No 'learning disability' in being dyslexic, just a different way of thinking with some challenges and many advantages. I'm a senior lecturer at a University in the U.K. and dyslexic myself. Dyslexic people we all might know - Einstein, Tom Cruise, Richard Branson, Cher, Picasso, Agatha Christie..the list goes on. Brilliant to see yet another person to (potentially?) add to the 'Dyslexic Hall of Fame' list, Sean.

You were clearly born to do this Sean, you're just a natural at it. Its a way of life, not a job. Your dyslexia has probably made you ask more questions to fill your knowledge gaps. Absolutely excellent, keep up the good work.

And also to learn best by watching and listening. I bet that's perfect improving and growing in the work he does. Reminds me of something Oliver Sacks (famous neurologist & author) said about increased visual understanding & creativity he noticed in people deaf from birth. Or the well-known blind U.S. federal judge whose memory for speeches and ideas is phenomenal since he doesn't use written notes.

    • @pg4662
      @pg4662 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

@TamarLitvot Indeed! I think the difference is that people who encounter a difficulty and see it as a challenge to get round, rather than a blockade to stop them, do much better, they have to be more creative in reaching their goals. A lesson to us all really.

Clearly it’s your calling. You have a wonderful life; many are envious of. I’m because I had a border collie mix. I had wanted a borderline collie and a newfie since I was a kid. In my fifies I got a mix of the two breeds by rescue at the insistence of my daughter. He was a beloved dog by all who knew him. My love of animals gave me hopes of working with them. My grandparents owned a dairy farm. I’d have loved to own a farm. My dad had other plans for me though. So, now I dream about it by watching your videos. Enjoyed the story of your beginnings as a shepherd.

Hi Sean! I’m glad to hear your background story! Thanks for sharing! I, also came from a suburban upbringing and bought a farm when I was 22.
I used to have a small flock of sheep in Vermont and I later moved to dairy cattle. We had 400 milking cows and 400 heifers coming up.
I am no longer able to live or work on a farm so I love to watch your working videos. The dogs are amazing, and I enjoy hearing about the family, and rural life in Scotland.

It sounds as if James was a major benefactor to you because he taught you the dog skills you needed to be where you are today. Working outside with animals is better than working outside with construction equipment that could very well kill you. Working in a windowless office for years is a way to kill yourself slowly. You chose the best path. We thank you, Stacy, the dogs, and James for your current career path.

Mine was 8 months when I rescued her off the street (5 months ago). Since your dog is under 18 months, I recommend searching "age appropriateness dog training" and watching the vid on Beckman's dog training channel.
Don't get discouraged if next month is rough. I laughed out loud when he said 9 months was the worst age of dog ownership because we were in month 9 and she was being a pain. The fact that we weren't over the 3 month "new dog" hump didn't help.

Kate the Great!!! She is a winner! And yes-dogs are co-dependent and respond to their People. Poor Haig-yes, something toxic would cause those symptoms, poison or bacterial. . .
My son is probably dyslexic and certainly didn’t learn well by sitting in a classroom, being talked-at, and reading. He, too, is practical and hands-on and taught himself to become a master electrician (after he did a similar stretch in construction. . . And he loves dogs, too❤. )This is no small accomplishment. You are top notch!

Great to hear the story of how you went from suburban teen to being a shepherd. I'd sort of pieced your background together from snippets learned through watching all of your TH-cam videos, but it was nice hearing it told in a linear fashion. I feel like I'm watching a real life movie as your story continues to unfold as you share your life with your fans. Your emotions are so open and honest, I could feel the pain you shared when you lost Haig. Just as I delighted in you and Stacey's joy when Kole arrived. Keep on inviting us to share your lives. That'll do!

Keep asking questions Sean! I'm a retired specialist educator...a student that doesn't ask questions isn't learning 😊I'm sorry about Haig. I also lost my ddr shepherd in similar circumstances at 3yrs old. She had a brain tumor we didn't know about until she lost balance suddenly. It's heartbreaking when we lose them young. God obviously led you to the place you are in now a slice of heaven on earth with the animals you love. ❤see if you can show us how to train for recall which is so important. Maybe you can get into training dogs which is very lucrative...I know one young Americans your age doing very well from it Tom Davis no bad dogs

Great life story! (And wishes for it to continue!) It can be hard to find your place when you start out with a disadvantage, but you've worked your way through experience to the place you belong. Kudos to your mother for insisting you work part time if you were going to school part time. Her guidance gave you a good start.

She’s (and maybe his Dad) given him a good work ethic: highly valued by employers.

Personally Sean I think this is your life's calling your very good at this. You do an excellent job of it. You truly care about the Animals and you strive to do an excellent job educating yourself and looking forward with new education that's always good and frankly it shows in your work.
Working at something you love to do and your good at is not a job it's a good life.
Sean sorry about the loss of Haig. It's been my experience when we loose a dog suddenly with no real answers why it's extremely hard to reconcile that loss in our heart and mind. In my 77 years on earth living with dogs my whole life this has happened to me and it still saddens me I didn't have an answer why or how. I do know in life we never know all the answers but for me you and Stacy that answer was necessary to help our hearts.

You've clearly worked hard to attain your success and by being you and having supportive people around you. My BC also collapsed suddenly in 2022. Worst time of my life. It took me two years to be able to talk about her passing without crying. Haig sounds like a special dog indeed and thank you for sharing your story of him and your inspirational and down to earth journey of your success.

Great story, thanks for sharing your journey. I certainly enjoy you doing your tasks around the farm, and not just with the dogs. You are a fine example of following your heart.
