@@diverdave2179 military tradition, where you place a coin pn the headstone of veteran graves, based on your connection to the person in it. it shows the family that someone from a military background visited the grave. If you just visited it, but do not know them, you leave a penny, if you knew them, you leave a nickel, if you served with them, you leave a dime, and if you were there when they died, you leave a quarter. I visited the local graveyard, and I did not find anyone I had served with, and only 3 that I had ever known. so I left the three nickels, and just over 2-1/2 rolls of pennies.
