I've been looking for a suitable crawler for my son's first r/c model; thought the Kanyon looked amazing until I saw those mounts. Your solution is brilliant, simple engineering. Thank you for sharing!
I've done this with mine aswell it makes such a difference. Another good idea is to move the spot lights back so they won't break in the case of the jeep rolling.
What an amazing job at reinforcing the structure. Love what you’ve done with it. Wanted to ask what the average drive time is for you with the lipo battery that it comes with originally? I’m thinking of getting one of these for my bday
Thank you it really is a simple job to do too. You don’t get a LiPO with the truck it comes with an 1800 mAh NiMH that we don’t use! We don’t use LiPO batteries either so we use 5000 mAh NiMH batteries and get over an hour of run time out of that. We have put a faster motor in ours so now we get about 45 minutes run time.
Interesting. I've seen square tube used as well. I think if I used the L section I'd drill the flat plates near the end and bolt them through as well. Nice idea though
That's what I'd do too! I still can't believe they'd produce a model with only those small square plastic mounts securing such a load, and would receive all the impact too from a tumble. L bracket definitely the way to go.
Hi there dear TH-cam friend, thanks for the information. What is the pice of metal called that you bought from screw fix? Would I also be able to buy it from B&Q or Wicks? And it's 15mm each side's?
I am thinking about lifting the body shell including the L shape bars and the bumpers for around 20mm and using bigger diameter wheels. Any experieces with bigger dia wheels on the Kanyon?
Can’t wait to go on a phew trips with you guys it will be great. I think my hyper might be able to go up the hills u go up because it is 4 wheels drive😂😂

I just paid £149.94p for my brand new FTX Kanyon, I already have 2 x TRX-4s but this will be a great little project for me 😃
Measurements of the L-shaped alloy rod please? Thank you!
Silberner Surfer 2 lengths at 15 x 15 mm x 460mm long.

didactylos4 diddy4 Yes that would definitely prevent any chance of it lifting up.
Thanks for watching.

Aluminium L shaped 15x15 x 1000mm you get two lengths out of that. a link is in the description for Screwfix (it’s not a sponsored link)

Brilliant thanks a lot for all your help
Good cheap fix, I was looking at these a while back and then ended up getting a FTX Bugsta then got the colt 👍
It’s a lot better with the fixes. We feel more confident out on the trail now and not worrying about it falling apart on us.😂
Thanks for watching. 👍
im surprised! only those things are the weak points? how about servo? radio? gears doesnt have any issue?

Silberner Surfer not with bigger wheels we had to lift the body a bit because the shell was always rubbing on the stock tires.
Good fix. definitely looks more capable of taking some stick.
Thank you. Yes it’s a lot better now.
Bought a Kanyon today. currently in the process of doing the fix, must've re-watched your vid a dozen times lol. Thanks
rizla1 _uk 😀 cool hope you like it and the fix goes ok. I’ll watch out for your videos.

All our cars are 4 wheeled drive and as far as I can remember only the the TRX & possibly the Summit have made it out of the big ‘Ole. 😂😂
I don’t think I’m going in there then 😂😂😂😂I wouldn’t like my car on 3s and it can’t go up the hill with the wheels just spinning at 60 mph😂😂😂😂
It’s all part of the challenge 😀 but all our cars have taken a tumble down the big ‘Ole even me 😂🤣😂🤣
Saludos desde Crawler RC
