    🔎 EXCERPT 🔎
    Looking for a sunny, affordable retirement destination in Spain
    that isn’t overpriced like Barcelona or Valencia?
    What if I told you there are Spanish cities with amazing weather,
    high quality of life,
    and low, low prices-without the tourist crowds?
    You don’t have to spend a fortune to retire in Spain.
    All you need is to take a closer look at certain Comunidades Autónomas
    that I will tell you today
    There you find spectacular cities with standards of living comparable to the best places in Europe
    and it gets even better,
    because some of these autonomous communities will offer you very special tax incentives.
    Retiring in Spain doesn’t mean choosing between expensive cities or isolated villages
    -you just need to know where to look and who to talk to -
    So Today we will show you the best places to retire in Spain
    in all autonomous communities except 3:
    Andalusia, which we already covered in this video.
    Valencia, which we already covered in this video.
    and Catalonia, which is a quite complex region, so we might cover it in a future video - if you want us to make a video about Barcelona and Catalunya, tell us in the comment section.
    So the first autonomous community we will talk about is Aragon
    Aragon is a region in northeastern Spain, bordered by France to the north and Catalonia to the east.
    Known for its diverse climate, this is NOT the region for those looking for mild winters.
    For example, the capital, Zaragoza. is cold in the winter - temperatures below zero are not uncommon.
    some people say that it is even colder than Madrid!
    One curious fact is that part of the Pyrenees mountain range is inside this region and they have some interesting ski resorts
    The most famous of them is the Formigal, which is also the largest in Spain.
    Contrary to some of the regions that I will talk about in a few minutes, Aragon does not offer any specific tax benefit for expats,
    However…
    Several factors make Aragon an appealing destination for foreign retirees.

    • @shyamdevadas6099
      @shyamdevadas6099 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@-jamthesun1103 Very true. However, heavy rain wasn't the only factor for the massive flooding in that part of Spain. The country has had prolonged drought cycles. The result is that the soil can't absorb water as well. The region has multiple rivers that feed into each other. Many parts of the region are low-lying and vulnerable. There are also indications that the infrastructure needed to contain storm water either didn't exist, were insufficient, or they were in disrepair. Add all of this to the growing problem of climate change and the dire economic problems in Spain. In the end, any rational person would need to see that the area is at much higher risk in the long term. Therefore, it makes sense for me to retire elsewhere.
      By the way, I have eliminated both Chile and Japan due to earthquakes. Thailand, the Middle East, and parts of Latin America due to increasing heat. Also, some areas due water shortages. There is an old sailor's saying: "We cannot change the wind, but we can adjust our sails."

    Won’t be cheap for long, the moment foreigners start emigrating everything goes up that’s the norm and it affects more the locals, who struggles to compete and gets out price on everything.

    • @le_th_
      @le_th_ 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No matter the country, housing is almost always the greatest expense. If you can purchase affordable housing, that is more than HALF the problem. You have to also consider how long you can stay in the country each year (or rolling year). It does not good to have a home in a country where you can't live *at least* 180 days out of the year.
      One you secure housing, it won't matter how manhy foreigners start emigrating. You are incorrect that "everything goes up" because groceries, utilities, and medical care will not increase in price. Housing and restaurants will increase in price.
      I would caution you NOT to blame emigrants for the rise in cost. It is the GREEDY locals who raise their prices, especially for rent.

    • @enrique55455
      @enrique55455 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ Caution ? Who are you ? Caution yourself. Any country which opens its borders so EXPATS who can just enter and buy whatever they want the locals always pays the price. Take the Dominican Republic my country with the great influx of emigrants from USA, Canada and Europe house prices went through the roof, the division between emigrants and locals is so wide, tensions are rising, so it’s not just in Spain. Just look at who the realtors are ? 90% are gringos there are no benefits to the locals, Let’s take Hawaii same thing happened there, locals were living in tents on the beaches and at the roadside. Expats doesn’t engage with local they build gated communities and separate themselves. They do nothing for the economy nor the locals.

      @@enrique55455 Yes, I've been to Santo Domingo several times. The same applies. It is the LOCALS who get greedy and raise their prices.

    - if you have that much money that tax savings matter to you - none of these places are where you want to live, unless you converted to a simple live with one goat and a pig
    - These tax savings are in fact a trap for US tax payers. You first pay taxes abroad, you can reclaim that portion when you file your US taxes but their is usually a one year delay. What you ultimately pay is your original US taxes since they are taxable on world wide income
    On top of all these problems you open another pandora box - in case of inheritance taxes at the time you live abroad

    People should be more concerned about squatters OCUPAS OKUPAS than how beautiful a place is 😨Imagine going on vacation and coming back to find someone else living in your home. It's frustrating because the government often fails to protect homeowners in these situations. Why? It's simple: squatters tend to vote in higher numbers, benefiting politicians during elections since they live rent-free on others' properties. This is one of the country's biggest issues-once squatters move in, it can feel impossible to get them off your property! There are many videos about squatters on TH-cam about this problem in Spain. I prefer to rent than buy.
    In the United States, laws protect property owners, unlike in Spain, where if you leave your home and 48 hours pass, someone can take possession, and the police won't protect you as the rightful owner.
    In Spain, after 48 hours, you must go to court, which can take years.
    In contrast, in the U.S., your property is protected, as long as you're not in a state that supports squatters' rights.
    In the United States, squatters can potentially take possession of a property through adverse possession laws. These laws vary by state, but generally, squatters must occupy a property openly, continuously, and without the owner's permission for a specific number of years. Some states where adverse possession is possible include:
    • California
    • Texas
    • New York
    • Ilinois
    If you forcibly remove a squatter ("okupa") in Spain, you could face serious legal consequences. The law protects the inviolability of a home, meaning even if someone is illegally occupying your property, you cannot evict them by force. Doing so could result in charges such as **coercion**, as outlined in Article 172.1 of the Penal Code, which carries penalties of **6 months to 3 years in prison**. Legal eviction must follow judicial procedures to avoid criminal liability.
