Am I the only one that doesn’t find her keeping her ethnicity hidden “strategic” or “calculated” I mean the name of the show is “Love is BLIND” if you know my ethnicity and make a decision based on that is the experiment truly “blind”?
@Jaysennx3 Yes, that's the point of the show with no context. But remember, everything needs context, especially when their about to get married and spend time with each other outside of this. If their ways of living and beliefs clash, then one might just end up in an unhappy compromise, or there will be constant disagreements on how to navigate. Imagine they choose to have kids, the amount of problems that will arise cause they can't agree how to navigate culturally will be a lot.
I agree. When I heard him say she was calculated my jaw was on the floor. If he had strong preference to Caucasian women then this show isn’t for him.
I agree that is the reason she didn't say it, but I understand his initial thought process that if she's holding back certain things is she hiding other things. I hope they both work out as her answer seemed to dismiss his initial thoughts.
My take on that was if you didn't want to reveal anything, why bring up that your mom's name could give it away? I don't know...I'm happy that they were able to communicate about it. I'm also a person who chooses my words very carefully so that my meaning isn't misunderstood.

So far, this has been one of the hardest to watch seasons, as in, the cringe is astronomical.
@@taylakurner EXTREMELY! 🤦🏾♀️
It's rough 😂
I've had to fast forward during the couples reveal because certain couples were SO awkward meeting for the first time
@@KIKIKIKIDD I didn't fast forward, but I did cover my eyes a few times 😂
the beginning with the guys singing “ain’t no mountain high enough” SENT ME TO ULTIMATE CRINGE LMAO
Stephen is a walking red flag. The mutt comment threw me. Him telling her to stop saying "thank you for your service" threw me. Him announcing he was black (I didn't see it) threw me. In their first conversation that we saw him telling her he's a cheater and her saying "I'm sorry" ??? She's a red flag too. I had to pause the show five times to gather myself and each time was during their conversations.
Okay the mutt thing I will give you that. Insane to stop saying thank you for your service it's probably because it's awkward and it's only needed to be said once. Isn't he out of the military now? About the cheating part I thought he was referencing that's how he used to be but that's not who he is now and he's learned from that. He awknowledged he was a coward and it was a terrible thing to do, so I feel like he showed remorse. Only time will tell if he has actually changed.
I find it really difficult to root for any of the potential couples this season because so many of them seem to be forcing compatibility. Because if I look beyond how they were initially "clicking", nobody seems to want the same things in life, or they bring out each other's insecurities. Feels like a recipe for disaster. 😬
Only exception so far is probably Ashley and Tyler. Those two are CUTE.
Mutt is wild. My eye twitched. 🙄
Same!!!! 🙄

@@msshug9995 The drama was crazy, I needed to pause it sometimes cause I couldn't even register what one dude in particular was sayingg
A true definition of a “Mutt” is a derogatory term because it stems from the idea that mixing, whether breeds of dogs or races of people, can result in lowering standards, inferiority, or just being stupid because they are not considered pure. Most people use it to refer to the multiple races a person is. I've never heard it used offensively, and I mainly hear people calling themselves Mutts jokingly after sharing all their races that they are mixed with. It did give me a little pause because it was my first time hearing a white man saying it to black women, but also with more context. If they have been talking for a while before that and gained some form of comfort, I don't think it would be offensive to her. It wouldn't sit right with me but I’m not surprised that it wouldn't bother others
Before I heard Stephen say he identifies as white I legit thought he was an African man, almost albino..lol he looks like a black man to me
Right so imagine what his dad looks like and his grandma was telling everyone they're Italian?? 😅😅
Same I thought he was mixed with black before he even said anything 😂. It’s evident in his features.
@@joanna0988right grandad was definitely white passing 😂! Italian was the go to ethnicity back in when he day when ever someone’s race/ethnicity was questioned.
I thought he was Afrikaans from South Africa
Same, I said to myself, "well duh, you're black, you look it !" LOL
You're being very charitable when it comes to Hannah, but it's giving she thinks she had a better option and in order to absolve herself of any perceived wrong doing she projected herself on to Nick so she started clutching at straws. The moment she realised she was on shaky ground she went crawling back. It's giving manipulative.
I don't think Queen E saying that "Nick should drop her like a hot potato" is being very charitable.
@@Miranda-gi9fx I know, but still more charitable than me 😝
What were they thinking casting Hannah?
I swear every season there is always 1 girl like that. She dumps a guy for someone else because she thinks guy 2 is more into her than he is. Only to turn right back to guy 1 when guy 2 turns her down. The first example comes to mind is Izzy, Johnie and Chris.
As a person of mixed race my face twisted all the way up when he said mutt! I would have walked out that room so quickly.
I am so sorry ❤
I did not hear him refer to himself as a mutt but definitely heard it when he said it about her. It was violent. I know the intention wasn't there, but there was ignorance that she should've respectfully corrected. Mutt is a word used to refer to dogs, not humans.
This is a fantastic way of phrasing this!!
Yeah but she gladly accepted it because she is a pick me girl 😂and agrees with him before he even finishes his sentences
What I missed this- who called who a mutt?
That word is extremely derogatory. I was honestly shocked when they said it and i can’t believe they aired it.
I personally think it can absolutely be derogatory, but I at least didn't think he meant it to be derogatory based on his tone. I wouldn't say it in person or in text and definitely cringed when he said it.
@@lanceareadbharyeah I don’t think he meant it to be insulting, I think he’s just ignorant and doesn’t consider the connotations.

That man's use of the word mutt definitely took me aback but I am from the Caribbean, so idk if this is an acceptable term for Americans. The only man I like is Tyler and I really like him and Ashley A. The other men are so odd and off-putting to me. This season so far has been... not that great to me.
Yes Taylor seems very guarded and instead of being fully vulnerable she does little things to test the waters. She said “when are you going to ask me to be your gf?” And then says No 😂 at first it seemed cheeky but then to me it turned into girl, stop playing! She seems like a cast member that will be hard to read.
Marisa seems so bubbly, but saying you will date anyone regardless of anything… I’m curious to learn more about HER personality and what she truly values being a Chameleon in that way is not a flex
I'm SO glad that someone is speaking on how some ppl like to weaponize their honesty like that. UGH! I never respond and say, "I love and respect your honesty."
Those are also the type of ppl that don't expect the repercussions of their honesty and expect to still get what they want. The same ppl that say "women don't like to hear the truth". 😂 Nice try, bud. Deuces!
I agree. Monica was too quick to just agree instead of listening and allowing herself to take in what he was saying. I just thought he could be the guy who uses therapy speak to make it appear that he has done more self development than he actually has. I didn't get a warm feeling about them as a couple.
I agree the mutt comment rubbed me the wrong way, I would’ve been offended if I was her.
I thought it was offensive. I’m like isn’t that an offensive term?

I'm from an Irish traveller/Roma descent and I've been called a gypsy mutt. Yeah it's derogatory, I feel like in his case he wasn't using it in that way but I'd keep my ear to the ground for further MA's.

Mutt is 1000% derogatory!!
Especially when used by someone who hasn’t experienced that specific kind of discrimination. Not a slur, but just like ooh… and the gall to call *her* one!! Couldn’t be me
I know I think she took it as like a light-hearted comment since he also referred to himself that way.
No , Taylor said he wouldn’t have to compromise meaning she feels and is excited about their life together so she would be open to that , that’s how I took it
Yes, that's what I heard, too
Yes exactly
Exactly!
Agreed
Monica just wants to be married chille… it doesn’t matter to who
When I was younger I used to think that men were the problem but love is blind has taught me that women can play the crazy game just as much. Sheesh, some of these women across the whole franchise MY GOD!
What I understood from Taylor's comment about timeline was that she had the 5-7 years pegged because she felt she would be scarificing a lot, but now that she has met him she feels so excited and they may not even need to compromise because she would be willing to do it sooner. Am I missing something?
I love it that there is so much melanin this season 😊😂😂 😊
Everyone is so much nicer than last season, except for Hannah and Leo
Its only episode 2, their real nature is going to be revealed after the pods
The mutt comment threw me as well, and her response confused the heck out of me! I would not just shrug off/agree with someone calling me a mutt. I wouldn't even call a dog a mutt! But I'm also not American, maybe the connotation is different there 🤷🏾♀️
No it’s derogatory period and she was ok with it….
Mixed American here...not derogatory. I think it's a personal preference, I call myself mutt all the time, some may not like it. To me it's kinda like the word B*tch, yes it's used to describe a feature of a dog but us humans use it too and it's not always derogatory.
Hannah kind of remind me of Chelsea from the last season 6. 😅
The way she keeps saying cheerleader reminds me of Chelsea and her Megan Fox reference.

This season is genuinely a bit hard to watch in certain bits. The cringe levels are off the charts.

I'm only on episode two but so far I'm extremely bored.
so it seems this show is here to prove that love is NOT blind - politics, race, religion AND physical aspect all mater when making a long-term commitment with a partner.
I was kind of shocked to see reactions at the mutt comment. I personally didnt think too much of it. I've called myself a mutt before, but I think it's one of those words that just sounds bad coming from somebody else. I think most mixed people use the word in a joking way to describe themselves, but you don't want to be called in from somebody else
I thought Taylor was saying that she would be willing to compromise. The producers are making it very hard to follow several of the couples with their editing!
I will say, when he said mutt, I had to rewind it back and listen again. I was shocked when I heard it, because my mother is mixed race, with a darker skin tone, and grew up in an extremely racist area, where mutt was screamed at her and her siblings, as a racist term. We are Canadian, and my mom grew up in the back country, in foster care, with her and her two sisters being the only people of colour in the entire community. The stories I’ve heard are sickening, and unbelievable, so hearing that term threw me for a loop. I am not sure if that term is more wildly acceptable in different areas of the world?
I'm Canadian too and I've heard people refer to themselves as mutts in a silly way. Those people were white but of multiple European backgrounds like French, German and Russia or something.
As far as I can recall, I've only ever heard people use mutt as a positive, self-referential term. Now, whether people find it an acceptable term or not is another matter.
Positive my a$$ unless you're talking about a cute mixed breed dog.....
Positive my a$$ unless you're talking about a cute mixed breed dog.....
She said self referential so that would mean people refer to themselves as a mut in a lighthearted way and I tend to agree with that.
@@pixiestxNyomouf I didn't give my opinion on the term, and used pejoratively, I'm most certainty not for it. All I was saying is was how I've encountered it.
Being called a mutt is crazy. It’s not necessarily a derogatory term it’s just rude asf. Mutts are dogs that are mixed with multiple breeds. Calling the woman you like a mixed dog is madness 😭 I’d be offended but that’s just me I guess cause she laughed when he said it 🤨
I definitely cringed. I hoped he was just trying to be funny as it didn't seem to be meant to be derogatory, but with a different tone it can absolutely be derogatory and I would never say it in person or in text.
My mom always called me and my brother mutts because we're mixed, and I never realized it was considered derogatory until yrs and yrs later. It never felt derogatory to me, and I'm low key salty I can't use it to refer to myself and other mixed race pple anymore because of how nostalgic and fondly I remember it lol.
...mutt isn't necessarily applicable to only people of color. It just means someone is a mix of a lot of backgrounds; albeit offensive to some, it's usually used between friends/acquaintances. Also, in the south, old folks used to say someone is a summer dog, summa this and summa that.
I’ve never heard this phrase before. I love the internet because that’s an interesting turn of phrase
I live in the south and I've never heard anyone say that
@@egyptianqueen4007 now you have

The women are beautiful, but where did they get these men?
Just chiming into your edit regarding someone’s comment about Hannah with the body dysmorphia.. she actually told the girls she lost 40 lbs prior to the show (can’t remember when exactly maybe a year before or something) so she was heavier and lost weight but I think she is still insecure about it. Likely she has low self esteem if she always struggled with weight even after losing it
So I watched the first three episodes blind. I just listened, while at work. I wanted to feel how they felt. It was a little hard to get their voices down, some people are pretty similar. But I was VERY shocked by how everyone looked besides Ashley (stunning) , and Britney....

I hated when he said mutt I swear I was like oh she just went along with it? I don’t like that word at all lol
as a biracial person, I've heard (and even through social conditioning) have referred to myself as a mutt in the past, in childhood. now, as an adult, I would never self identify as a mutt and would also heavily side-eye anyone who would refer to me or any other bi/multi-racial person as such. I winced when I heard our white 3/5th Nubian brother say it, but winced again seeing Monica embrace it in this current day and age at her big age. I can't discredit or be too harsh on how others decide to identify or what they deem okay, but it was definitely a weird moment for me personally and my fight or flight was definitely activated
I fast forwarded a lot.
I relate to Taylor, self protect a bit too much at the beginning stages and then ALL in… idk if that’s right but it’s very real lol

Girl, it is NOT a derogatory term. I call myself Mulato, and people would go up in arms. Mutts and mulatos aren't derogatory terms; they are simply words to describe what it is, unlike the n-word, which no one should be using, in my opinion, since it was used to be a derogatory word to put down black people. It is still used today at times to throw hateful insults at the black community by those who aren't black.
i watched all the episodes but up until this ep hannah/Brittany is the chelsea/Jessica of the season
leo is jimmy in the situation lol
21:50 "Mutt" is something I have referred to myself as since I was young. I am from Oklahoma USA and our history is complex. I thought it was very funny to respond this because it was my version of when I asked my grandma what native American tribes we were - she would throw her arms up and in a mexican accent say, "Ai, hita who knows?!"
But it was something I came up with because I knew I was a mixture of native American Mexican and European+ and it was just too much of a mouthful. But people were so offended (for me) when I said it that I gradually stopped😂
I understand taking more pride in it but at the same time in this melting pot who isn't, and why shouldn't I be proud of that❤
As a person mixed with multiple races, I prefer hybrid. Mutt is derogatory when discussing pure bred dogs, so I don’t see how it has any positive connotations for humans.
Mutt just means “mixed race”. Not daragatory from my understanding.
I’m with you girl. ❤
1:03 I want to say, for posterity, that I think something might come up with Katie soon (predent day, real time). They seem to show her a lot on clips. More than other members of the cast that didn't go to Mexico
From my understanding, mutt is definitely a derogatory term. I gasped when he said it. I was like why would he use that term. He could’ve used antier word truly.
@thequeene Mutt is not derogatory. Back in the day 70's 80's if a person was mixed nationality, they would say they were mutts. (This was usually said in the Italian community) I went to high school in an Italian community and heard this alot when they were not 100% Italian. Steven did not mean any harm by saying that.
To mention Italians and say it's not derogatory I the same sentence is.....wrong. definitely used in negative sense in that rra because they were also calling them "fake yt"....yall it's problematic. Simple as that.
Yall learning

I don’t think the term “mutt” is derogatory from my opinion it’s usually referred to a mixture of many things, BUT I can see how some may not like it, I just wouldn’t make it as deep as it is
As a person who lives in England, I personally don't find the word mutt derogatory, it just means you are mix with a lot of different ethnicities
17:28 that's too much pressure for me but also how overbearing that feels like no it's not s 3rd daughter for them it's my daughter
This season makes me so uncomfortable. It feels like I'm watching an episode of love on the spectrum. Or like the uncomfortable feeling you get at the end of the movie Catfish when Angela is drawing Nev and it gets really weird. Even the couples I like are so cringe and awkward.
When Angela is drawing Nev😅😅😅
Mutt can definitely be used negatively. I am mixed and I have used it (and mulatto), never talking about another person but speaking of myself. I don't use it anymore because I realized when I would say it I would say it with a disappointed tone, like I was ashamed, put myself lower so no one else can... I wouldn't press if someone used it talking about themselves, all tho I might side eye them, but if referring to another person I would question it.
I have heard people casually refer to themselves as mutts after explaining that they're a mix of many different ethnicities. It's kind of used as the punchline after naming a looong list of ethnicities.
I think Bohdan matches Marissa energy more so to me they match more. Ramses idk...I feel a bit of a fboy vibe from him.
On dating a Trump supporter: I remember when my long-term then-boyfriend said he didn't like Obama and would vote for Trump, I replayed the reel of our entire relationship in a new light. He had always been supportive of women's rights, worked for the LGBTQ+ services, SA services, and International services at our uni, been open-minded to other perspectives; a kind and patient man. So I asked some follow-up questions: it turns out that he thought Trump was despicable and the only reason he would have voted for him was because of Trump's views/opinions on what to do in the Middle East. My boyfriend (now husband) is from Iraq and believes Obama made the situation over there so much worse, whereas Trump had a better grasp on what to do.
🤷♀ ... and that's it.
It should be noted that we're both Canadian and my bf wouldn't have been able to vote in the US elections anyway. And also that he clarified that if they could only vote on one topic of their choosing (i.e. international politics in the M-E), he would have voted for Trump but otherwise Trump was too much of a hot mess and a joke and a ticking time bomb to actually be in office. Still, all of his family and many of his friends are in Iraq/the M-E and he feels so helpless with what's going on over there. It made me rethink how I approach Trump supporters, and maybe I shouldn't immediately write them off.
Its because of our awful two party political system. I feel like if everyone took a political survey and could vote strictly based off policy, no one would truly support either candidate. Picking someone to vote for when there are only two options is very difficult and I really don't think people should be so judgemental about it. We're all human and we all have nuisanced beliefs about how this country should be run.
Mutt is not a derogatory term or àtleast shouldn't be to anyone. It just means that you are mixed with a lot of different things. I am someone mixed with 4 races , so am referred to as a mutt a lot and I don't take it as an offense at all. I am what would be considered a 'mutt'. Thats totally fine
i call myself a mutt and never think anything of it but i’ve never heard someone call someone else a mutt until now and ehhhhh it kinda rubbed me the wrong way
I think it’s good to remember that half of America votes one way and the other half votes for another - I think people forget this when slamming people for their political beliefs on the internet
I know Marissa is neurodivergent. No one can convince me otherwise.
These pods episodes had me 😭🥹😂🧐
Girl Bohdan ain’t a refugee! He’s in US since 2yo.
I'm white but like a couple different kinds and native American, and growing up adults referred to that as being a mutt and there have been times I then went on to use that term to describe myself I stg I never thought of it as derogatory but I definitely see that now! 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
It means that your multiple ethnicities to where you don't identify with them basically.. so like someone who is black and Mexican would say that and they probably identify with parts of both cultures but for me when I get into I'm Italian, German, native American, Ukranian, and Lithuanian it's like does it even matter I'm everything and none of it cause I would just identify as white
And i understand how that seems like its everyone but really its about do you solidly identify with any of the ethnicities. For me, no. For black people that have native american or european somewhere in their bloodline... yeah they probably identify as black
Mutt isn't necessarily derogatory. It means you're mixed basically. Would never call anyone that though
I like Tyler for… me 😅. When I tell u Tyler is my dream guy 😩
