The book was so much sadder, charlie was smiling, he refused to have the hood over his head, and he sang when he died. Also Tommo wasn't there, he was somewhere in a stable I think, and when he came out of wherever he was crying the whole camp was saluting Charlie out of respect, and it was adorable, none of this happened in the film :(
He was outside but he wasn't present during the sentence. He imagine what's happening and he sings because he imagines that's what Charlie would be doing as Charlie said he would sing that. He was right with all his predictions
i hated the film it took away every thing immersive from the book and takes away the strength of the characters this film is a boring old normal war film but the book is great its a must read
This goes to show how horrific the World Wars were (any others were and still are) but to court martial someone. To tie your own men to a pole and have them shot is a disgrace. There was huge losses of lives over war. There was people who even thought killing the enemy was wrong, and I will be damned if I hear a single one of the soldiers say that they loved the war, and they loved killing but here they were killing their own men.
I think the film made Charlie a bit of a pratt compared to Charlie in the book. he chose to abandon Molly and he wasn't as kind to Tommo either. Plus he wasn't as brave as book Charlie.
For one he was implying he was crying, 2, The movie has this wrong in the book it clearly states Tommo was not there and Charlie showed no fear he just sang oranges and lemons. >_< Ruined the whole experience for me
because my teacher said that filns r not as quite the sane as the book but like Y CHARLIE omg imagine how molly feels I love charlie as a character hes my favorite chaeactar
I watched this in class and I almost cried...😭😭😭 It wasn’t the same as the book because he sang oranges and lemons ... I still fill like I’m going to cry 😭
I remember reading this book for school and I almost cried because of the ending i found the ending so sad and emotional, now watching this scene. made the book not even harder now. One of the best books I’ve ever read btw anyone here in may 2024?
Is it bad that I cry every time I watch this film or read the book? It's certainly a favourite story of mine. However I find the book sadder, because of course the entire story is described in more detail and the ending is far sadder. Also it annoys me how they make Charlie seem afraid in the film, when in the book he was brave and smiling and singing.
WHY CHARLIE WHY!!!!!!! *burst out crying* p.s Tommo was there in the book because when Charlie was gonna get shot he sand oranges and lemons Tommo sang with him under his breath i finished the book today
Tommo wasn't with him he imagined Charlie would sing it so he sung it and they both ended up singing but Tommie was at the camp when Charlie was getting shot.
This is nothing like the book he wasent singing oranges and lemons he was smiling he was looking up at the sky and smiling with his eyes closed - and Charlie wasn’t there he was in the stable
JayGaming2515 movies are always different than the book, i.e harry potter books ect and hunger games. i havent read the book because im not a reader like i used to be. so, yes... i did enjoy this and no it is not shit from my point of view.
@@verloser dude trust me this isnt like hunger games or Harry Potter, the book is genuinely much better than the film, I would highly recommend the book, trust me u will love it
ITS SO STUPID! The book is AMAZING!!!!!!😱😢 and the film is so bad he didn't even sing Oranges and Lemons of Saint Clements or whatever it is at the end. Did they improvise this scene or something?I read this in class and my class is really noisy but everyone was so quite when we were reading it. I cried in class when Tommo said "Bye Charlie" and I set all the girls off😂
It is so sad that this happened in real life. I can’t even imagine how Charlie must have felt, and how those soldiers were being forced to shoot an innocent child. 😢
Why would they leave Charlie singing oranges and lemons out?! And when Charlie and Tommo both look at the sky so they'll see the same thing when Charlie dies :(
been reading this in my English class got to page 109 I went to have a look at the back if the book and I was like he was tide a pole and tommo cries quietly and I was like I'm gonna search it up as soon as I get home
in drama we are re enacting this and in yr 8 we will be reading the book. apparently the book is so much better. In year 7 we watch the film year 8 we read the book. so excited
Not gonna lie, the book was *so* much better. Charlie smiled at the firing squad and it said that he was singing oranges and lemons under his breath. They also asked if he wanted the hood over his head but he refused😭

i know, the book describes charlie as smiling as he walked out and singing as he died
I think the film made Charlie a bit of a pratt compared to Charlie in the book. he chose to abandon Molly and he wasn't as kind to Tommo either. Plus he wasn't as brave as book Charlie.

If you looked closely, tommo was imagining that.
he wasn't there he was imagining the whole thing but some people said that they saw him smiling and singing something before he dies
megan ha they were the firing squad that said that
Tommo wasn't with him he imagined Charlie would sing it so he sung it and they both ended up singing but Tommie was at the camp when Charlie was getting shot.
The books really good
I could barley see the words on the book i was that busy crying over this part where he sang and was smiling
Watched this in english today. so sad :(
I would get the book...but I don’t wanna destroy it with my tears.
Charlie was a real person
This is nothing like the book he wasent singing oranges and lemons he was smiling he was looking up at the sky and smiling with his eyes closed - and Charlie wasn’t there he was in the stable

Very good film, I'm also reading the Book in English!
It is so sad that this happened in real life. I can’t even imagine how Charlie must have felt, and how those soldiers were being forced to shoot an innocent child. 😢

This bit made me so sad
Charlie got noscoped by Sgt. Scrubley
They sing Oranges and lemons
Rest in peace charlie ~
I’m reading this book
this is not how it ends. This is wrong. In the book he dies singing “oranges and lemons” and doesnt cry or anything

Boltee03 WTF me 2
Charlie wasn’t scared in the book
Im reading this book now and in my english class and I thought that Charlie doesn't die and I never knew that there is a film or a video about it
0:58 when he gets shot
In the book jimmy parsons is a lot meaner but here he is like one of their best friends
Jimmy Parsons died, what are you on about?
Year 8 Squad ?
AntonioYTB yeah I'm in year 8
A couple of days before the Somme Campaign, damn
Poor lad shot by like10 bullets
This movie was an injustice to the book
Why is the movie crap??? THE BOOK IS SO MUCH BETTER in on the last page of the book in reading it in school its such a emotional rollercoaster
+Hotpink “Hotpinkgamer” gamer it looks like a homemade film which is probably why it looks quite crappy
Ellie May Battles properly
Why'd you say properly?
Ellie May Battles probably :P
209 Soldiers from the British Empire were executed via firing squad, but most recently, it was put up to 309, #neverforget
306 soldiers i meant
I note the order was confirmed by General Haig - bastard

I am reading this book such a wonderful story
I watched this in school and cried
Not gonna lie, the book was *so* much better. Charlie smiled at the firing squad and it said that he was singing oranges and lemons under his breath. They also asked if he wanted the hood over his head but he refused😭
Charlie was meant to be smiling and singing oranges and lemons.
Wtf film why did you cut that out.
I cry
And I find this really sad
1:04 vaping??
The film should of ended by the people that fired at Charlie shoot the sergeant freeing
Charlie and acting like it was a German and it is forgotten
That....is 1) insanely unrealistic and 2) not what happened in the book
If they shot horrible Hanley, Charlie would not have not got shot
What tommo wasn't there in the book
Noooooooo!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭
June 25, 1916, yet there is steam coming out of their noses and mouths as if it's below freezing. ???
