My father gave my mother a pearl strand as her wedding gift and she worn them on her wedding day in 1954. I borrowed them on my wedding day in 1982 and my daughter borrowed them in 2023!
wow, our elders have a saying to never wear a pearl on your wedding day coz it was believed to be a tear so you won't end up crying all the time during your married life.
@@duedate2811 I have heard the same thing. Reading other comment sections from similar videos, this does not seem to be a universal belief/superstition; just like wearing black to a funeral; or white for a bride, isn't. 🤷 I wore pearls at my wedding nevertheless, because I love pearls and they won't irritate my skin (can't wear a lot of metal jewelry because of chromium and nickel sensitivities). 😊
@@thekingsdaughter4233 my sister never took that advice and wore one during her wedding day. I don't know what went wrong but she did end up crying all the time. They had been in a 6 years of happy relationship but the marriage didn't last a year. Her ex sis in law never got married but in a happy relationship now, she told us she was traumatized how quickly relationship turn sour after marriage. Told her it was the pearls hahaha
I was going on a long vacation so I went to our basement looking for a larger suitcase and found my late MIL’s suitcase. Opened it up, slid my hand in a pocket and found a velvet box…..a strand of Mikimoto pearls! They are stunning. ❤
I have been wearing pearls for many years and have them in many colors and sizes in my collection. Love the sophistication of the jewelry that makes me feel regal.
Audrey, I've been wearing pearls for years - some pieces that my husband has bought for me, and others gifted to me by my late mother-in-law, making them very special. I LOVE wearing a classic pearl necklace, for instance, with jeans and a white t-shirt. Makes it contemporary and gives that edge of juxtaposing 2 "opposing" things!
ABSOLUTELY!!! I inherited a classic graduated pearl necklace many years ago. Beautiful pearls that sat in their velvet case for years because my typical wardrobe is casual. A couple of years ago, I decided to wear them with a casual button down shirt and a pair of jeans. Like you, I love the juxtaposition of the dressy pearls with a casual outfit. Pearls want to be worn! Hope you have a happy day/evening. Take care.
The rules of pearls that I learned from my mother is that pearls are the last accessory you put on and the very first you take off once you arrive home! Please do not spray perfume when you are ever wearing them as well!! I happen to have my grandmothers pearls that she brought from Spain so they are extremely delicate and I have followed these rules to a T!! They are over 100 years old and I have had the clasp rebuilt as it broke but it is always lovely to have a few pieces of pearls as they are perfect with everything that you will wear!!!
The nice thing about pearls is you can buy a huge price range and there are beautiful jewels with baroque or nugget pearls that are very cheap. Fantastic with denim and a white shirt.
I have been waiting for this video for a while. My mum gave me a pearl jewellery set (reckless, bangles, earrings) when I was about 11 years old. I have been enjoying them for over 30 years now, also wore them with my wedding dress.. every wardrobe look feels complete with pearls. 😊. I am looking for rice pearls now.
I have an Akoya set from about 20 years ago. The 16 inch necklace, a bracelet and a pair of stud earrings. I've worn them with jeans and a tshirt, at religion services, weddings, a funeral, to work anywhere really. I find that they are very versatile and lovely.
I first bought pearls in high school, but like with all my jewelry, they started becoming an occasional thing through college and beyond. Now that I think about it, the only times I clearly remember reaching my pearls are funerals and religious services. I want to change this -- they are too beautiful and versatile to just stay in my jewelry box!
In the south, pearls are given to young women as a coming of age gift. My grandpa gave me a set of pearl necklace and earrings each when I graduation both high school and college. I love those and wear them on occasion. I do however, have pearl earrings on chains from Madewell that I wear everyday and I love. They’re classy and go with everything
Thank you! As someone who is very pale I've tended towards styling with high contrast but I love the look of pale pearls with pale colours. I don't wear a lot of jewellery and usually only wear one piece to highlight that piece. I hope to be able to stretch enough outside my comfort zone to add more pieces. I appreciate your exploration into the wonderful world of pearls!
I wear my pearls layered with gold necklaces. I wear this look with a super casual sweater, jeans and clogs. Now that I’m in my 50s, I don’t want my pearls to look fussy. I wear them with super casual outfits to keep it more current. When I got my pearls at 28, I wore them for more formal engagements.
I would like a segment on how to wear a string of pearls, sometimes they can look old fashion. For example; different size of pearls and necklace lengths.
Your pearl jewelry looks impeccable! Just wanted to say how much I like your hair longer, very pretty! I don't know if this topic is something you're interested in but I would like to know how to match my makeup with my wardrobe choices. Thanks for your great video on pearls!
I have only a few pearl things in my jewelry collection, but I often find that when I reach for them, I decide they look more dressy than I am intending to look, so they don't get worn much! I definitely feel that they aren't summery, but more of a wintery look. Maybe I should try again. :)
I love pearls, I have a collection of them but I don't really wear them because I am scared to not ruin them 🙈 would be great a video on how to take care of them too.
When I was a child my mother always bought me pearls and coral studs. She never bought any gem stone earrings she felt they were a bit more for teens or adults. So I used to have beige or soft pink pearls set in gold prongs. Now I wish I can find a set as I had as a child. Because I purchased a set from pearlsource and the pearl was glued and fell off. So that was a waste of money. So I am hoping one day I find a set I can love and will last.
The price of pearl jewelry is typically impacted by three aspects: their size, circularity/lack of inclusions, and their luster. As a woman whose been making jewelry since my teenage years, the most desirable aspect of pearls is easily their luster. The cloudiest pearl strands are always left on the shelves, nobody wants to make or wear dull pearl jewelry. Seed, rice, baroque, button... There is no "correct" shape or size, it's down to your lifestyle/preference. We buy pearls for that bright, captivating, mirror-like glow. If you focus on getting pearls with as beautiful a luster as you can, you'll never want to take them off!
I love pearls and own several different types. I would recommend being careful layering your pearls with other chains as they can get scratched. I know this looks modern but it may not be good for your nicer pearls.

Pearls seem to brighten my face. Love them.
Agree ! Even wear simple pearl earrings w/ jeans & a casual top !
Never go out of style!
I feel the same way! I wear them just about everyday!

I love pearls - they have the super power of elevating any look
Audrey, It would be so nice to see a video outlining care of pearls ( maybe jewelry in general).
This would be good information! I would also like to know if it is possible to differentiate fake versus real pearls easily
I would like that you included cleaning pearl jewelry in this guide also.

Pearls have been my favorite! I have a strand of rice pearls I wear so often 🤍
Pearl is my gem stone month and I love it 😊❤

Audrey, great presentation and your modeling of the jewelry brings it to life! Hoping we get to see more of your travels. Thank you! Pete
What I have and love are the black Tahitian pearls
Audrey,I love pearls.Your presentation was wonderful, and I look forward to seeing your videos.Have a great day today.
Thank you so much for this video. It's been helpful, as I have a pair of antique pearls and I had no idea how to incorporate them into my wardrobe. ❤

Really love pearls!!! On every declination ❤
I have always loved pearls. My wedding dress had Pearl details. And I love anything mother of Pearl when it comes to decor.
Audrey, thank you for this episode, I love your pearl guides.

Thank you ma’am
Mighty helpful 🎉

Don’t fret; pearls need to be worn! The lubrication of your skin helps protect them.
Lovely ❤ hope you’re doing well Audrey
My favorite piece of jewelry next to my canary diamond ❤
My pearl game could use a refresh…lol ❤
My favourit jewelry: pearls😍😍😍😍
Can you please tell us the difference between the natural pearls and the farm raised one and if they do have the same energy thank you
Can I wear a gold chain with my pearls? I am worried it might scratch them.
Yes, I wear my pearls with everything but workout cloths or when I am cleaning or doing yard work, etc…

Is it Gingiberri sponsorship again?😂 this brand literally paid all of the fashion TH-camrs I follow😂
It is a strand of pearls that makes it dressy. Or strands. That is when they can be more difficult to style for a casual every day look.

I wear my pearls with t-shirts or anything. Doesn't matter how expensive they are. They are meant to be worn!
❤
Her advice is good but the vocal fry is irritating.
I felt like you were rushing and were out of breathe. Is that so? The major draw of your channel was the soothing voice and pace.
You can always change the playback speed in the settings too! If you change it to .75x it’s slower but not sluggish ♥️
@@joettaxoxo Thanks, i will try that! I was just wondering if it was in my head or not!

I think it didn't work with the brown leather Jacket. Might work if it was black pearls instead.
