2 years later I am watching these while home in isolation with my whole family of four as we all have COVID, after managing to stay healthy for so long! Thankfully we have been keeping everything well stocked generally as a rule for the past 2 years in case we couldn’t go out for a few weeks. I don’t miss the locked down days of having everyone at home all the time though, the amount of snacks and food we were going through was ridiculous!
I’m also not disinfecting groceries. After all the planning, inventory, list making, orders, in store shopping, cooking, clean up blah blah I just couldn’t add one more thing to my list. I think I’m going to implement the snack bucket idea. My kids are 5 and 3 but they eat like teens!

Flexibility is key :) Thank you for encouraging me about the amount, too, because we have been spending alot more than normal but I'm also stocking our freezer and pantry with things to keep us going for awhile. Great idea video. Thanks for the clamshell idea. I sometimes put the salad greens in a ziploc bag with paper towel. Never thought to do it in the clamshell. Duh! I bought the egg roll wrappers from Walmart too because I was craving egg rolls. So great and quick in the air fryer. Great little kitchen task for your kids to help make. Also, you can put other foods in them like chocolate, apples, etc. I started buying coffee in the can for my Keurig just before the pandemic. But, I miss the special flavored K cups sometimes. You did good planning for 3 weeks worth of groceries.
For your keurig just get the basket insert and you can use the regular grounds this saves you from buying a new coffee maker. If you still want a new one the ninja coffee maker is great too!
Amazon sells reusable inserts for the Keurig. Make sure you read reviews and get the one for your machine! Instead of putting the plastic non-reusable cups you can refill (with your coffee of choice)! So much cheaper! Honestly if I didn’t have the reusable cup I would get rid of my keurig. It takes up too much counter space. I would find something smaller, but mine works so I keep it.

My husband drinks full caffeinated coffee and uses a reg coffee pot. I drink half caffeinated and use a "hotel size " coffeemaker 4 cup max. I found it at a thrift store. Love it. Very useful having 2 different coffeemakers when u drink different things.

Fellow Oklahoman and new subscriber here. My husband has been working from home for the past several weeks; SO, lots of coffee being consumed at our house. I work in healthcare, specifically in infection control; SO, I am working overtime these days. I usually shop at Aldi, Sprouts and my husband does the Whole Foods trip for the fresh fruit and veggies. Once a week shopping for us. No change from pre-quarantine from that perspective and pantry is stocked. I think we will be OK here opening in stages; but you are absolutely correct. Keep social distancing and masking up and continue limiting trips and such.
When I was a teenager back in the ice age (ok, the 70's), we took B12 supplements from spring through summer and for some reason it made us less attractive to mosquitoes. I don't know why, but I was reminded of it when my neurologist wanted me to start taking B vitamins for another reason and found the mosquitoes weren't bothering me. It might be worth trying, no mega doses or anything, just a typical dose of B12 supplement.
Wow-your store is stocked! Our Walmart is not! I did finally venture into a store this week, it’s been 6 weeks since we went in (NJ is being very hard hit) but I did go to Aldi and they were well stocked! I ordered our meat from a butcher and our produce from the local farm. So far so good, but wow, it’s exhausting putting so much thought into shopping these days! And no judgement from me on the kids treats-my kids wanted canned spray cheese and yup-they got it. They are much older than yours, but their lives are in an upheaval too-my college sophomore finds himself back home missing his campus and college friends and he is a D1 athlete who lost his spring season. My youngest is a high school senior-I don’t have to tell you what he has “lost”-and he is also going to college as a D1 athlete and is worried that will be affected-so yeah-they got the spray cheese 🤣. You are doing great-just remember that
I have been wanting to get back to Aldi! My problem the last few times is I have needed other things that I can't get at aldi, so I just did Walmart in an effort to "one stop shop". LOL! I definitely feel for all the seniors through this. I taught HS for years, and my last group of sophomores are seniors this year and I've thought of them many times! Breaks my heart.

I have problems with mosquito bites also. Here's some tips that have helped me. If possible wash the bite area asap. Research how mosquitoes bites and you'll understand why. Next I've increased my intake of vitamin D per my holistic doctor. Hope this will help.
When I purchase grapes I like to soak them in some water with a good splash of distilled white vinegar. I rinse them really good and then store them in a Ziploc back with paper towels. They last way longer this way to me and they still have that crisp taste.
I love the idea for your kids. I wish I'd thought of something like that when my kids were little! Also, it gives the kids a sense of independence. They get to pick their choices and then make 'em last throughout the day.

Well I mean I demolished the entire box in one sitting and then just not have sweets the rest of the week...I never learned my lesson but it workswith mybrother
Great haul, though you don’t need to explain your food choices for your family every couple items. I love how your heart is to recognize that your family is so blessed and recognizing that others might be in a different situations but picking a part each choice creates the opposite feel for those who are not able to make certain choices financially.
My coffee maker is a Hamilton Beach that is combined...both a 12 cup pot and a single serve (kcup) side...I love it. Hubby bought it for Hanukkah a couple yrs ago at Walmart, they gave newer styles currently.
We just got that one! Our old one died so my brother got the exact one you described. My boyfriend likes the flavored coffee and my brother and sister in law just like regular so they do the pot Honey does the single cup. I stick to tea, but they seem to be happy with this.
We use the Ninja coffee maker with the glass carafe...we drink a TON of coffee, so the carafe option really works for us, but there are options for a mug, travel cup, XXL cup, half carafe and full carafe. It’s really been great for us! We had a Keurig before we got this for Christmas back in 2015 and I’ll never go back. My coffee tastes so much better now.

She swears that the heart of Tulsa was built on sacred Native American ground and would never be hit by a tornado. She went to Will Rogers High School, class of 1950. There were cows grazing on the high school lawn in those days - I think it might be a little more built-up around there now! :)

I bought the plastic containers for cereal a few years ago. The cereal always seems to pick up a plastic taste and smell to me so I quit using them. I love the idea though. I've went to using glass containers.
If you get delayed for any reason, always give the Walmart Pickup local line a call and they will always hold your stuff for up to 24 hours. No problem.

I do not sanitize by groceries either. I just use precautions before going inito the store- i wish i could go early in the morning with Senior hour BUT my mom is 96 and i don't have anyone to sit with her early- so i go whenever i can get someone- love hauls= your vids are great

We are budgeting a little more for groceries right now, too. We are eating so much more at home (and I thought we were good about that before!). We usually spend around $650/month. We've had to increase it just slightly. That includes all our paper goods, cleaning products, toiletries, etc., too.
Wal-Mart is LITERALLY in my backyard. I can get from my door to theirs in less than 2 minutes walking. That intercom goes all day - we hear it all through our house. The traffic this Wal-Mart brought when it opened 6 months ago was bad enough. The intercom is maddening! TFS Stay safe and well 😷
Cannot recommend the Ninja Coffee Bar enough! We replaced our Keurig a little over 2 years ago and have loved it. Ours makes 6 different sizes, from single cup to full carafe, in either hot or cold coffee.
I still use them occasionally. I drink a lot of water but sometimes i just need something extra! I’ll admit, I let my kids have them occasionally, too, because they will drink their water with them. I usually strike a bargain and tell them they can have some drink flavoring for their water if they drink two glasses just plain first
Can you do a pour over. Albertsons used to sell a melitta for 2.99 which is what I use but they haves variety of price points out there. Just makes 1 cup at a time. I got the idea from Starbucks and they sell a pricier pour over cup

Just another chicken recipe that you could try out. I like to do a Greek style chicken. I cube chicken breast and marinate them in Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and dill. Then I place the cubes on a sheet pan and bake them in the oven or you can shish kebab it and put them on the grill. We like to do a zucchini and squash combo with the Cavenders Greek seasoning as a side dish.
It's just too overwhelming for me to think about. I'm not even sure what "thorough" would look like in that case. I tend to take everything out of packages anyway, and the stuff going in the freezer...surely the virus can't live there long!
I saw the video of the guy washing his veggies with soap in the sink and I just said I can’t do this lol. I do a lot but I just can’t get with washing my groceries lol.
What happens to refrigerated items. I know when I have been in sams I just see a line of carts. I guess I don’t Think they would put refrigerated/freezer items back or do they?
I believe they keep the orders in refrigerators and freezers in a special part of the store where they load them. My items are always cold/frozen, even when I know they've been selected a few hours before.
24:08 - it's also worth it because kids never remember to eat healthy, EVER. Pulling a cheese stick is way better than climbing in the pantry for chips anyway,
My husband and I have been home from work since March 20th. He's been working from home and I work for Starbucks and they have been paying us to stay safe since then. I do go back Monday, a little nervous but we shall see! Anyway, since March 20th i have gone to the grocery store 3 time. Not once have i been able to get any frozen veggies!! I saw your haul and even hubby was like, whoa!! You scored there!! But I did get canned veggies, better than nothing!! But our freezer sectional have been depleted, at least every time I've gone. I mean no waffles, pizza, appetizers, nothing! It's gotta balance put sometime, right!!also, I too have been shopping at a store i normally don't do the bulk of my shopping. I just want to get it all done in one shot so I've been going to one store only instead of my normal 3 or 4. And I think your snack cup idea is fantastic!! 💜💚
Denise, it was definitely like that several weeks ago. My Walmart super center seems to be the place that is "rebounding" the best as far as stocking goes. I know that probably varies greatly from place to place, though. Thanks for watching!
Mine usually last 5-7 days at least. I guess it depends on the date on the package. I try to check and make sure I'm getting the longest dated one on the shelf.

What is the ingredient you're avoiding in the almond milk and cottage cheese? Why are you avoiding it? I have several ingredients that I'm allergic to so I read a lot of labels but I've never heard of that one.

They have smaller keurigs (sp?) (to save space) and you can get a reusable K-cup to reduce waste and save money

I use my a reusable filter and coffee grounds instead of the pods and I love it may want to try that no waste and still get your one cup at a time

I bought the plastic containers for cereal a few years ago. The cereal always seems to pick up a plastic taste and smell to me so I quit using them. I love the idea though. I've went to using glass containers.
Cincinnati chili can be purchased in cans too. It may be just a regional thing, but worth looking into as a time saver.
If you get delayed for any reason, always give the Walmart Pickup local line a call and they will always hold your stuff for up to 24 hours. No problem.

At Walmart they have a coffee maker that you can either do a single cup or a pot. It is actually reasonably priced
We have one like that and love it! The one cup can use kcups or has it's own filter to fill with your own coffee.
I bought reusable kcups on amazon before this madness started and they’ve been great.

I do not sanitize by groceries either. I just use precautions before going inito the store- i wish i could go early in the morning with Senior hour BUT my mom is 96 and i don't have anyone to sit with her early- so i go whenever i can get someone- love hauls= your vids are great

We are budgeting a little more for groceries right now, too. We are eating so much more at home (and I thought we were good about that before!). We usually spend around $650/month. We've had to increase it just slightly. That includes all our paper goods, cleaning products, toiletries, etc., too.

Wal-Mart is LITERALLY in my backyard. I can get from my door to theirs in less than 2 minutes walking. That intercom goes all day - we hear it all through our house. The traffic this Wal-Mart brought when it opened 6 months ago was bad enough. The intercom is maddening! TFS Stay safe and well 😷

Cannot recommend the Ninja Coffee Bar enough! We replaced our Keurig a little over 2 years ago and have loved it. Ours makes 6 different sizes, from single cup to full carafe, in either hot or cold coffee.
I am checking that out because so many people here have recommended it!

I still use them occasionally. I drink a lot of water but sometimes i just need something extra! I’ll admit, I let my kids have them occasionally, too, because they will drink their water with them. I usually strike a bargain and tell them they can have some drink flavoring for their water if they drink two glasses just plain first
I get bit really bad from mosquitos to. I Use the deet free bug spray from AVON and I love it!

Can you do a pour over. Albertsons used to sell a melitta for 2.99 which is what I use but they haves variety of price points out there. Just makes 1 cup at a time. I got the idea from Starbucks and they sell a pricier pour over cup

Just another chicken recipe that you could try out. I like to do a Greek style chicken. I cube chicken breast and marinate them in Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and dill. Then I place the cubes on a sheet pan and bake them in the oven or you can shish kebab it and put them on the grill. We like to do a zucchini and squash combo with the Cavenders Greek seasoning as a side dish.

It's just too overwhelming for me to think about. I'm not even sure what "thorough" would look like in that case. I tend to take everything out of packages anyway, and the stuff going in the freezer...surely the virus can't live there long!

What happens to refrigerated items. I know when I have been in sams I just see a line of carts. I guess I don’t Think they would put refrigerated/freezer items back or do they?
I believe they keep the orders in refrigerators and freezers in a special part of the store where they load them. My items are always cold/frozen, even when I know they've been selected a few hours before.

My husband and I have been home from work since March 20th. He's been working from home and I work for Starbucks and they have been paying us to stay safe since then. I do go back Monday, a little nervous but we shall see! Anyway, since March 20th i have gone to the grocery store 3 time. Not once have i been able to get any frozen veggies!! I saw your haul and even hubby was like, whoa!! You scored there!! But I did get canned veggies, better than nothing!! But our freezer sectional have been depleted, at least every time I've gone. I mean no waffles, pizza, appetizers, nothing! It's gotta balance put sometime, right!!also, I too have been shopping at a store i normally don't do the bulk of my shopping. I just want to get it all done in one shot so I've been going to one store only instead of my normal 3 or 4. And I think your snack cup idea is fantastic!! 💜💚
Denise, it was definitely like that several weeks ago. My Walmart super center seems to be the place that is "rebounding" the best as far as stocking goes. I know that probably varies greatly from place to place, though. Thanks for watching!
How long do greens last that way?
Mine usually last 5-7 days at least. I guess it depends on the date on the package. I try to check and make sure I'm getting the longest dated one on the shelf.
Another option on coffee makers is to get a French press. We use ours on the weekends mostly since I am still working. It makes a great cup of coffee.

I also have a neighborhood market really close to me too. I live in The Village and its really close to everything! Super fortunate!

I have a programable Mr. Coffee that can make 2 cups up to 12 cups. I bought it at Walmart and it was very inexpensive.

What is the ingredient you're avoiding in the almond milk and cottage cheese? Why are you avoiding it? I have several ingredients that I'm allergic to so I read a lot of labels but I've never heard of that one.

Carrageenan. It’s in a lot of dairy and lunch meat. I probably don’t avoid it altogether, but I try.
I'll have to research that I'm a chronic migraine sufferer and so I have a lot of allergies to food that cause migraines
