Thanks! My instructions left out the important step about changing Source from antenna to HDMI. I had just installed an indoor antenna and would not have thought about reverting back to HDMI without this video. After I did that, my Roku installation proceeded without any problems.
why do I need a credit card to create an account? didn't you already pay for the box? is there a way Rio ommit this? I wouldn't feel comfortable having my card registered in the box
Thanks for your step by step. Years after getting the Roku 3 I needed to set it up again. Couldn't figure out what I was missing. Power cord - found it and was able to finish the set up. All without my husband's help. Woo Hoo!
My TV is mounted to the wall. The only access I have to outlets are these on the side of my TV. The HDMI plug doesn’t fit into the top. Any options for what to do?
Thank you so much for sharing. At first I could not pair the remote controll or start Roku. You explained clearly for "source" and that when I got it to work. Thanks a lot. The other youtube did not tell me about this part. Thanks again for helping.
I have 2 questions will it be okay if I don't connect the Ethernet wire to the router? The router is nowhere near the living room, it's in my parents room. Will it still connect well without the Ethernet wire connecting to the router?
Will it work? yes. How well will it work is the real question because it will depend on things like how far is your hot spot from the cell tower? What speed does it run at? How far away from the hot spot is your Roku? All of this information will factor into whether it will perform well or not
So you need a credit card to set up an account for the roku 3...and probably everything else if you want to use any of the apps on it. Netflix ain't free, hulu ain't free...so please tell me the advantage of having this?
All About Home Electronics.com fair enough, I would like to get this as a Xmas gift for my mother, she's 67...and not a huge tech guru, I want something simple that even she can use.
My Roku 3 remote won't work.I can't seem to get the remote to pair.I understand this is a common problem. But I can't find a video that even shows how to pair a remote.I want to make sure I'm doing it right.
I dont see how "easy" it was. I'm not sure my remote is paired to the box. there is no power light for the Roku3 to even confirm its on. you have to get a generated link passcode and go to your computer to input supposedly. I cant seem to get the box to give me that number. Far from easy peasy so far
i do not know my password or router for wireless. where do i find this? i'm not a child. i'm trying to reset my roku after it's not been hooked up for awhile. i went ahead and set it to network settings and do not know what to do.
I have 2 questions. I have changed my internet connection's Name or user name and my Roku doesnt connect to it, what do i do? And can The Roku connect to another Remote or only the one I bought it with? Thank you.
+Fadiah Yahya THe name of your Internet name is called the SSID or WI-FI name and how did you change it? Was it through your Router IP Address to login and change it. I need to know that first sweetie.
I h ad trouble opening the battery cover too. Got someone to help me as I wasn't sure how much pressure I should put on the cover. You have to press down really hard on the arrows and then push away from them at the same time. A friend put a bit of gel on the catch and I opened & closed the battery cover several times to loosen it up just a tad. It works fine now.
I found this, " A Roku account is free. However, we ask for your payment information to provide you the convenience of making purchases from the Roku Channel Store on your TV. You will only be charged if you choose to make a purchase." Let say you want to add a pay channel like the Western channel. And it costs a few dollars a month. Roku's Channel Store charges your account. When I get the statement from the bank it always show a charge from Netflix and one for Hulu Plus. IF I had the Western channel it would show up as well. Hope that helps.
I "disliked" the comment because I agreed with it. I don't like having to provide credit card info until I decide to purchase something. I decided to use my PayPal account, hoping that would provide a layer of security.
I know I have hackers/theives on my system. ( they have tried to use my accounts to buy things) Why would you jeopardize my financial well being telling me it is a convenience? First I think bugs and glitches such as wifi that is not secure have to be worked out. really not pleased.
Trying to hook up a Roku 3. Disconnected ISP HDMI cable fr TV, then connected Roku HDMI to port 4. Roku 3 hooked up to power supply, white light flashes on unit. I have Wi-Fi in house. However, the only thing I see on TV screen is a traveling "No Signal" rectangle and I am NOT taken to a menu where I can input my Wi-Fi info, etc. What am I doing wrong?? If possible, pls reply to: mishabr@knology.net
DVDdups It is if you weren't paying ANYTHING and everyone kept telling you to buy Roku or Chromecast or Apple TV because it doesn't cost anything. Seems as though that was a slight exaggeration.
I thought the same thing myself. But you are not seeing the whole thing. I had Dish Network it costed me $75 a month. Also had the encore package. They show the same things over and over and over. So I tried the Roku. I spend about $30 a month I have Netflix Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime. And I can watch it when I want to watch. Its not the same thing over and over. And you can always find something. Hulu Plus plays some shows that have aired with in a day or two. They have the try it for a month free deal for new customers. I know its for Netflix not sure about Hulu. Amazon is a little different. You give it a try and you will not want to go back to Direct TV. I looked at it this way say you buy 3 or 4 dvd's a month. Yea some places you can get used ones for $5. New can run $25 or more ea. That $20 a month or more. But with the Roku you get a lot more.

Is there offline functionality? I’m looking to get one for my father who just wants to watch shows off an external hard drive
Why do you need a credit card to create the account? Is there a fee in order to use the Roku?
No fee need ....NEED CC FOR PAYMENT OF FUTURE RENTAL SHOWS MOVIES YOU RENTALS
I only have wifi internet service through Sprint (Clear)on a hotspot device. Will I be able to still use this? I don't have cable in my home right now

Some consumers use it as a replacement to (or even a suppliment) Cable TV Service or Satellite Service etc
All About Home Electronics.com fair enough, I would like to get this as a Xmas gift for my mother, she's 67...and not a huge tech guru, I want something simple that even she can use.
Any tutorials on how to put the stand on it? Just unboxed it and not very good directions.
I don't have wireless, router. Can I connect to the computer modem or pc directly?
Are you serious??? You really need a wireless router and Wi-Fi or ethernet to connect straight to your router or switch.
No you tube tv app?
Hi can you help me about link cod about my tv. I can't activate pleas. How I will find it?
I have tv set to HDMI; but all I have is a blue screen; tried another tv and have the same issue, what do I do?
How long is the power cable?
Man, you bypass the need to pair the blue-tooth controller! Any reason for this?

sometimes the password is on a label affixed to the bottom of the router (unless of course someone changed it)
You have to pay to use it?
+BezzeySantana yes and no...some content is free and other content you have to buy
So if you only want to watch free stuff, you don't need a credit card, correct?
I have 2 questions. I have changed my internet connection's Name or user name and my Roku doesnt connect to it, what do i do? And can The Roku connect to another Remote or only the one I bought it with? Thank you.
You have to re-pair the remote to the Roku and input your new WiFi name and password into the Roku
My remote doesn't work anymore, can u buy a new one and would the new one work for the Roku or it needs it's own?
+Fadiah Yahya press and hold the small purple button for 5 seconds(located on the back of remote near the batteries).
I did. I told you the remote won't work. I will take it to the nearest Best buy store to see what I can do to fix it. I really appreciate your help

Make sure your TV is set to to port 4, use the Source / Input button located on the remote control that came with your TV to set the TV to port 4

20 bucks
Luis, hilarious. Yes, saving $50-70.00 per month is a big waste

better redo your video bud. Lost sound, scene skips, ,,,,,,,,
You have to pay for netflix, hulu and the other apps is the same thing. Ill stay with direct tv and netflix. This is just a wasted of money.
