the requirements, and the spell, just make theboss monster
Eh... I want to chime in on the Magician of Hope. That is more of an XYZ/Pendulum Variant of Utopia rather than Dark Magician, but it kinda does look like a Dark Magician in a way
You know what never made sense? That we never got a Dark Magician retrain that played into its normal monster flavor text _(The ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense.)_ Here’s my idea for that: _The Dark Magician of Battle_ (DARK) Level 7 Spellcaster/Effect (This card’s name is always treated as “Dark Magician”.) _You can use Spells/Traps you control as Tributes for this card’s Normal Summon/Set. Cannot be destroyed by Battle. This card can attack while in Defense Position. If it does, apply its ATK or DEF for damage calculation (Your Choice.) If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage._ ATK/2500 DEF/2100 THERE, now the card can be Normal Summoned/Set using Spells/Traps as tributes (which you can place/set on the field en masse), is immune to battle destruction (plays into the “Defense” angle), can attack while in defense position (plays up the “Attack” AND “Defense” bits), and deals Piercing Battle Damage (Plays up the “Attack” part). All while of course treating itself as the OG Dark Magician.
The chronicle magician cards make me feel like if the fourth blue eyes card wasn't ripped they would be in Yugi's deck and would have been alongside silent magician in the final duel
Hi TGS, great video! You forgot about one Dark Magician Girl artwork! The one 2022 Tin of the Pharaoh's Gods. It is a nice one and I believe Konami wanted to tie it in to the at-that-moment 25th Anniversary releases.
Fun fact: the anime Dark magician Girl is actually nerfed instead of 300 in the original Manga she gained 500 for every Dark magician in the graveyard the 500 is her actually inheriting his strength which is 2500
A young Dark magician named torunka appeared in yugioh 5d. After the minus curse was lifted, he returned to a dark Sage . Torunka face looks like miracle flipper
My first thought for variants were Gagaga Magician and Gagaga Girl, which don’t meet the stated level requirements; but, Gagaga Magician is originally 1 level higher than Gagaga Girl, just like the originals.
I’m surprised and a little sad Yusei didn’t get a junk magician somewhere. Probably would’ve been pretty cool. I think Stargazer and Timegazer Magician could fit into this. They’re just brothers instead of student teacher/siblings.
The statue idea could have been implemented seamlessly with the millenium/exodia support we got this year. When you watch the character duel at WCQ (I think) with yugi vs his grandpa, he talks of his monsters being in tablet form and breaking from their tablets.
Great video! I think Breaker the magical warrior, Defender the magical knight and Blast magician would also meet your criteria, they look quite similar to og dark magician, at least, to me.
Also I've always seen cyberse wizard and backup sorceress as the cyberse DM/DMG pair similar to the gagaga pair. From there, Cyberse Enchanter and Cyberse Magician would be upgrades/older versions of cyberse wizard, with the same relationship between backup secretary, backup supervisor, and cyberse witch
You forgot about Astrograh Sorcerer and Chronograph Sorcerer. They're also a pair of spellcasters; one with 2500 ATK and the other 2000 ATK. And I might be wrong but I think Astrograph is female, so it's the female that has higher stats than the male one this time around. Also, since Astrograph and Chronograph are upgraded versions of Timegazer Magician and Stargazer Magician, those could be variants of DM and DMG as well.
I'd say Trapeze Magician isn't a Dark Magician reference as much as it simply lives up to the 2500 stat benchmark that DM established. Endymion is also simply a magician that uses dark magic. From what I've read of his Magister story plus the evil implications of his last starter deck support, he has a negative character arc which clashes with DM being a heroic character.
11:04 Trapeze Magician is PerforMAGE, not pal. PM not PP, Em not EM. Also, you forgot PerforMAGE Trapeze Witch. Magician of Hope is a fusion between Yuya's Pendulum 11:35 Magicians and Yuma's Utopia. 11:57 you forgot Xiangsheng Magician, Oafdragon and Nobledragon Magician, Tuning/Harmonizing Magician.
fun fact in ygo 5ds luna goes to the monster world and encounters a monster that looks like miracal flipper that got cursed to be young and later transforms back into its adult form with lookes most like dark sage with is an old version of the dark magician
I like how Dark Magician #7 is the version that Yugi uses in the Dark Side of Dimensions movie. While not a fan of the color, it is my favorite design of him.
Breaker the magical warrior, defender the magical warrior, breaker the dark magical warrior, skilled magicians, blast magician, dark red enchanter, rapid fire magician, crusader of Endymion and alchemist of black spells deserved a mention since they resemblance Dark magician in most of their features artwork wise.
Dragonpit & Dragonpulse Magician . . . . Each one them *"discard pendulum card"* >> the DM version *_(Dragonpit)_* pop backrow then the DMG version *_(Dragonpluse)_* discard pendulum card >> then pop face up monster . . . . Well one have 2,7K deffence and the girl one have 1,8K attack tho :') 👍👍 Btw Xiangke Magician have always partner in crime when placed as pendulum scale in Arc-V by Yuya . . . . *_"Xiangsheng Magician"_* even she's looks like archer in card artwork . . . . But the effect tho . . . . just support Pendulum / XYZ power combination . . . . It's just representative of Yuya and Yuto it self . . . .
Endymion is unrelated, he just shares a similar colour scheme. Servant of Endymion is Witchcrafter Genai, not a Dark Magician Girl counterpart, the only similarity is that they're both blonde women.
You forgot the Shining Sarcophagus Dark Magician. There’s also Astrograph Sorcerer, which has the same stats (except for DEF) as DM and is the ace monster of Z-ARC, and Chronograph Sorcerer has the same stats as DMG. Both Summon Supreme King Z-Arc and are evolved forms of the original Magician Pendulum Monsters that Yuya has.
Did you do a video yet on how many of the manga/anime characters have monster/spell/trap counterparts based on them? Akin to "Kaiba Man", or artworks that looked like them, like the ones of Ishizu and Mai?
Dragon Master Magia is a fusion of Magician of Black Chaos and Blue-eyes Ultimate so it is not entirely related to Dark Magician but I thought it deserves an honorable mention.
You forgot Xiangsheng Magician when you talked about Xiangke Magician, they are a duo to resemble Yuya and Yuzu as well Z-ARC and Ray, at the same time they are a reference to DM and DMG 😅 Also, the DMG version of Endymion would be Selene and Reflection of Endymion, since both have more similarities with DMG

@@jparis92100 DM is def connected because he becomes Masterful Magician of the Sanctuary and the Spell Counter theme, also, Konami tried to make Dark Magical Circle be apart of the Prophecy/Spellbooks but they changed it I believe as the card we got now.
It doesn't fit your requirements even remotely.
But Diabellastar and Snake-eyes are also loosely based on Dark Magician and Blue Eyes.
I saw those jiggle don't act like I didn't see 😂 0:35
Was there even an explanation as to why there's a red variation of the Dark Magician? Is it like a What-If Scenario, as in what if Bakura became the Dark Magician? Or is it an alternate timeline where the Dark Magician became corrupted by his own dark magic?
As far as I know no there hasn't
Or it's just a different dude as the monster world exists and there's a bunch of other magicians and he wanted the title?
@@anonluxor470 Blast Magician
I actually kind of like that as a "what if" scenario. What if Bakura/Diabound was able to absorb Illusion Magician or Dark Magician.
Gaga Magican and Gagga Magican girl are part of it too.
Didn't he forgot the dark magician in shinning sircophages
I would have thought the skilled Dark Magician would have gotten a mention in this video
My favorite is Dark Magician the Magician of Black Magic. This is one you forgot to mention.
It's crazy how Dark Magician artwork have equal or even more variants than how many decks have spawned from Yugi lol. DM art goes crazy
I think OCG's upcoming set called Supreme Darkness is new Dark Magician/Dark Paladin support that's coming out this year. It would be cool to Buster Blader mentioning DM in its text and getting a new Dark Paladin retrain.
I think my favorite 3 pairs are ( mainly cause they are the ones I feel closest to due to nostalgia, aka the anime's first season and the pyramid of light movie ) :
_The originals : Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl
_The pyramid of light movie's new dark magician and dark magician girl inspired pair : Magician's Valkyria and Sorcerer of Dark Magic, they look like they could be the older siblings of their respective inspiration or heck even the parents of the sibling pair that is their inspiration.
Finally someone got it correct, was waiting for someone with knowledge of the game
@@Xioxakura Makes me wish for some Endy GY spells now to push the viability lol
It’s neat how Dark Magician has no Synchro support and Blue-Eyes has no Xyz support, it would be cool if enough synchro blue-eyes and Xyz dark magician were made to form respective extra deck method focused decks
Now Blue-Eyes has XYZ support
@@Xioxakura so that should mean dark magician should get a synchro soon
I'm pretty sure Endymion is the principal of the school that Dark Magician, Buster Blader, Gaia, Summoned skull and Kuriboh went to
there is diabellstar the black witch, who her and snake-eyes flamberge are homages to dark magician and blue-eyes
and also performage isn't a performapal lol
I'm Surprise that Arcanite Magician, Tempest Magician, and High Priestess of Prophecy weren't mentioned given how they all align with both Dark Magician and Dark Magician girl.
My favorite are the gagaga and the slient magician
I'm just disappointed we have very few Magician of Black Chaos Variants
It's been decades, we need the lore of how Arkana's Dark Magician fits into all of this lol
Apple Magician Girl does fit the color scheme, tho that might be coincidental
Don't know if someone mentioned it already but you missed one Dark Magician Girl artwork, the "MP22-EN268" from the 2022 Mega-Tins. Which artwork was also used for the DMG dueling accesories Binder, Sleeves, Deckbox & Playmat.
i'm still sad we didn't get a quintet magician girl. Like you have the magician girls to fit the requirements, and the spell, just make theboss monster
Eh... I want to chime in on the Magician of Hope. That is more of an XYZ/Pendulum Variant of Utopia rather than Dark Magician, but it kinda does look like a Dark Magician in a way
Still follows protagonist ace stats regardless.
I love the different variations of Dark Magician and Dark Magician girl. My favourites are Gagaga Magician and Gagaga Magician Girl.
You missed the Shining Sarc version of Dark Magician, "Dark Magician the Ebon Sorcerer"
And I personally don't think the Syncro's count
You know what never made sense? That we never got a Dark Magician retrain that played into its normal monster flavor text _(The ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense.)_
Here’s my idea for that:
_The Dark Magician of Battle_ (DARK)
Level 7
Spellcaster/Effect
(This card’s name is always treated as “Dark Magician”.)
_You can use Spells/Traps you control as Tributes for this card’s Normal Summon/Set. Cannot be destroyed by Battle. This card can attack while in Defense Position. If it does, apply its ATK or DEF for damage calculation (Your Choice.) If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage._
ATK/2500 DEF/2100
THERE, now the card can be Normal Summoned/Set using Spells/Traps as tributes (which you can place/set on the field en masse), is immune to battle destruction (plays into the “Defense” angle), can attack while in defense position (plays up the “Attack” AND “Defense” bits), and deals Piercing Battle Damage (Plays up the “Attack” part). All while of course treating itself as the OG Dark Magician.
Attack (Spells: DM Attack/Dark Burning Magic) and Defense (Traps: Magic Cylinder/Mirror Force).
The chronicle magician cards make me feel like if the fourth blue eyes card wasn't ripped they would be in Yugi's deck and would have been alongside silent magician in the final duel
Hey TGS, I love your videos. You do such a great job. Can you please do a duel analysis of the duel between Don Thousand, Nasch, and Yuma please?
Hi TGS, great video! You forgot about one Dark Magician Girl artwork! The one 2022 Tin of the Pharaoh's Gods. It is a nice one and I believe Konami wanted to tie it in to the at-that-moment 25th Anniversary releases.
Fun fact: the anime Dark magician Girl is actually nerfed instead of 300 in the original Manga she gained 500 for every Dark magician in the graveyard the 500 is her actually inheriting his strength which is 2500
This is great! Would love a blue eyes version as well
A young Dark magician named torunka appeared in yugioh 5d.
Dark Magician is Hyper Nostolgic, love that card but Endymion is another great card the artwork is just amazing !
I keep a binder of Yugioh cards containing some of my favourite archetypes and Dark Magician has about 6 pages worth
Now do how many archetypes spawned of joey and kaiba decks ❤🎉❤
It's strange how we don't have a Fusion of Dark Magician and Blue Eyes White Dragon, maybe called White Magician master of Light
Great video! I think Breaker the magical warrior, Defender the magical knight and Blast magician would also meet your criteria, they look quite similar to og dark magician, at least, to me.
The pendulum xyz magician of hope looks like utopia with its wings and two swords
Enough to make both atem and yugi blush
Would love to see a variants videos for Red Eyes, Blue Eyes, and Summoned Skull! Great video mate
in fact in the recent duel grandpa vs yugi, Yugi used both apprentice and nightmare
I hope they make some more dark magician girl support sometime
Dark Magical Circle is the circle form of Dark Magician, made to correspond to the Winged Dragon of Ra’s sphere mode
/s
He didn't mention the story about the pyramid of light movie and watapon story
Sorcerer of Dark Magic
Dunno why but level 9 monsters are kinda sick
Chimeratech overdragon, SoDM and Spirit of Yubel
Oh I was just thinking of collecting the pairs variants of DM and DMG. Thanks for the video. Perfect timing.
Every time the word magician is said, take a shot
RIP
How’d you miss Diabellstar??? It’s a straight up homage to Dark magician!! Plus it’s even got an upgraded magician of black chaos form!
11:04 Trapeze Magician is PerforMAGE, not pal. PM not PP, Em not EM. Also, you forgot PerforMAGE Trapeze Witch.
Magician of Hope is a fusion between Yuya's Pendulum
11:35 Magicians and Yuma's Utopia.
Nightmare magician and nightmare apprentice.
I would count amazement administrator but his stats are slightly different.
I would've loved a dark magician girl variant for time wizard
Dragonpit & Dragonpulse Magician . . . .
Each one them *"discard pendulum card"* >> the DM version *_(Dragonpit)_* pop backrow then the DMG version *_(Dragonpluse)_* discard pendulum card >> then pop face up monster . . . .
Well one have 2,7K deffence and the girl one have 1,8K attack tho :') 👍👍
Btw Xiangke Magician have always partner in crime when placed as pendulum scale in Arc-V by Yuya . . . .
*_"Xiangsheng Magician"_* even she's looks like archer in card artwork . . . .
But the effect tho . . . . just support Pendulum / XYZ power combination . . . .
It's just representative of Yuya and Yuto it self . . . .
The original pair and Jaden's versions are my favorites. And I think Effect Veiler and Extra Veiler could be a pair too.
There was a Vision Hero Witch variant of Darl Magician Girl as she has dark magic attack built-in her effect
I would argue that Arcnite Magician is tied to the spin off.
King Magician Yugi and Queen Magician Anzu or Tea is the perfect names for a idea new Magicians cards monsters.
I like this video. Can you also do one for the Blue-Eyes White Dragon or the Egyptian Gods please
You forgot Dark Magician the Magician of Black Magic from Yugi new shining sarcophagus archetype
Nightmare and The OG pairings are my favorite
Endymion is unrelated, he just shares a similar colour scheme. Servant of Endymion is Witchcrafter Genai, not a Dark Magician Girl counterpart, the only similarity is that they're both blonde women.
Take a drink every time he says dark magician. This is a joke please don't. 😂
I would very much like to see a Blue-Eyes version.
DMG version of Magician's Robe.....??
Um.....I don't know....??
Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer and Pendulum Witch
Dark Paladin worth mentioning
I hate how much the cards are censored, art is art. They aren't even risky images, good on the artist for not backing down for every release
You left out a DMG Art!
Sounds like a awesome idea to do a Blue eyes video.
Did you do a video yet on how many of the manga/anime characters have monster/spell/trap counterparts based on them? Akin to "Kaiba Man", or artworks that looked like them, like the ones of Ishizu and Mai?
Dark Magician Girl with the yellow background is technically a full art card because it doesn't have the border around the art
I remember more the 2nd edition of Dark Magician Girl
Due to the games. I believe that Tea and Pegasus used that version.
Dragon Master Magia is a fusion of Magician of Black Chaos and Blue-eyes Ultimate so it is not entirely related to Dark Magician but I thought it deserves an honorable mention.
Amazing video of the different versions of dark magician and dark magician girl, fantastic job.
I always thought the silent magician was an alternate version as well 😮
Nah, that's part of the Silent duo with Silent Swordsman.
You forgot Xiangsheng Magician when you talked about Xiangke Magician, they are a duo to resemble Yuya and Yuzu as well Z-ARC and Ray, at the same time they are a reference to DM and DMG 😅
Also, the DMG version of Endymion would be Selene and Reflection of Endymion, since both have more similarities with DMG
11:04 did he just say "performapal trapeze magician"?!
surprised you didnt include Magician's Valkeriya she's like an older sister almost to DMG, plus looks like her but older
