Supreme Court on Tuesday heard a suo motu case related to the rape and murder of a postgraduate medic at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata that has led to a massive uproar across the nation over women safety at the workplace. The top court pulled up the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government over its lackadaisical approach while dealing with the case and asked the CBI, which is currently investigating the matter, to submit a report by Thursday.
Meanwhile, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks regarding the Kolkata doctor's rape and murder case. Gandhi, who visited his parliamentary constituency Raebareli, was asked by reporters about the Kolkata case and he responded by accusing the press of trying to distract him from the Dalit issues he was there to address. "In connection with the Bengal RG Kar Murder case, a crime occurred at 7:30 AM in a hospital, but no police case was registered throughout the entire day. However, the postmortem and cremation were completed before 8:30 PM under police security. In the rush, the government officials failed to file an FIR for the incident. The first FIR was registered by the victim's father at 11:30 PM on the same day. This case highlights how a crime scene can be concealed with the involvement of the entire administrative system."

Did Prinicpal of the school file an FIR in case of Badlapur incident? No, the family did - and they were made to wait for 13 hours to file the FIR!
