    As our stock of Fuzz Phrase-compatible CV7003s is gradually depleting, we are proud to re-introduce it, celebrating its uniqueness and scarcity with point- to-point wiring housed in a luxurious leather enclosure.
    The most crucial ingredient when it comes to a Germanium Fuzz pedal’s quality, sound and “clean- ability”, is transistor choice. In our experience there’s nothing quite like the CV7003, military-spec OC44 germanium transistors.
    The few-and-far-between CV7003, are extremely consistent and heat-resistant, much more so than the AC128 and NKT275 transistors, placing the Fuzz Phrase in a league of its own. The CV7003’s consistency is so dependable that an external bias pot is rendered unnecessary. You are likely to never have to adjust the bias on your pedal!
    Each individual transistor is measured for gain and leakage and then hand picked and matched through sound audition.
    Along with the use of carbon comp resistors and tropical fish capacitors, the result is pure vintage fuzz goodness! Just mess around with the guitar volume to find the sweet spots, from clean, to rude, to devastating!

    Whatever category JAM decides to make a pedal for, it instantly blows 99% of the competition out of the water

      I share the same feeling regarding fuzz. Nothing seems to catch my attention until this came along and now I have one, and with a decent delay/reverb pedal, that's all I need in my board.

      Many got the wrong idea, because most of the fuzzes commonly available were limited in their use.The Benders, Faces, and even Superfuzz copies marketed, - as opposed as the hard to find originals,- were sub standard; Dunlop stopped using proper components decades ago.
      NFN, I also suspect that sensibilities have changed,with so many modern guitarists of influence relying heavily on Fuzz.I've always made due with whatever was available, - been using them for 25 years.That interior shot is what a FF is supposed to look like.

      They’re two different animals this is made from scarce germanium and premium parts hence the price point whereas the smiley uses silicon and more common parts making it great pedal in its own right

    Hi JAM, does this fuzz want to be first in the signal chain? It sounds epic, but I have a compressor and a preamp that I have first in chain, always on, and so fuzzes that want to go first in the chain don't always work for me

    • @JAMpedals-yt
      @JAMpedals-yt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi Jack, thank you for your kind words and question! Like with all pedals utilising this topology with Germanium transistors, the Fuzz Phrase can be sensitive to impedance mismatches. If you are specifically after a non-temperamental fuzz to place after your compressor and preamp, might we suggest you check out our Eureka fuzz?

    • @chriskilian2325
      @chriskilian2325 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Smiley is a simple silicon circuit with common components. This one has premium and scarce germaniums, it's a different league and the price shows it.

      The Smiley plays horribly badly with other pedals, especially a POG. The amount of noise is terrible, even using decent pedal board power supplies (Voodoo Labs, Walrus Aeotos). I own a couple of other JHS pedals (Angry Charlie, Honeycomb) which are in decent quality housings and put together reasonably well (and they work very well, especially the Honeycomb) but the quality of the construction of the Smiley is horrible by comparison. I was getting so much noise from the Smiley, I decided to try a 9V battery but the stiff, cheap wire of the battery connector snapped off at the solder before I even had chance to attach a battery. It saddens me to be so negative especially as I enjoy and find value in many of Josh Scott's TH-cam videos. The MXR/Dunlop fuzzes are much better if you want a reasonably priced Fuzzface circuit. They work and don't have the noise problem that the JHS pedals have. They are well made and are less expensive than the JHS equivalent Legends of Fuzz equivalent. The mini Fuzzface pedals are good, even the red germanium one. The Classic 108 fuzz mini is a very good little package with even smaller form factor and probably the best value silicone fuzzface circuit around, especially with the optional buffer. Jam pedals are in a completely different league to any of the aforementioned pedals, though. I have six Jam pedals, including the Fuzz Phrase and the Red Muck fuzzes (along with chorus, vibe, Delay Llama and Rooster). All of the Jam pedals are excellent in their class. The Fuzz Phrase is phenomenal both in tone and construction. If I could keep only one fuzz pedal it would be the Fuzz Phrase.

    • @marcotorres4755
      @marcotorres4755 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LennyGuitarNash Headstrong Lil' King-S, I think. Kinda Princeton Reverb on steroids. I think there's an Universal Audio Ox Top Box on top of it in the video, too (an attenuator), I don't know if fired or not, but makes sense since you need to take the amp to the point of power tube breakup so you can get a good tone from the fuzz, I guess.
      I'm waiting for a Fuzz Phrase to come home, btw. So excited!

      Thank you for your question! Increased demand along with the elaborate artwork and point-to-point wiring these particular pedals feature, put a heavy strain on our regular production flow, especially dealing with the new standards of C-19 work conditions.
      It is because of the above and our exponentially depleting NOS-parts' stock, we have decided to raise their MAP.

    • @tinyb69
      @tinyb69 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for the quick and honest answer. It looks like you went and raised prices on just about all of your products.
      I'm glad to see that during a pandemic, that someone other than makers of toilet paper, and other "essential" goods, has the demand of their products to make such a move. Your products are definitely at the top of their class. All my best to you.
