Korean Italy Towel - How to use and exfoliate your body at home

  • Simple Korean skincare solution for dry and itchy skin! Using a Korean Italy towel or exfoliating cloth will bring skin benefits and eliminate dead skin and shrink clogged pores.
    In our 40s we want a smooth even glow. But if skin is not exfoliated, and you are exposed to the sun, your skin will become uneven, wrinkled and dry.
    Tanning on top of dead skin is unhealthy because you are just taking away more hydration on skin that is already dry, and here come the wrinkles and age spots!

    Thank you so much!! I know this vid is old but i just got my italy towels and wanted to know how to use it correctly. My sister and I were never taught to take care of the skin on our bodies (only face) so I hope introducing this in our late 20s will help a little bit! 😂

      @melissabailey5930. It’s never too late - especially in your 20s so feel good about trying! Even for those starting in their 40s there are skin benefits from exfoliating and the summer is the best time to eliminate all the dry and dull skin from the winter months! Thanks for watching.

    The reason why it was called 'Italy Towel' was that the thread called viscose was imported from Italy and produced through a grinding and weaving process in Korea.

I came across these as I was looking for Korean Bodycare Lotions as I have been using the Korean face masks for the last few months & in such a short while the skin tone on my face is amazing. With lots of water & clean eating I actually reduced my age by about 10 years within a month, so of course I am addicted. Have not found a whole body mask or lotion yet to lift & firm like the face masks but still looking😁

    Thank you for this helpful video. It looks to me as though you actually turn off the water (shower) while you scrub. Is this correct? Also, do you have any hints on how to reshape the cloth after use because I have large hands and I’ve heard the cloth shrinks like crazy after getting it wet.

    • @mein40
      @mein40  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello @Moira Kirstin Boyd. Yes, after soaking my body, I do turn off the water while scrubbing mostly to save water ☺
      The cloth doesn't really shrink, but if you are finding that it does, then drying it in the sun by laying it flat and using a mug to retain shape will help. open the towel and swallow the mug with the towel so it stretches out while drying. Otherwise, there are towels that are longer like the yellow one in my video, so you can try that.

      Hi Angie! Yes it is safe. Be sure to start by using the pink towel as it is the most gentle and once every 2 weeks.

      Hi @SugaSwag, I love moisturizing right after the shower to lock in the hydration from the shower. I like naturally scented, or no scented products like pure aloe vera (hotter weather), shea butter (dry colder weather) or clean products since the skin on our body covers alot of surface area!

    • @mein40
      @mein40  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Steam from the shower is beneficial, but if you are conscious about water conservation, I suggest do all your washing (including shaving and hair wash) in a really steamy shower and as the last step, you can exfoliate once your skin is fully soaked in water.

    Do you know if it helps with Keratosis Pilaris ?( chicken skin ) juts got them today and came across your video obviously I didn't know how to use it lol so thanks for the explanation... if you have tips for KP use would truly appreciate it, it's my big insecurity :(

    • @mein40
      @mein40  2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Hi @Pamela Salazar! Sorry for the delay ~ I chatted with my husband who is a naturopathic doctor about this because it's tricky to treat Keratosis Pilaris with skincare alone, so I wanted my response to be more helpful. He mentioned while every case is unique to each individual, he has found that usually Keratosis Pilaris appears through the skin because of the body's inability to effectively breakdown fats. Foods that for sure can aggravate it are coffee, refined sugars, dairy so if you can, try to avoid. Also the body may not be able to breakdown fat soluble vitamins, which can require treatment beyond avoiding the above trigger foods, but something that may help is taking essential fatty acids like a 3:1 EPA:DHA fish oil.
      In addition, you could be deficient in vitamins B1, B3, B5, zinc and magnesium, so supplements are a good idea. Of course, these are just general suggestions and if you want better results, it's best to ask a doctor who knows your health for tailored advice.
      For the skincare, I find that the Italy towel really does help because the itchy bumps are a build up of keratin and dead skin cells on the surface of the skin so exfoliation is a good habit to develop and over time, the bumps will go away. Try to use the pink one first and once every other week initially (starting gentle is key). Friends have also seen really great results with using the Italy towel in the shower, then after drying off, applying a AHA or BHA serum. I recommend COSRX because it contains a good amount of AHA / BHA while being really affordable.

I have been using AHA/BHA mixed with a hemp lotion after showers on my legs past couple months since I use an epilator on my legs again. I often get those annoying red speckles. My health is not great, but it isn't an actual medical condition. • @mein40
      @mein40  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@paintedstars2 the AHA BHA will help ensure that dead skin does not sit on the surface. I have not used an epilator before so I had to read about it. The skin must feel so sensitive afterwards! If sensitive from the epilator then the Italy towel may be too abrasive and not help reduce those red spots. What's the maintenance for this towel? Do you throw it away after a few uses? Or maybe you wash it in the washing machine like a regular towel?

    • @mein40
      @mein40  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I wash it in warm water after each use to makes sure there are no skin cells left. Then I dry (in the sun when possible).
      It lasts a long time too. Putting it in the washing machine may cause damage to the towel but it can also snag other items in the washing machine so I tend not to do that.

    Hello
    Thank you so much for the informative video
    I had a few questions about the usage of the glove:
    A Instead of before, can you use a body wash or cleanser after you're done exfoliating
    B Will this in any way maybe aggravate strawberry legs ( minor nothing like KP)
    C Can I use body oils after exfoliating or will it maybe clog the pores more? Eg if I use baby oil on my skin and it is absorbed easily, after exfoliating will it maybe penetrate and clog the pores on my arms or legs?
    Thank you once again for the video! Very well done 🥰✨️

      Hello @haza blast. Thank you so much for your interest and feedback - it means so much to hear from you!

    • @mein40
      @mein40  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Here are my responses @haza blast:
      A) Yes, you can use body wash or cleanser after the Korean Italy towel, but the reason why I recommend using it before is because when skin has been exfoliated, it is more tender and certain ingredients in the body wash may irritate (unless you use a cleaner safer wash, then there is less risk).
      B) I also have strawberry skin, and I find it is okay. If you use the pink Korean Italy towel which has less abrasive surfaces, it will be gentler than the green towel.
      C) If you are using oils, I recommend a cleaner high quality. Look for natural ingredients like coconut oils, avocado, grapeseed, and tea tree oils are soothing, rather than petrolium or other lesser quality. Some baby oils have other ingredients, so it's good to look at ingredients first. Better quality oils will not clog the pores. :)

      Thanks for the question! Yes there is a difference - the red is the gentlest exfoliation so best for beginners and sensitive skin. The yellow is abrasive for really dry skin and the green cloth is in between the red and yellow (for most people the green does not irritate and works well).

    • @mein40
      @mein40  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Justin! If you are trying for the first time, it can take a while longer for your skin to soak. When you use the towel, try it with a little bit more steam. If you regularly exfoliate, it could be that the areas you diligently exfoliate don’t have as much dead skin. Try the areas that are often neglected like your ankles, neck and your back. Also backs of the legs.
      I hope you have more satisfying results next time. If you still do not see dead skin rolling off then try a different colour towel. Sometimes the different texture works better. Like the green or yellow rather than the pink one which is the softest.

    Can you throw the rag in the washer?

    • @mein40
      @mein40  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! You can, but wash it separately from delicate fabrics because the abrasiveness of the towel can ruin other clothing! It is best to hand wash it after each use and let it dry naturally.

    • @mein40
      @mein40  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! Moisturizing immediately after rinsing away all the dead skin cells with lock in the hydration and keep skin soft. I like using essential oil based products when skin is extra dry. Thanks for watching and let us know what products you use to moisturize!

    How many times can one use it ? Does it self clean ? It’s not an exfoliator ?

    • @mein40
      @mein40  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello @petitepatate! It is an exfoliator and to clean it you would use soap and warm water. Best to let it dry in the sun or natural lighting. You can also machine wash them and they are good to reuse until you feel the abrasion is no longer effective.
      Your skin will tell you how often. If you see dryness or feels itchy then it is time to exfoliate. Just be mindful to moisturize immediately after exfoliating, washing off and drying your skin to retain maximum moisture and smoothness.

      Yes! I don’t take baths often but I love using it in the shower. Just use the Korean towel after soaking yourself in the shower first. 1. Wash and rinse hair, 2. soap your body and rinse and 3. Exfoliate and rinse off the dead skin with warm water

    This mitt isn't working on my skin even after properly following the procedure...can you please tell me what am i doing wrong

    • @mein40
      @mein40  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi @deeznutz. I’ve heard and read comments that the mitt can be too small for some people’S hands. My tip has been to scrub in one direction so that the mitt doesn’t slide off.
      But if you mean you aren’t seeing the dead skin cells coming off, it may mean you need a deeper soak of your skin. If you are showering then try warmer water until your fingers prune.
      Also, sometimes it takes a few tries to get skin to roll off. Especially if you’ve never exfoliated with the mitt before.
      Please let me know more details of what’s not working if you need more help.
