Yes, me too. The generosity of tone, sense of line and exploration of the whole dynamic range will forever remain in my memory. I heard Ms. Norman sing Les Nuit d'Ete in London in the early 1990's and her performance will long remain in my memory as one of the greats. That said, here is a new and incredible soprano who will bring new insights to the rep. May she enjoy an amazing career.

Right now, we are in the presence of rare, truly magnificent greatness with Ms. Davidsen on stage. If at all possible, do not miss the chance to attend Lise Davidsen’s live performances. A voice such as hers only turns up once or maybe twice every century. Comparisons to Kirsten Flagstad and Birgit Nilsson would be inevitable, since Lise Davidsen’s singing sounds refreshingly similar. However, such comparisons would be only justifiable by listeners who were fortunate enough to have heard either of those legendary Ladies live on stage. As for myself, all I have for references are Flagstad’s and Nilsson’s recordings, but it’s safe to say listening to Ms. Davidsen in person at the House gave me the impression that I went on a time capsule back to the glory days of Opera’s past.

    • @gigiwoodard2661

@@matthewdavid3409 in person, at the House, the voice is so powerful that gave me immediate physical reactions the second she opened her mouth. But Ms. Davidsen is not just a powerhouse, her timbre is gorgeous and she sings like a goddess.

Beautiful. It’s nice to see positive and supportive comments. On the other hand, while an opinion is granted to all, what a marvelous opportunity for singers to be wonderful and human, pursuing their craft in the face of commentators who have nothing better to do than to criticize every note, bit of technique and to compare every singer to our great singers of the past, who are and were human as well.
I hope she continues to do well, enjoys her career and has the strength to ignore base, rude, overly opinionated, immature, disrespectful and down right disgusting comments shelled out by those who get to sit and mock behind a computer screen. It has to be said because enough is enough!! She’s out there like to many doing the thing! Bless her, our art form and others that are sacrificing so much to pursue their dream.

If this is golden age singing to you then we've truly lost what good Opera singing is all about. This is just as bad as the aformentioned. She's nasal, covering way too low (nasty mask singing technique which kills the voice) and she's barely audible in the middle or lower parts of the voice without the hidden microphone that's helping her.

The voice is restless, the vibrato much too big. I know that many like Davidsen because she is loud, but that is not a quality criterion. In addition, she doesn't always sing clearly language-wise. For me, a hype is being made about her that only comes from the fact that there is very little hope in the opera sky at the moment. And there, the one-eyed are quickly queens.
