I was adopted and was therefore named twice, once when I was born, and then when I was adopted. I was named after my adopted mother, and it never really felt like my name. I had a very painful childhood as well. I was always painfully uncomfortable when people called me that name. My mother was very insecure about my being adopted, so once I was an adult, I never discussed it with her. When I was in my 40's I was able to access my original birth certificate, and found my name before, and I thought "yes, that's my name". I started using it informally and then last year I finally changed it legally, it's one of the best things I ever did for myself. A lot of that old pain has indeed dissipated along with that name.

How old were you when given a new name?
I guess it was extremely confusing!
Like... not feeling accepted for who you believed you were before?
You had to change yo be loved and accepted 😢💔 That's really painful!
      Bless you.
I am glad you have your first name and are much happier now 😊 😅
Always loved and accepted yourself 😍🥰💖
      Amazing what names can do.
I was always Francesca, then it changed to Frankie.
My dad told me he liked Francesca and Frankie Fraser was the same name as a killer gangster.
That was no good for me.
All though I am ok with Frankie again now.
For years I felt uncomfortable but I am comfortable with it again now.
I am not my name. I love both names 😊💖

My 4 year old daughter asked me, "Mama, can I change my name?". I instantly got the biggest smile and answered "Yes of course, what do you want to be called?", she said: "Fleur Fraise", which is French for "Flower Strawberry". It completely melted my heart and made me soo happy, and now she goes by the name "Aya Fleur Fraise". My 5 year old suggested we could use that name as a family name. I do have the want to change my name and I know it'll happen when the time is right. I do sense a worry about my parents reactions about me taking away their names. But at the end of the day, it's just names. Nothing is lost, only reborn.

LOL at around 1:30 when Eckhart says having a name is easier than having no name, no form etc. reminds me of doing mediumship and often I see the spirits as blue light but in my mind they share an image of what they looked like at one time in their life sometimes which is a lot more evidential than me saying for example "yes your grandma is by your side now, she's a lovely little beam of blue light". 😂.....I mean I understand formlessness and unity and all but sometimes to navigate this 3D earth life some mode of identification is helpful...

He's got very little mind / ego left though so he's much more spiritually advanced than most of us will be. If you read accounts of Jnani's on Self Realisation, they never sleep.. even if the body is fast asleep, they remain completely aware of their own existence. They live in non-duality, no duality what so ever. They are everywhere, within you right now.. There's no mind / ego at all, they describe it as pure peace and bliss. I've never heard Eckart describe the direct experience the way Jnani's do, which means he still has a subtle level of mind.. it's not completely died in the heart yet.

When I became homeless and went to a city I had never been to before (by a calling from the heart), I knew a new name should show up for me, as a deep intuition was saying. But I knew it wouldn't come from my active choice.
After some time I came to know some beautiful souls in that city. As they learn the story of how I ended up in that city, one young girl said to her mother: "he's so free that he seems like a little bird" (little bird in Portuguese is said "Passarinho"). Then out of the blue, she would meet me in the streets and instead of calling me by my name, she would just say "Hi Little Bird!" (Oi Passarinho!). Of course I knew immediately that was my new name. And it reminded me of the metaphor that was used some 20 years before, when my spiritual guide associated my personality with a little bird that was free to just let go and fly away.
Eventually I came back to my "normal" life after a lot of unforgettable experiences in that city. But I didn't feel the need to keep that name to my old friends and colleagues. What I found in that city (rather inside myself) was enough to make me identify with the formless and the nameless. At a certain point, it wouldn't matter anymore what name I would adopt. The "little bird" stage was just that, a stage. And yet I'll never be anything other than the little bird.

It didn't take time. It had nothing whatsoever to do with time, effort, or choice. It occurred faster than the speed of light. The children are ready to be set Totally Free at the earliest age so they don't waste their entire lives with any mental afflictions.

When I was really little and still learning how to speak properly, my mom asked me and my sister what we wanted our names to be if we could change them. My sister gave some cute girl name she liked ,and when it was my turn to answer, without a beat I said,
    “Eck”.
We occasionally remember and laugh about how odd it was for me to say, but now that I’ve seen this I’m starting to think it’s a lot deeper than I imagined.

On the inability of being understood and loved by others, I wrote this poem in Dutch, but translated it in English afterwards:
    "The Glass Wall
The Ancient Wall is shining through
and I can see a glimpse of you
that shows me you are near.
The causal link of time and space
    extensive as the devil's maze,
    it seems to disappear.
I try to take your hand
    and make you understand,
    but vain is my endeavor.
    So shall I just accept
that you are to be kept
    apart from me for ever?"

This guy is a true mystic. He didn't directly answer the question. But more importantly, he set the stage for why the change came about. i.e. It is not about the name change itself, but a whole slew of factors, including the burden he carried from childhood and the "synchronistic events" that naturally led to the change in moniker. We may refer to this mystic as Eckhart, but I think internally he still considers himself nameless and formless. True mystic.

@@jodiesalmond5663 An advanced soul who takes over an existing body...Thats the idea, and sometimes the difference is so pronounced it certainly appears that way. In fact it doesnt actually happen that way.
A popular example being Saul becoming Paul in the Christian tradition. Such examples demonstrate how extreme our" bodies" can be, until we realize the authentic self, which is always there.
Eck is the name of the primal sound by the way. Eckankar is the spiritual organisation closest to the origin..

I delight in the humor in these talks. Cool perspective on names absorbing all the experiences in life and how shedding it can symbolize and be felt as a shedding of the old identities and stories. Also, really glad you stuck around and ultimately sought to liberate the self from the emotional and mental pain experienced through awareness, then guide those of us seeking the same. Lastly, fell in love with Glastonbury during an extended stay there; is quite possibly my favorite place I’ve been to so far on the planet. Can so see you living happily there. Your brief, general description was spot on and hilarious.

A name as a label can trigger both positive and negative emotions depending on the association.
During the hippie movement people renamed themselves to whatever gave them Good vibrations.
Gamers even go by their handles now. When you are called by chosen names it brings the feelings that you wish to invoke. Naturally a stage name is necessary for a public personality, but it was a comedian who once said "call me anything but late for supper". It was funny, but it also showed a complete surrender to sound patterns that were given to you by others.

    • @davidalbro2009
      @davidalbro2009 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@queengoblin Sort of. Synchronicities are events that in of themselves are unremarkable, but become remarkable in their frequency or juxtaposition.
These instances were specific and esoteric that are remarkable and inspired all by themselves.
For example, a psychic reading accurately predicting your future is not synchronicity, but it might be divine guidance.
Hearing your dead best friend's favorite song on radio on their birthday is a synchronicity.
Neither the dream nor the psychic utterance were synchronicities in of themselves but were divine messages. Taken together, that is a bit of a synchronicity, but as I said, more divine guidance.

    brave; hardy
Ekkehard (and Eckardt, Eckard, Eckart, Eckhardt, Ekkehart) is a German given name. It is composed of the elements ekke "edge, blade; sword" and hart "brave; hardy". Variant forms include Eckard, Eckhard, Eckhart, Eckart. The Anglo-Saxon form of the name was Ecgheard, possibly attested in the toponym Eggerton.

A few weeks ago, i've considered the suicide as a way out of all the caos inside my head... But then something made a "click" on my mind (ironically): I remembered I still have many dreams to concrete, places to visit, and people to know. And I simply felt not corageus enough to jump out of my window.
I found so confortable that he has exposed his experience at the age of 8, like it was something lost in the past he can laugh at. And that (indirectly and without intention) he invite me to do the same, instead of looking at that moment with regret or fear.
My birth name is "María Fernanda" (the peaceful warrior), but I choose to be called as "Maite", because of the meaning of the name: "the one who has lot of love".

I need my name changed but I didn't want to go back to my birth name or my father who wasn't there and didn't deserve the privilege anyway, my brother cut that off for the same reason. We never knew anyone by our dad's name, I had to repeat the process and choose to be an equally unwanted woman so I really cringe using my divorcee name even though its Ms x the Mr is written out obviously, his choice. I was thinking of maybe Taylor since I literally made (like a dressmaker, a form maker, one who Taylor clothes to fit a body, is called a Taylor). Don't think it's too pretentious.. Its just been difficult to untangle certain accounts, like my social media.
Before my meditative philosophy made sense I used the name simply to hold to account, pointless exercise but it was my subliminal message of his persecution of himself, especially in court when it was a farce attack on character. In conclusion, eckhart is correct about names carrying pain with them.
