    Dr. Lustig is right. You can change your life for the better. Each person has to decide if they want to change eating habits. It is a major decision. Almost 8 years ago I stopped gluten and sugar, but sugar was still a hard fight back and forth for four years. Then the pandemic. I went on keto four years ago. In total eight years of effort and with a hard fought almost 70 pound weight loss, Keto was the best routine for me. I think my body was a hard case. Some peopie have to work longer at it. It is highly individualized. I wish the best to anyone who works at this, and hope they can achieve their goals.

    I love your explanatios but l do not understand why cells budy develop insulin resistant and in the same time they need more energy ie food thus hunger. If cells need food they would lower their insulin tessiten isn't it?. In specific what is exactly the mechanism that develop insulin resistant?

    • @patriciaalford1470
      @patriciaalford1470 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Insulin is a fat storage hormone, and drives glucose into the cell, thus lowering the blood glucose. When blood glucose is lowered, but insulin remains high, the fat stores will not be released for energy, and the cells look for more glucose and you experience hunger. As insulin resistance increases (chronically elevated blood sugar & chronically elevated glucose) cells become stuffed with fat which they can't use, and, eventually cells cannot accept/use much glucose either. Metabolic syndrome progresses to pre-diabetes and fatty liver and then type 2 diabetes. Dr. Lustig's book "Metabolical" goes into the science in depth. Dr. David Ludwig's book "Always Hungry" and Dr. Jason Fung's book "The Obesity Code" are also excellent. Dr. Fung also has many good videos on TH-cam.

  • @johnmcclure2912
    @johnmcclure2912 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

    That is imprecise use of language which makes me question his critical thinking skills. He said the pancreas keeps working which leads to insulin resistance. Well the signal the pancreas uses to decide to secrete insulin is the presence of glucose in the blood stream which is not going down. Therefore if resistance in the muscle and nerve tissue exists it precedes the pancreas overdrive. Where the theory falls apart is when people go on a high fat, moderate protein, zero carb diet the cell wall resistance should go down and sensitivity should be restored hence a reversed diabetes. But that doesn't seem to be happening. This needs some serious biochemical, histological, genetic research to be done but NIH where are they. Most of US population is now metabolically unhealthy but the monied interests of big ag, big pharma, ADA, AHA and big medicine have no interest in getting to the root causes and true cures, not just management.
