The creation engine is just dagger falls havoc engine modified and over complicated beyond belief they renamed it creation engine after elder scrolls 4 oblivion and Skyrim started just to make people think it's a new engine oblivion had glitched drop item physics and another sign is the release version of Skyrim had the leftovers from oblivion where you had to pick up weapons by hand from the ground unlike later patches where the weapon was attached to the corpse npc inventory

Mannequins are even creepier. The mannequins in Skyrim are actual NPCs of the mannequin race with their AI disabled. But sometimes when you load the cell they walk around.
Using the sledgehammer is sort of like how people turn into ghouls from radiation. Exposure to the sledgehammer turns you into the new Peter Gabriel. Sorta like umbra meets ghoulification.
I think Oblivion has the best lockpicking minigame, followed by Skyrim and Morrowind (no mini game in Morrowind). The thing I dislike about Fallout 4 is that you cannot attempt to pick a hard lock without the requisite perks. This ruins the immersion for me, if I want to attempt to pick a master lock, let me. If it's made by the company of the same name I believe I can get it open.

hey Mickey idk if you know but heres a few little tips for fallout 4: tapping the grenade key allows you to perform a melee bash, holding the activate key will let you grab and move loose objects like in TES iv & v, and you can recolor the light your pip-boy emits in the settings. although running at dead bodies and falling to your death is objectively more funny that just lifting them with your mind powers.
The shared melee/grenade key is the gripe of fallout 4 players since release. Oh, and I tend to keep my light in a warmwhite. Sort of a yellowish-orange-white. Feels much more comfortable and seems fitting.
The mascot head/bear mask is in the game. Its worn by a raider boss who contracted rabies and is beginning to lose his mind as the virus starts affecting his brain

Not so much horror but very intense, you should try Fallout New Vegas : Dust. Its a super hardcore total conversion of the game that makes its 10x more difficult but recreates the entire world of New Vegas. The fun part is exploring the world Also the mod author made Fallout 4: Frost which is the equivalent for Fallout 4 but the fun part of it is that its a Fallout prequel mod that takes place shortly after the war. All really fun
Fallout 4 Whispering hills is a pretty good horror mod it has like custom modal enemys and locations It heavily takes inspiration from silent hill. Though I'm not sure how long it is exactly. Its got voice acting aswell. They have a website and everything.

To be fair key hunting with no direction is the very essence of Survival Horror. That's 90% of the gameplay of the OG Resident Evil and Silent Hill games.

Fallout 3 got immersion in the atmosphere spot on, but ppl didn't like it being desolate Fallout 4 got the gameplay very much upgraded and graphics didn't look like total booty. New Vegas got the roleplaying aspect amazing. Let's Hope that Fallout 5 gets everything.

FROST Survival Simulator mod. Some nice additions to it: Detailed Feral Ghouls, Reverb and Ambiance Overhaul, Towbie's Realistic Weapon Sounds. FROST is a complete overhaul of the game, so make sure to back your files up, also get the fps fix patch for it.
Fallout 4 is a horror already...well...about 2% of it. Also you can't really not call Fallout 4 an RPG...cause it have like...5 to 20% of RPG, if you try hard enough.

The scariest part of fallout 4 is downtown boston with all of the building pieces being separate instead of combined, causing the games framerate to drop dramatically on every system
Even worse if you got mods installed that break apart the precombined geometry. One thing that actually helps is reducing shadow render distance. And just to hammer it home: medium is 3000, high is 14000 and ultra is 20000. But somewhere around 5000-10000 is a good value that performs decent and looks decent. I'm usually running 7000 and that works just fine.
This is probably gonna get buried, but there are two very good horror mods for New Vegas by the Mod Author Azreal831. Specifically "Enjoy Your Stay" and "The Story Of The Cellar Door" I remember playing them all the way back in 2016 thinking they were very well done and still think about them to this day. You should check them out Micky. They're a bit on the shorter side but based on my extremely limited knowledge about you, I think you'd enjoy them. Cheers.

Running through a building, killing ghouls and collecting junk and caps and ammo. This is a horror mod? just seems like typical fallout 4 with more pissing about to me. this place is basically that trap building made by the killer guy with the blood paintings. i can't fathom how people think this is in any way scary?. its just fallout 4. :/

Hey Micky if you want a very decent horror related mod to try out, try Childen of Ug-Qualtoth. Very lovecraft related, and ironically (mostly) lore friendly.

Ay love seein these mods there was one I played a while back that was pretty good called Children of Ug-Qualtoth I'll warn ya it does require a high level character or a lot of ammo

I recently played the The Uncanny Valley Research Center mod for new vegas. It takes part on the old world blues area. and it's short, but really well done.
Tbh this wasn't a very good horror mod. Lighting and enemies being a big part of why.
