"Many years ago, there was a war, and the result of the peace was this tribute." So, a celebration in remembrance of peace. This is an amazing celebration! We could use this kind of tribute in America. But we don't think in terms of peace here. Instead we choose sides and engage directly, or indirectly as accessories in foreign wars.
I seem to recall that there's still an island off the English coast, nominally part of some Lord's lands, that still pays the Lord the annual rent in chickens and other produce.
beautiful one. I wish people in the world would follow an good example of peace on the border like this video. Israel v.s Palestine, India v.s Pakistan, Ukraine v.s Russia, North Korea v.s South Korea. and much more. when will they re-think how to make peace like this video? these people in EU is really brilliant 👏 for protecting people from crazy blood & war. When the war ends and Russia is defeated it will be a very bad thing to be part of the Russian Federation due to the stigma and war reparations owed to Ukraine (equivalent to billions and billions and billions of cows each year). My advice to their republics is to get their independence from Moscow as soon as possible. Just saying. Just saying.

Back in 1375, when the Treaty of Three Cows was entered into, the people of the Roncal Valley were not spanish. They were Navarrese. Spain did not exist in the fourteenth century. At that time in the Iberian peninsula, in what nowadays is Spain, coexisted the cristian Kingdoms of Castile, Aragon and Navarre as well as the muslim kingdom of Granada. Certainly the people of the Roncal Valley are of basque stock but they do not belong to the autonomous region called “El País Vasco” (The Basque Country) in Spain. They belong to the Chartered Community of Navarre (Comunidad Foral de Navarra) in Spain. FYI: Notice that there is also “Le Pays Basque” (The Basque Country) in France. This one in its turn includes a territory called Lower Navarre, which was part of the former Kingdom of Navarre.
@@franciscomarco8254you know what didn't exist at the time? The basque country. When this tradition was founded the lands of the modern Basque country were part of the kingdom of Castile 😂
@@themechanictangerine I wonder if you have taken the time to pin point in a map where exactly this tradition is taking place and where the Roncal Valley is. If you do, you will realise that it is in Navarre. And if you were learned in our history you would agree with me that the Kingdom of Navarre remained independent until it was conquered by Castile (and Aragon) in the XVI century. If only peace everywhere can be achieved with a treaty like this.

Aren't the people Basque on both sides of the border !?
Nope, the Spanish are from Navarra, the French I dont know
yes, they are. the other responder is a buffoon. about 90% of all Basque peoples live on the Spanish side.
The French are from the Barétous Valley in the Bèarn, a region of south-west France.
@@joseangelbravogallego9363 So where do the Basque live ?
@@guleet75 In the Basque country, (its literally called like this) a region/autunomous community next to Navarre.
It's old, but come on BBC: the hills are millions of years older.

If even the BBC now publishes videos without subtitles as the video is categorised as made in Spanish... we are well and truly screwed.

They are spanish, and anyway, that region is called Navarra, not the vasque country.
