That Rosti looked cooked to perfection. So nice to see the awesome Trangia 28T being used for real cooking and not just for soups and such. I love my 28T and also cook real meals with it. In the USA it was so misunderstood for years and viewed more as a toy kit. It'sa powerhouse of a kit when used correctly. Good on you for making a great meal dish with it. Very Nicely Done.
Pamela! Thank you so much for dropping by and for the lovely words. I’m pleased you manage to cook real meals in your T28. As you say, it’s misunderstood.
Nice one, that rosti looked awesome, I'd even be tempted to add in a tiny bit of mustard to compliment the other flavours that you have going on. And yes, I love a bit of Trago Mills. I don't believe you get them outside of the SW and certainly not here in Kent, but I was in the Bodmin store just last week! Thanks for sharing 👍
Big up Track Mills, didn't realise you were located in our part of the world. Rosti looks great, I've got the Trangia 27 so will definitely be giving this a go on my next dayhike. Cheers for all the content loving the channel been watching since your collaboration with Trev ages ago.
Hi Thom. Got to try this one, I was given a mini grater from a friend years ago. What a good reason to use it. Adding Coleman’s mustard powder will bring out the flavour of the cheese & meat. I add it to my cheese pancakes.
Great recipe Thom! You could also use the bottom of the Trangia pot to flip on to and then slide it into the pan. Reckon i'll be giving this one a go on the Trangia mini soon!
No taste test at the end. It looked good so I'm guessing it tasted good. We do eat with our eyes so they say. I found whe I used the Gerber Compleat as tongs with the Trangia Mini the other day it was a little bit awkward turning the sausages. It may have been the fact that the snags didn't want to stay on the side I put them on. So I improvised and put a piece of bacon in to hold them in place. I often cook on my camping stuff outside because it gets too hot in the kitchen here in the tropics.
Unfortunately I had to cut the vid a little short. But yes it was fantastic. I haven’t found the gerber/ mini combo to be awkward. Maybe my standards are just low! I love the bacon improv. That’s genius
Class Thom, definitely one I'm gonna try out for a breakfast in the hills someday. Might go for a bit of bacon in it though :-) Thanks for the inspiration!
Wow! We call that Rösti, but I habe never seen this version. This is something I definitely will try in the mini. Looks like a nice meal on the trails 👌🤌. Thanks for sharing Thom! That kit with spices was really nice! Link in info?

I have to admit I got pretty excited when I realised you had the beef and cheese as a layer in the middle. Why have I never thought of that? Genius! 😋

You’re not the first person to suggest mustard. I’m kicking myself for not doing it.
However it means I’ll simply have to make another one. Oh well!!!

Looks lush. I guess for a veggie option, you could simply do cheese and onion.
Going to try that one. Ummmmm food.
