I've been checking out a few of your lessons for a while now... You have really great, creative runs, patterns, exercises, etc, that I've found to be very helpful. I've used several to expand on and mess around with and now I've got a few new tricks to add to my playing every night. Thank you for doing what you're doing! Well done!
I know the last moment was 3 years ago ... just wanted to say thank you for being yourself ... and helping people grow musically i appreciate the effort thank you
I dnt usually put in time to practice on weekends because I wrk long shifts overnight and sleep all day. Definitely think I can slip this in b4 or after I wrk though. -Thanks brotha'! 😎
The thing that has helped alot is by taking a small note book and writing down my scales during my breaks at work. I usually write all the scales behind the notebook so that i can check them if i mess up. Super easy too do and it can be with any scale. See if this works for you cuz god damn i hate working long hours but it pays the bills.
Home diggity dogs. Lol love it. Thank you for this video. I’m a pianist and piano teacher by trade, but have had a couple recent bass and guitar gigs…very much in need of a practice regimen. This is a great starting place.
another good one. I already do partial scale sequence type things and they are great for those quick whenever you pick up the guitar practice/noodling moments because those sequences eventually become second nature and very much a part of your improvising chops. the chord practice routine is one I will definitely take away from this lesson. it's something I've never really worked on so for that alone this lesson will be very helpful for me. thanks.
I know this is an older video but I recently started playing seriously again after being away from it for about a decade because of mental health stuff and this has been *incredibly* helpful, thank you so much. ❤️
That’s a great practice routine. But you said play the triads all over the place so I played them in the kitchen, in the bathroom, in the bedroom, out in the hall, on the front porch, out on the front yard and the next thing you know I was on the street, in traffic! So I’ll have to refine that part a bit.
While I can appreciate this video, it's a bit advanced for me as I'm a newby when comes to guitar. I do practice every day at least 25 minutes. I usually start by attempting Egyptian scales, AC/DC, Johnny Cash, Aerosmith, & Motorhead type licks with a clean tone. I practice chord progressions, then practice travis picking ala "Dust in the Wind". I practice leads, blues and pentatonic scales. I usually finish with distortion whilst attempting to play riffs by bands like Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, and Zoetrope.
Thanks so much for this Robert! I've been wanting to practice more, but the usual chromatic scale up and down the neck got really boring really quickly. It's not like I'm starting to play the Guitar again or whatever, I've been playing for years, I go to Band rehearsals regularly, I noodle around almost every day. But it's very rare that I actually practice, so this is very useful, Thank You!
You are my favorite thing on TH-cam sir. Love all the vids, especially the lessons. I can say without any doubt that by following your instructional vids my guitar playing has changed for the better, much better. Practicing your licks over and over gets your fingers in great shape and prepares you for the road ahead to Shredville. Thanks so much!
I really enjoy your vids. Your content is always different/better than the same stuff everyone else is spitting. I've played for years but never could get the leads down. I've finally broke down and leant scales but that only gets you so far.
i really like this practice routine and part 2 also. I've combined them like parts of both for a 10 minute routine, I've done this for a month before another thing i work on and I feel there's a difference in my playing. The exercise I like and has helped me most is the scale exercise starting on the "D" string I think it really extends the fretboard for me. I think you are great and have great ideas but I remember seeing one of your earlier videos and thought you were channeling "Joe Dirt" :) . I'm retired but I'll be looking for a way to support you on Patreon. I've gained a lot from your lessons. One more thing. I love the tabs but you should have your name somewhere on them, maybe your logo. Rock On!
Imo you should have many more subscribers than you currently have. Great content on your channel. Very encouraging to a wannabe guitarist like myself.😁
Nobody's watching because this is dated stuff but regarding my post/questions from 2 days ago........ The scale/key used in exercise 4 from Part I is E minor harmonic. I'm still working on the chord progression but B7, F#7 and E are in the mix.
Dude, great exercises! Found your page after an r.j ronquillio q and a session today. I’m really excited to start incorporating these lessons into my playing. Thank you!
I find that 3 notes per string seems a lot easier then the standard pentatonic minor 2 notes per string as far as speed goes. Joe Bonamassa and Zakk Wylde are the few that seem to be able to shred with untinate picking on 2 notes per string. Will #3 give me the same speed as 3 notes per string if I give it the time? Subscribed as well Robert.
Man Robert, that last riff up on lower strings higher up the neck totally reminds me of a Limp Bizkit song from the early 2000s. Can't remember which, but the intro was almost identical. Great lesson, thanks a bunch!
Been doing this fairly religiously for almost a year. I still stuff up #1 too often and am slow on #2 & #3 #4? Fuhgettabatit. It's more than 5min as well, at least it is for me.
It may just be my bass player meat slab hands but these exercises were somewhat harder than I had been expecting......After three days some progress though it does help to do it for ten to fifteen minutes.
Music is win is always talking about triads but wants us to by his course for the information good to see someone chucking some of them up for free we are musician's after all
Shaun Vale just take the major scale for example C d E f G a b C and play the 1 3 and 5 notes of the scale to make a major triad... to make minor triad just flatten the 3 (so it’d be C Eb G)
Give me a break. lts FIVE MINUTES. lf the world tomorrow magically changed to 22 hour days as opposed to 24 hour days, what would happen? Would you die from not getting something done? Would you collapse from not being able to handle life? Of course not, you’d adapt and evolve. And that’s 2 HOURS not 5 minutes.
5 min finger ab workout, and if your not satisfied, the 6th and seventh minutes are freaking free man, see thats it , that's our motto man! That's what we were thinking man! C'MON MAn!
Hey Robert, it's 2 years later but I need to reach out here as a subscriber for some details about the bonus lick that you don't demo in the video on 5 Minute Practice Part 1. The sequence is C-D#-F#-D#--F#--A-F#-A-C repeated up the neck. I'm applying this all over the fretboard 'cause it sounds so cool and I want to use it. Is this progression part of a scale? And which one? (Doesn't appear to be major. I just can't recognize it.... not schooled in music theory...) And what key is your tab in? Finally, is there a chord progression that accompanies this sequence? Sorry this is so long after this was 1st published but I'm new around here.... P.S. I believe that the reverse sequence is used in a short bridge (in a different key) by Steve Howe in The Revealing Science of God (TofTO album). Thanks.
Robert! Love the channel and I really like these exercises. They sound awesome! I'm a little confused ; at the risk of sounding like a complete noob, what benefit do we derive from each exercise? Dexterity? Strengthening the connection between right/left hand sync? Busting out of stale practice routines? I ask because when my wife asked me the purpose of each exercise, my response was...."uh, because Robert said so". I'm sure you can imagine the look she gave me. Anyway, thanks for the video man! Rock on!
Im just now learning the pentatonic scale, so this is probably a stupid question, but I noticed that you were mixing up the positions and I was under the impression that the only thing that changed was the key, but that the positions are always the same and in the same order up the fretboard. Are you allowed to mix and match the positions? If you could explain this to me, I would really appreciate it because Im very confused right now. By the way, your lessons are awesome. Thanks
Check out Part 2! th-cam.com/video/lR32-vysBPc/w-d-xo.html
Oy yeah, aaaand there's more
Yeah I like part 2739 the best. LOL
I've been doing this for a couple weeks so far and I've improved dramatically. Thank you
Practicing triads all over the fretboard is a pretty good idea.
Agreed

Thank you. I’ve learned more from you than anyone else on TH-cam. Keep jamming brother. I’ll keep listening.
Just what I needed!
Thank you Jonathan!
I’m trying it right now, first time doing all 4 exercises... pretty interesting, very good job 👍🏻
That’s a great practice routine. Robert,....We love these 5 minutes everyday practice routine. The sound is awesome. Thank you. Regards from Australia. Guitarslinger.
Thanks Robert for the exercises; so useful👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great lesson, Robert. Can't wait to perfect the results of practicing this. Thank you.

Cheers for this Robert. I'm returning to guitar after a long period of time and your material is really helping me out.
I love the way that that Guitar sounds just like it looks; Fantabulous! Don't know if that makes sense but it really does..
I subscribed as soon as you played guitar and said. You know what I mean man.
😊
Who is your favourite guitarist robert.?
What a great tutorial. Unfortunatly the download links for the tabs don't work anymore. Could you please reupload them?

Thank you so much ⚡️
This video just changed my playing. This is exactly what i needed! Thank you
Great lesson! A short focused practice session with consistency-great great tip. Loved it thanks Robert!
That Charvel in the background!! Dayum.
Even your practice tone is killer. What's the chain there?
Nobody's watching because this is dated stuff but regarding my post/questions from 2 days ago........ The scale/key used in exercise 4 from Part I is E minor harmonic. I'm still working on the chord progression but B7, F#7 and E are in the mix.
Dude the right Les Paul just found me, and I'm stoked. Same color as yours.

Excellent lesson! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks from your number one fan man
This is awesome Robert, thank you. Will certainly try it. The last exercise sounds a bit like “cliffs of Dover”.👌
Thank you! This video helped me so much.
Thanks Rob, you're really great! Sometimes I just noodle around and it's not very productive.
Love this little workout Robert, it's like five minute abs ! 👍
I love your tone in this vid!
Can you please tell me what you were using?
Keep up the great work on your vids, they’re awesome 😎
These are my favorite videos of yours
Your tips are so relevant.
Congratulations on 200k man!
Robert have to precise to propose it to more than beginners or ...more than intermediaters...
That's where were comin from man! ..... love the vids brother, very helpful, thank you.

thank you, i love your videos! im still a beginner though, what is a pentatonic scale?
@robertbakerguitar are the TABS still available for these lessons?
I badly need this. Thanks
Man Robert, that last riff up on lower strings higher up the neck totally reminds me of a Limp Bizkit song from the early 2000s. Can't remember which, but the intro was almost identical. Great lesson, thanks a bunch!
Hey bud I love the lesson! The links for the tabs seem to be broken. Any chance you could re upload the tabs?
Been doing this fairly religiously for almost a year.

#4? Fuhgettabatit.

5 mins daily practice ! I’ve been trying to do the first for 30 mins just trying to chance shape 😂😂😂 let’s see in one month 🤘
D1rectedBy it’s been a month how did it go

Could you possibly reload the tabs for the first exercise? I’m having trouble getting the triads to sound the same as yours. Thanks!
Nice tone! What's the signal path?
Very nice ,any clean straight into amp stuff ......or acoustic?
Alright dude... I'm in!
Arpeggiate it.
I learned a new word today!
Do we have to practice all these exercises with metronome?
That’s just awesome, my man! Such a great inspiration, keep up with the good work!
NOTE: love that LP!
Bruh that’s literally my dream guitar just to see it in person would make my week
Love this guy
Grow the beard back in 5 minutes.
3 Card Monty 😂
Sweet. Thanks!
Man, thank you so much for this great exercises!!:)
Your videos are so helpful!
Last one sounded like papa roach last resort.
Which sounds like Iron Maiden Hallowed be thy Name
glad im not the only one who noticed
I know I already heard that riff
That last practice lick sounds like it was heavily inspired by Cliffs of Dover.
Roger Collard that’s the first thing I thought
It also kinda sounded like Last Resort.
Immediately thought the same thing.
I feel bad for people that don’t have time to practice 😭
No one
Most of people don’t

Haha.....nice to see ya in "Non-Walmart" clothes!! Hoohoooooweee!!!

Try to learn Hotel California instead of that second Point. Many picking patterns that will need you a while to learn
thank you brother
Is it ok to use the Pinky in the Box exersise instead of using the ring finger at the second box?
Great video, thanks for the advice!
great excercsie wish i could add it to guitar pro app

Thanks very helpful, but links don't work unfortunately.

Great vid dude
