- Season 04, Episode 124: hey squad! wanted to use some of the down time here to go over the gopro gear that i bring with me on a daily basis to produce my ski videos. i go over the cameras that i bring, the accessories and share some small tips and tricks when it comes to storage and the overall production process. i highly recommend binging the videos on Abe's channel to really learn about how to use a gopro properly.

Speaking of filming gear, considering that you're a cinematographer, have you ever considered making some videos on filming and your general workflow with videos?

I bring a cheap pair of glove liners and put my spare batteries inside them and sometimes even throw a hand warmer in that pocket.

I bought the Tiffen ND filters and really looking forward to using them. A video on analysis of ND filters would be really cool. These camera gear vids are really awesome as I really enjoy videography, but have yet to really get into it. You’re a huge inspiration for me, dude!

Thanks for the video! I recently bought a GoPro max and I noticed a fair amount of distortion on the edges. Do you do anything in premiere pro or the GoPro quick app to correct it? Thanks again.

Hey Lucas how do you manage the slow upload/media transfer speeds from the gopro? Love the vids keep crushing it!
i dont upload directly off the gopro if thats what you mean? i have fast SD cards with high write speeds so my data transfers arent really that long!
Curious. Don’t want to stir up a mess. But, curious what you or other folks here think of GP vs Insta360? The latter seems to be getting a lot of buzz of late.
Always appreciate these videos! You've gotta do one for video editing. Just let the camera roll while you edit and make it 4 hours long LOL. Maybe special live stream edition?

Settings I use on my max are: 360 mode, 5k/24 fps, iso min 100 iso max 400, auto shutter, 5500wb!

Hey Lucas, I was thinking about attaching a GoPro adhesive mount to my helmet and am wondering if you’ve had any issues with the mount falling off. I’m just nervous the adhesive doesn’t stick enough and the camera falls off. Thanks man!
nah never had any issues. heat the adhesive up with a lighter before sticking it and let it sit for 12 hours before bringing it in the cold and you should be fine.
Fell on my canon on hard pack “ice in the west” thought I hurt my back for a minute. Now iPhone pro max and have been playing with the moment anamorphic. It is good but the canon is better.

Excuse me if I missed it in the video, but how much does the loaded pack weigh? Impressive that you’re throwing 360s with all that equipment on your back.

Lucas what u recommend for POV shots, hero + max lens mode or gopro max?
I would only recommend the GoPro max if you have experience with editing and use adobe premiere pro + fx reframe plug-in. If not, the GoPro 12+ max lens mod 2.0 is super solid for pov.
Any safety equipment given you are often by yourself in the trees?
No just camera gear! Maybe a granola bar if I remember it

No hate. Both are great cameras - the GoPro is just better image quality. I also support their story as a company and appreciate the athletes they endorse and content they have put out over the years.
I’m too dumb to record anything skiing 😂 but if I did this would be so helpful.

How do you know when you're recording? I've always found that it's hard to tell when you're gopro is recording or when it's not recording, especially when it's on your head.
I take it down before every run, hit record, clean the lens then put it back up on my head!
I love the chest mount for this reason, it's awesome because I can see it on my chest when I'm going down and adjust

I also use the lock on it. I always seem to loose one run a day still.
