🥾 🍃 🌊 🏴☠️ In this video I discover a hidden path, lost to time, on a unique permission steeped in tales of traders and pirates. Equipped with the DEUS II metal detector, I'm trialling the custom JETHRO programme recommended by @thescottishdetectorist. I rate it! An intense sea storm adds an extra layer of thrill to my adventure and brings me luck too....
A fascinating piece of 17th-century silver reveals a mysterious love story from the past.

A bit about me:
Not your average bloke in camo..
Hello! I’m Ellie, English female detectorist, beachcomber, mudlark and artist. 🇬🇧 Follow my searching journey metal detecting the UK countryside and shoreline, as I learn about British history through objects.
Have I found any treasure? Well - in my first year of detecting I have collected Roman artefacts, old gold, hammered coins and medieval finds. But the REAL treasure is in the stories each object tells about people and places. Sometimes it’s the mystery objects that I love best - cracking the code of time with plenty of help from my team of trusty subscribers!
Follow me on instagram too! Same name, easy.
NEXT WATCH? THE SMUGGLERS’ TRAIL - same place, more finds! th-cam.com/video/6F-jfkn1YxE/w-d-xo.html
So pleased you found the token that I made for you Miss D! 😊
Lovely field, lovely weather, sea view and a ❤token to boot... I'm rather envious Miss D!
Nice hunt nice finds beautiful scenery thanks for sharing.
@@ohiofredl thank you for your lovely comment 😊😊
Great great stuff Ellie 💥💥 Jethro program is awesome 👍👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
Cheers Greg!
Fun hunt for sure. Nice finds. thanks for sharing!!!
Glad you like the programme Ellie .
I should use the big numbers,it’s more reliable than the XY screen.
@@jethrocarpenter3106 are you the Jethro that invented it?! Really like it. Trying to think of every excuse to get out and go over old ground again 😂
@@miss_detectorist Ellie if you want even more performance.
You can go into the Audio menu and increase the Audio Filter up to 5.
Also if you go into the Full tone menu, increase the Full tone offset to 15.
This enables you to hear the small finds better.
Also experiment with the KHz menu.
4-24khz is a good all rounder, but 4-40Khz is better on tiny silver targets.
The 4-14 kHz is deeper on deep high conductors.
Great hunt and its so beautiful there..only the Best🍀
It sure is ☺️
The loveliest part of that beautiful sunny view is you young lady.
Congrats on all the finds and the silver. I've never seen that test before. Learn something new every day!
Nice one Ellie the silver coin I would say is a milled William sixpence the favourite for love tokens😊
Yes I think that’s the one! There’s absolutely nothing left of the design but that seems to be the coin of choice for bending!
@miss_detectorist also known as a slick willy 😅
Hi, I just found a Celt Bronze Axe here in Norway today. I am so happy. And this is my second Bronze Axe that I have found. Happy Hunting!
Wow! How wonderful, congratulations to you!
👍 thank you. Nice tip about cleaning silver 🙏 and new program seems to working well!
Well, it’s more a test to see if something is silver - it makes it turn a bit black as you saw! Not sure why but it did seem to wash away afterwards ok!
@@miss_detectorist I like this silver tip .. thanks for the info 🙏Watching video about Jethro now. Interesting it’s based on an underwater program!?
Was using Jethro last weekend, and probably be using it this weekend. I've yet to get the settings for the Legacy programme.
Glad your having some good results with the new program. Going to give your permissions new life, exciting. Do you think the L shaped silver had gem's set in it, it seems like it to me, but obviously you get a closer view. 😊
@@carolh9734 it seemed to me to be the reverse of the piece - but I will check again tomorrow! 😃
I'm using the Jethro program and bloody good
U will.get used to the pops and sqeaks and I've had roman out as low as 37. Lead normally 70 to 76 90s and above will be silver and copper coins but as we know we go by sound rather than numbers
Enjoy the program
Thanks mark yes so far so good!
What a beautiful spot, a river and the sea! I lived in Polperro, Cornwall for 18 years and miss it terribly, especially the sea. I live in the middle of Canada now and only have Lake Ontario! Watch Aquachigger's video on cleaning copper coins. When you use water you lose the relief that the soil gives. I ruined an 1888 Vicky Penny. The angular piece of silver looks like a part of a shoe buckle. Nice video and a good Deus program..
Good stuff, I mentioned the Jethro programme to you at Detectival. Glad you took the plunge
Hello there! You did - and it’s been a few times now that I’ve been recommended it, so about time I took the plunge and get comfortable with a new set up!
Good 🌄one detecting, with the new program. The digital reset was a good one
Can't believe I took so long to get my head around it but now I know what to do - next time it'll be easier!
Hello! And thank you for watching :)
Ellie watching this made my weekend and such a treat not seeing you under the tarp getting drenched for a change. My prayers were answered and there is a God after all................🤣🤣🤣
😂😂 thanks - but never fear the rain will be back 😂😂
@@miss_detectorist forever the optimist lol🤣🤣
Yeay Jethro visits Devon at last! I hoped it might work for you. 👍
Thank you so much for the recommendation!
@@miss_detectorist You’re so welcome, I can die happy now! Or at least go back into the drum room and try to get this blooming part down now. 🤦🏻♂️😂
Jethro is also being used in Cornwall too! By this detectorist 👍🏻
I think that it's just crazy that a few different settings on a detector will pick up a signal you had not found before. Now you will need to go back to your other permissions to recheck them.
I was thinking that today! Imagine what’s lurking on Roman fields for example. Might head up to my medieval church permission this week. It’s a never ending adventure!
Your so welcome
Great programme I swear by it. I used it on my permission after doing it to death. I found x7 silver Roman to medieval. Good luck 🤞
However now you will need to go back over anywhere you have previously detected 😅
@@PeterDeVanney definitely seems to be finding me silver too! Excited to go over the whole permission again!!!
@@PeterDeVanney it’s the never ending task 😂
I love your videos and you are so sweet , beautiful personality wish you all the best luck
That’s really kind of you to say - thank you for watching 😊
Loved it ❤
great little video miss Detectorist
Why thank you! Thanks for watching 😀
Happy Sunday! 😃
Happy Sunday to you! Enjoy ☺️
No way I used to jethro for the first time today and I got on really well with it very punchy tones
I like that the targets are picked out nice and clear - I did get a couple of slightly quieter signals, I dug them and they were coins 😀
When a coin is worn. Shine a bright torh diagonaly across it from other side. If there is anything there it will show up.
Neat idea, thanks. In the field it’s hard to tell sometimes but a wet surface can sometimes reveal details
I've never found a love token but I was told that if the woman did not like who ever gave it to them they would discard it. So your find is probably sad rather than romantic as she would have kept the token had she liked him back.
@@komoriboy someone still gave it, that’s the romantic bit! Plus, little insight, even if girls throw it away, they’re still secretly flattered. 😂
I was yelling " love token "😆 looks like it snapped right on the second bend, wonder if it worked on the young lady or she tossed it 🤔🇨🇦
@@steveshepherd2712 I can’t believe I’ve not found one before (in fact now I think back, maybe I have but didn’t realise what it was!) Thank you for shouting at the screen!!! 😂
I have a link that explains the foil test and why it may not work on non-tarnished silver. But it keeps getting deleted! I must be doing something naughty!!!!! I don't know how to send the link! Do you have a Facebook page?
Tell me hon why a lovely lass on a finally gorgeous day only has one hour?
I'm thinking the program is going to give you many finds. Ask John where he gets aerial views of trackways and crop marks. Good luck.
Some days are just like that! Got to grab your time where you can eh!
