I have watched 2 more videos on this topic but didn't get what they were saying, nothing .But this time your video make me clear.Great tutorial. So much clear and details. kudos. Just can't leave without subscribing :)
Hi vinai. We use bitbucket and source tree for project collaboration. But I don't have any video about it yet. Its kind of a hack but basically you need to control them with gitignore. It was my partner who actually doing a lot of git set up so personally I don't exactly know the details of it. :)
Thanks for the video, but I have a question: What is the point of registering texture paths like you did at 3:04 vs creating a material library as you did at 4:40? Thanks
Texture and material are different things. The path is for 3ds max to find texture easily. And material library is, well, for us to be able to reuse materials and not having to recreate them over and over again.
thanks for commenting alonso. Did you watch the whole video? It should be very clear. If you are asking: how the material editor show smooth shaded preview of the material, it is because I'm using corona renderer. it does that to the material editor. Please let me know if this answer your question.
+Gianpietro Zirottu, it is better u put all the textures in one a drive all network members can read. it dosent realy matther that drive in a server or not. Allso u can send textures to the the maneger when u sending your job but it dosent work with simulation chace files and some others. There are some free scripts u can found, when u finish your work script can assagin new path for all your files without using asset tracking and make it painless for u.. ( www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/collect-asset )
can you archive all your textures from material library? and can you also re-path the texture path of the textures from your material library like what you can in asset tracking
Hi Arjun. First you need to save the texture path in absolute address. To re-path you can do that by opening, do asset tracking and then re saving the material library.
apparently I'm not using vray anymore cool boy. The license cost is too much for me and corona beats vray from all aspects in term of what we're using it now. So we'll stick with corona when using 3ds max. Lately we use blender+cycles also for several archviz project and result is great.
Hi Parisa, that's usually you havn't setup the renderer correctly or you are browsing materials that your renderer not support. I use Corona as the renderer and browse Corona materials
+MrArturso Hi Arturso. I don't know if there is any function that can do that in 3ds Max. Please correct me if I'm wrong. What we usually do is to save the material library file in same root folder of the texture files. So whenever we need to move everything, simply copy the whole texture library folder. This may not be the most elegant solution but it works for us :D. Let me know if this is the answer you seek.
Thanks for replying. My question is about how a material displays in your editor. Looks like a nice rendered sphere with a base and soft lighting. How we're you able to change that from the standard look?
+Youssef Zidan about 3 days from now in sha allah :) I've been busy making app and games for my new startup blastocode almost have no time to create new video tutorial. But I have more free time now alhamdulillah.
Unfortunately I have no active license for both vray and corona currently. I'm developing online courses on Blender, Photoshop and Illustrator so don't have any need to purchase those licenses at the moment. But I'll make a video tutorial about it once I purchase a new license -in sha Allah-.
Very well. I am learning 3ds max that i should have started along time ago. And this is very clear about how to organize Materials.
Tanks for sharing
Great , so clear, so simple. you make working on 3ds look soo easy .

Nice Job!
Hi Taru. Thanks for the comment.
Never knew that Github can be used to share texture folder structure with the team. Do you have any video explaining more about it?
Hi vinai. We use bitbucket and source tree for project collaboration. But I don't have any video about it yet. Its kind of a hack but basically you need to control them with gitignore. It was my partner who actually doing a lot of git set up so personally I don't exactly know the details of it. :)

Thanks for the tutorial. How do you put the images of the circles in the material library like those that you have in 5:47 m ????

+Suhaib Pulparambil Hi Suhaib, I'm glad that its helpful
When you work with pc on a lan, what you do? Do you built a library on a server? or you duplicate the library on every pc ?

Hi Parisa, that's usually you havn't setup the renderer correctly or you are browsing materials that your renderer not support. I use Corona as the renderer and browse Corona materials
how to export material library together with all textures?
+MrArturso Hi Arturso. I don't know if there is any function that can do that in 3ds Max. Please correct me if I'm wrong. +MrArturso File>Save as>Archive.
I think thats easier way. And you will have only materials/maps used.
+Gintaras J. Thank you for sharing
thank you
+Arman Abrahamyan you're welcome
Thanks for video. How to mannage this feature is limited to 1024 files. Only one of my folders has more than 12k!
Hi. I never know that. Thank you for the information
Yes, I received a message from 3ds Max. Só we have to be very selective in this library.
How did you get your material editor sample slots to look like that?
+Ricardo Alarco I already show everything in the video. Any specific things I should explain more?
Thanks for replying. My question is about how a material displays in your editor. Looks like a nice rendered sphere with a base and soft lighting. How we're you able to change that from the standard look?
Ooh ok I understand the question now. I'm using Corona Renderer that is why the material thumbnails look like that.
Assalamu Alaikum My Name is Arshad
My material mapping problem see i insert 1 images but first look more tiles image i wont first look 1 imag
waalaikumussalaam. Can you upload a screenshot at dropbox and share me the link

how to remove all library
Hi kumar. I don't think there is an option to remove all at once kumar. At least not in my version of 3ds max
ok...thanks.can you make a video how to save our Render setting...i don't want to waste time on Render setting again and again
manoj Kumar All you need to do it save it as a preset from the Render Setting Dialog.
Unfortunately I have no active license for both vray and corona currently. I'm developing online courses on Blender, Photoshop and Illustrator so don't have any need to purchase those licenses at the moment. But I'll make a video tutorial about it once I purchase a new license -in sha Allah-.
