  • This is a short documentation of the process on how to build a 1985 AJ1. There are a few steps I skipped but will definitely answer any questions you have in the comments. If you would like to see more in depth videos don't forget to subscribe and like the video as it helps grow the channel. I hope to offer more detailed videos in the near future. Can you guess what you tubers or anime I’m watching in the back? Follow on insta @mercurymfg for more builds.

    Man those are my grails. The 1985 silhouette with the UNC/University Blue colorway is my favorite Jordan of all time. I am blown away with your ability to create such a beautiful pair of shoes. I absolutely love the inside lining how it's sort of faded as if it's 37 years old. I have to know how you acquired that inside lining?

    What a great video man, very well done and meticulous! Do you only build for Ftrot or is there another place where one could grab one of these masterpieces? 9.5 for me as well like the shadows, so it wouldn’t call for new template.

    for the past 3 days I was wondering if it was possible do make 85s on a heavy singer and you literally blew my mind. I'm getting one soon and have been watching 85 builds for roughly 2 years and want to make a pair for myself. do you sell templates/patterns at all?

    • @MercuryDIY

    watched this video about 10 times to study before i start my pair of lows. Where can we get the liner material in different colors? any specific source ?

    • @kep3438
      @kep3438 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      also crazy how you did most of this on the singer as opposed to doing most of it on the postbed.

    • @MercuryDIY
      @MercuryDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I found that material at my local fabric store. if you have one locally check it out and see what they have

    What type of veg tan are you using, I’m struggling to find a type that I like either to firm to last to soft

    • @MercuryDIY
      @MercuryDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use 4-5 ounce premium Italian veg tan. It is difficult to last but after a few builds you will get the hang of it

    You’d think you’d wanna sew the across lines on the tongue before sewing the closure piece

    • @MercuryDIY
      @MercuryDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure I follow? If you mean what I think, I would have to sew the tag on before the “closure piece”(bias tape) and that would leave the tag under the the bias tape when finished. But not sure I know what you mean by “closure piece”

    Whats the name and model of the sewing machine used in this video? Also, what does a person look for in sewing machine for sneaker building? Hope to get response and videos are great 👍.

    • @MercuryDIY
      @MercuryDIY  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      this is a techsew 810. you can make sneakers on any heavy duty sewing machine but anything made for leather is always best. good luck!
