Just watched part 1 and 2, love the thoughtful way you detect. Oh for a Time Machine. You have a great field there to unravel the clues. Spent Sunday searching alas no Roman , more chance of the missing ninth legion knocking on my door selling double glazing. My quest continues, really enjoyed 1&2
I'm 8 months behind I know Ellie but this was a really lovely episode! Really nice to hear woodpecker and Nuthatch in the background. I think it's lovely that you hear 'whispers'. Each of your finds is just 'that' of course. What stories they could tell..! I drove back from Bath a couple of weeks ago after a works meal. I came back via a route you'll know well. Batheaston, Bannerdown, and followed the Roman road all the way home! I was imagining all sorts. It was dark at 21:30 but I was imagining groups of Roman soldiers, peasants horses etc. Who were they? What were their names, what was life like for them? I was hoping I'd see a few and I could have stopped for s chat!! 😅
That really means a lot and I know my Dad would be delighted to read that comment as he has always taught us to be observant and in awe of nature and history.
Such an incredible days digging Miss D, you’re on fire recently. Great finds indeed all those Roman coins amazing effort and great films too. Thanks for sharing Ellie
@@miss_detectorist I can’t wait for the next one , I don’t know whether it’s beginners luck are you just got very good permissions but I wish my fines where as good as yours. Well done keep it up😊
@@tonybyron6200 I’ve undoubtedly got some good land - and I dedicate a lot of time to my search projects, and research every week too. These things put together I think are increasing my chances of making successful finds 😊
That’s good, being a chimney sweep. I have lots of spare time from now until August instead of going into my woodwork shop and making things perhaps I should spend more time researching the history around Corfe Castle. Thanks for the chat
@@tonybyron6200 for what it’s worth I’m planning a vid about how i research/look at the land (my personal technique which might add something to the pot!)
I could hear a woodpecker too when I was out detecting on Sunday. Always nice to encounter some wildlife. Shame if it's being pursued by hounds. Great finds by the way 👍
What a fabulous first coin, great detail! Your different Tesserae, I reckon was part of a circular mosaic which is why the sides are angled and top and bottom are rounded. Lovely Roman Mount and next the broken hammered coin, the rest of the must be there somewhere. The outro: You and rain, it follows you 😃
Fabulous finds in peaceful, bucolic surroundings. Doesn’t get much better. Your cinematography is superb, especially when displaying your finds. Always a pleasure to watch your videos.

Henry V111 was known as old copper nose because of his poor quality coins. He had spent too much money persecuting the Catholic Church so had to make savings hence the poor quality silver. I’ve been a Detectorist for over 50 years and still can’t get enough, keep the videos coming you are capturing the fantastic hobby perfectly, well done.
Haha well that is a good nickname! Very scruffy looking coin! Thank you for watching and for your kind comments - high praise indeed from a lifelong detectorist!
I haven't detected in over 12 mts but watching your vlogs makes me want to ring in sick tomorrow and have a day out 🙃☺
I'm going to blame the woodpecker for giving me a headache.......😇😇
Sounds like a plan!
Well done Ellie. The celtic coins are getting ever closer 👍
🤞 always hoping….

“Not today thank you” 🚪 😂 Keep hoping it’s out there somewhere! Perhaps time for a bit of geo detecting to a day dig for Roman finds!

I often drive that stretch of road. Sometimes there is a mist in the valley either side of the ridge. I think exactly the same 😂
Ellie, good collection of finds nicely found. You are doing well for yourself… John
