    They're restored so perfect that they look like they've never been touched just aged naturally. Beautiful Beautiful work👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

    Excellent video and excellent work. My only suggestion for you is maybe get a leather sewing machine with compound feet. That vintage Singer you are using just doesn’t have the piercing power, and you might just wear it out trying to sew leather. You can get a vintage Singer leather machine for less than $500, and they have lots of extras for it on the open market. If you have the $, you can get a Brother leather machine (that’s what I have) that will sew anything.
    Once again, great work and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

    Question: I am new to watching these restorations, so I am curious because they are refurbished and slightly customized does it remove value from the shoe itself, or does it help raise potential value because you have a video showing a complete restoration of an original pair into a slightly used looking condition.
    I still have my AJ 6 OG Black Infareds... only wore them a few times when I got them in 1991 and Stopped wearing them as they were not very comfortable, at least to me. and while they are not tore up like the ones in your video they could use some light reconditioning, but right now they just sit in their original box untouched on a shelf for the past 33 years.

    • @Maxio6
      @Maxio6  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! the metallic is a vinyl sheet from Etsy (very hard to find the right shade) and the reason why I pieced the collar into 3 parts is because I simply didn't have enough metallic material to make a single cut.

    I professionally restore antique books, mostly leather bound, and am seeing so many cross-overs, frankly this is looking easy, except I have only done sewing without a machine. I really want to try this now.
    One thing had me going crazy is when he removed the air Jordan from the high heal area. I'm only half way through video rn, but hopefully there is a good solution to adding the ink back--because in my world of restoration that is a huge no no. 🤞

    • @jhard94

    • @rubberchicken1717
      @rubberchicken1717 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the same reaction to the removal of the logo! To me this project crossed the line from a restoration into becoming an entirely new creation and more of an artistic representation of the original. Deleting an original logo only to completely repaint it is usually sacrilege in restoration and it looks like the original colorway was the metallic green and then it was turned into the metallic purple. However, after a little searching around it seems the standards and conventions of sneaker restoration are different than fine art or antique book restoration. Which I guess makes sense. The craftsmanship is impressive and the end result looks nice. And I think that's really all that matters with sneakers.
