When the A7 series and a6000 a lot of pro photographer ate crow. The whole photography industry owes Sony a huge debt. If Sony never came out with the A7 and a6000 series, the whole industry would still be stuck in the the stone age off DSLR.
all cameras are good, the real dealbreaker is the person using it
Yes and no, at a certain point yes but that’s more after getting a mid quality+ camera. Yes that may be true for photography, though a better camera can still do you far better in that regard but video capability is definitely limited in worse models
@@shawnhitt5312 thats true but a professional photographer would always take better photos/shoot better videos than a person starting out with a 3000$ camera, but yeah a good rig is always just a plus
@@bornamilicevic3316 My professor in college had the sharpest black and white prints and he made his own pin hole camera with a metal tin
Lmao, this entire video (clickbaity as it is) is about the development in the camera industry. Until Sony A7 (gen 1) was released the only professional cameras were from either Nikon and Canon. If you went into any photo studio or watched any big sports events, you only found Canon or Nikon. Sony was terrible during the DSLR era. Hipsters used Pentax. #shotsfired
Then, Sony turned it all on its head by refining the mirrorless camera, and was leading that segment for a long time. Canon caught up last winter, and Nikon is slightly behind. Panasonic leads video and Fuji the accessability.
So as he says in the video: all brands are good now. Canon fucked itself over with their prices and limited lens support.
@@Wistbacka True. I still fucking hate canon for discontinuing the EF-M line. They had potential for some of the best lenses for camera's like the M6 or the m50. An good example was the 32mm f1.4 and the 22mm f2.
meanwhile, sony with the most advanced auto focus system in the industry 😅
Guy literally says ".....all the camera brands are good" and people somehow miss that to support their favorite brand
I bet you wouldnr notice any difference in the autofokus for what you shoot btw a top mpdel from Sony, nikon or Canon
@Herkulez1981 nah, when I say the best in the industry, it includes the overall reliability of the autofocus in both photo and video. sure, all brands are good enough, yet Sony is the only one that you can actually forget about focusing the subject. When you burst shot a moving object under tricky conditions such as low light, sony shows higher success rate and this allows the user to only focus on the subject, not the camera. By no means that sony is the "best camera," they all have pros and cons, which sony has trashy color science and their main defense is that 'it can be edited later.'

Hey peaches, I’ve been a professional photographer for 20 years. Work exclusively with Sony. Works are in multiple worldwide publications, and this type of nonsense can discourage those who are up and coming in the industry. This clip is absolutely absurd, and you should probably be ashamed of this. Honestly, the camera never makes the photographer, and a REAL photographer would know that.
I just bought a Sony a7iii for my first camera (ever) and honestly was kind of annoyed by this video and your comment made me feel better. What a shit way to make someone feel about their expensive purchase/investment.
@@Exile8oh8 when people start touting themselves as experts, strictly because they have a platform, it’s a serious issue. Any real photographer can get great photos, and it wouldn’t matter if they were shooting with a disposable. Photography is all about using the light you have to your advantage; it’s not at all about what brand you choose. Don’t let this clown fool you. Learn lighting (natural or otherwise) and practice what you love.
But that just means you're an UNREAL photographer. Sounds way cooler than being a REAL photographer.
I had no idea that serious photographers were so concerned with video features. You know, those features that are concerned with cinematography, and not photography. But what do I know, I shoot with a Sony

What truly matters is just which eco system you're most used to. Doesn't matter what brand it is, if you know Nikon better go for it, if you know Canon better go for it. Its how you take the photos and where you're more used to is what matters not the brand
I think a lot of professional photographers nowadays use Sony, but that more has to do with the lack of Nikon and Canon quickly adapting to mirrorless, not having IBS in body for a long time, and their newer mounts not allowing third party lenses. All those cause issues, I mean even professional photographers don't want to always spend $12 or $13,000 on a niche lens that they may only use a few times a year when they can buy a third party lens for a third price and for what they're doing it's going to be just as good since they may not need the extremely fast aperture

My a7r2 will be delivered tomorrow. I currently have an a6100 and shoot motocross as a hobby. I started 11 weeks ago (yes, you read that right) and was asked to photograph one of the guys’ weddings because he was on a budget. I just got married two weeks ago and I felt that struggle, so I told them I’d shoot the wedding for free (obviously… I STARTED 11 WEEKS AGO?! 😂) It’s 3 states away, they’re paying for our travel, AND covering our stay for 5 DAYS.. not just the 5 hour wedding/reception. You’re joking right? Real pro’s use quite a range, with SONY accounting for more than 1 in 5 cameras in current use by actual pro’s, and it is now their top pro mirrorless brand. One thing real pro’s DON’T do is tell others what brand of camera to use. I use SONY, DJI and Phase One personally, as that’s what works for me based on what’s available. However, I began with Nikon (F1) in the 70’s and have used Canon, Hasselblad and others along the way.
The best thing to do after watching this video, is that fine option which ignore all of your channel from now on.

#micdrop!!!
No they don't. Hassleblad digitals are for hobbyists, portrait photographers, and landscape photographers. Doesn't compare to GFX medium format or PhaseOne in the studio. And that's if you're working with 100+ MP photos which isn't common except in commercial/product work. Working pros use the big 3, Canon, Nikon, and Sony because they are versatile. Hassleblad are not.

You just throw away the chance to be sponsor by Sony. Not smart at all.
Sony was not terrible back in the day with the minolta mounts. I had one and they started introduce IBIS and it’s now everywhere.
the A99 was actually a crazy beast of a camera... but just as Pentax... Sony joined the race too late and wasn't priced competitively enough while having no brand recognition with photographers with DSLR it was Nikon or Canon even though there were plenty of other brands that made great cameras (even Fuji had some amazing DSLR and Sigma too)
Minolta had IBIS first on the Dynax 7D. When Sony bought out Minolta they used in the Alpha series. People bought Sony because they had M-AF lenses, not playstations....our little friend in the video needs to read more.
my first dslr was nikon, then tried canon, and now shooting both
I transferred from Nikon to Sony and it’s the best decision I have ever made. I wanna try canon in the future too, but I’m extremely happy with my Sony a6600. The quality is way better than the Nikon that I had
Sounds like you weren't there when Sony acquired Minolta. Minolta had some of the best lens and when Sony adopted the same mount and with some of the world's first IBIS, it was a match made in heaven. I quickly sold off my Canon 60D when I first learned about the Sony A77. 12fps, IBIS, AVCHD, magnesium body, beast kit lens 16-50 f2.8. For under $1000 I even got it with a battery grip and extra battery. Never looked back. I really wish they at least developed a really compelling adapter to e mount because I would've stayed with Sony if so.
Nobody forgot about the minolta/sony dslrs , but not many use it
You might have fond mempries of it with good reason , but back then canikon is the mainstream safe option
Theres quite a few a to e mount af adapters
I started 30 years ago with a Minolta... X300s !! Still working perfectly today 🤞🏼
Any photographer who try’s to get you buy into another camera company isn’t a real photographer and clearly cares too much about gear.

Bro is sponsored by canon. Pierre t lambert shoots with sony & he is a professional photographer.
You start with a bold claim and don't justify it. anyway hope you enjoy the free audience retention
When I got my first "professional" camera I went with Nikon because my father already owned a ton of lenses I could use so it was a no brainer. So far I am very happy with it (D7500) and have taken lots of photos with it. My first DSLR however was a Canon 1100D including two kit lenses. Its quality wasn`t great but it really taught me how to properly use a DSLR.
As someone who owns about $5000 worth of Nikon gear, I can confidently say that currently ANY mainstream camera platform will give you killer bang for your bucks, even Sony and Fuji. The only people who still rant about Nikon and Canon being better are older pros from the film era who didn't catch up with technology.
I shoot Nikon and I don’t really get the hate towards Nikon. The lenses are amazing and the z8 and z9 are excellent camera’s.
I get that Nikon didn’t invest enough into their AF but those problems are mainly software related and keep getting better.
I started out with canon 15 years ago and decided to switch to Nikon because i liked the look of the photos a lot more and it suited my style of editing a lot better.
I than switched to mirrorless and decided to stay with Nikon, i do have to say i’ve was thinking about switching to Sony but i’m glad i stayed with Nikon.
It’s always the amateur photographers i’ve noticed that are extremely brand loyal and bash other brands. Every other professional photographer i know doesn’t care about the brand they just want the best tool to get work done.
The only reason amateurs bash other brands is because that’s a way for themselves to justify the 20k lens kit they bought over the years. 😂

I work as a photographer and a videographer and all the "real" photographers I know use either Nikon, Canon or Sony for photos.

Serious photographers use whatever camera will get the best results for the job. Listening to random TH-camrs making bold statements is the worst move anyone starting out can do.

Sony has built in obsoleteness.... autofocus just stops working properly after a year or 2. And it worsens pretty fast.
