My compaq presario struggled to run this game (software rendering), so I remember running it at 320x240 to get smooth frame rates. I would play phobos with as many bots as possible, instagib, with my loud headphones on. It was a pixelated mess, but man was it glorious. It was like another world. Sometimes I would up the resolution to 1024x768 just to get a taste of greatness, at about 5fps. The graphics looked better than real life to me. And man, that mellow intro of the phobos music before I clicked to start the match and unleash chaos... So surreal. :*)
i wonder sometimes if todays kids will have fond memories of the modern games they play now after many years
@@giedmich I was so confused when I was little kid, what is going. I just run ran forward and tried to kill someone if I could, the only one I really remember is the Unreal Tournament 99 soundtrack, I remember how I was also played one of favourite maps Facing Worlds II and Highway Speed.
i ran the Game on a P3/1Ghz with Squeezed 1Gb - GFX was ok - 64MB Club3D
a few little performance tricks.. swap on second disk.
I remember pushing my old Nvidia TNT2 card as hard as it could go to get this game to run smoothly. But damn was it worth it.

I liked the 1999 Phobos Moon better than 2004's
Look at these pictures! They really did a great job with the "gritty derelict space station" feeling.
In fact, map work in this game was excellent, given the low resolution and polygon count they were working with. These textures are still top notch.

I used to love blasting people going for the boots and belt off the edge of the map.
Busted open my old UT 1999 GOTY to play this masterpiece of a game again in 2023 to remind me of it's greatness, and they've just turned the servers off...

@@Self2self. I'm not aware of that but I played the UT fan made game on the PC downloaded through the Epic store but there's no Last Man Standing unfortunately 😒
I remember being in grade 10 and a friend burning this on CD for me, endless online and bot action. I also remember Naliworld being a huge map site.

Este e Age of Wonders, do mesmo compositor das musicas, era o que eu jogava mais naquela época.
