Firstly, brilliant product and the company !! Please, please, please ... One thing wee are missing since beginning (Voice Live 1,2,3) is a video with real band performance in rehearsal set up from you guys. Drums,Bass, and Guitar. .Guitar and Vocal straight to recording(and PA) without guitar amp e.t.c. Slow ballad, classic rock tune, hard rock tune. One video,10 songs mix with only 1 werse,1 chorus and guitar solo. Now,that would be something. Add in acoustic guitar as well. Like real band scenario with monitors on(not headphones)
Hi M@nu Roch@ It wouldn't have to be active, but that's easier since you wouldn't have to carry a separate mixer. Your 1/4" guitar out would go to the active speaker and the XLR out(s) would go to the PA/Mixer to handle the vocals.
Accent on: 1) Guitar sound without Amp, what is possible to achieve with only VoceLive 3.Clean Sound, Crunch and Lead Solo.Garry Moore lead sound,AC/DC sound, some nice big chorus clean sound for ballads. 2) How harmonies sound when you heave real drums behind singer on small stage. I' am a very happy owner of Voice Live from beginning. This is only thing that is missing.Demo of product like this. Thanks
I wish these videos would take a clue from the guy who borrowed a Voicelive 2 and went thru all the presets without much pause to speak. He got it right. The unit wigged out on the very last preset but he said he was using the wrong power supply, and the unit worked fine when he returned it to his friend. The video is in 4 parts I believe. It really showed the vocal enhancement sounds of these fantastic products. I am going to buy one because of video's such as his. It's hard to find a good demonstration of what these can do without too much fluff in between demoing of presets.
+Donna Ah yep, we know that video. This was originally broadcast as a live to air streaming presentation with Tom and Craig, so there were real-time questions from users etc. It was a fun thing to do to connect to our user base, but not intended to be a whiz-bang demo of preset after preset. :)
Great! i really loved the guitar sounds! I had already ordered my VL3 Before i've seen this video, and now i'm even more convinced that it was a good decision! Can't wait for it to arrive! I also must say that the fact that i see Craig responding stuff in the forums and the importance that you guys give to User Feedback played a major role in me upgrading from a Voicelive Play Gtx to the VL3! :)
I tried the set up you mentioned today , but I can't use my volume and other knops on my amp anymore. Maybe I tutorial on a good connection ? I saw on the forum many struggle on this one.
Hi Tom and a Craig! Many thanks for yours great videos about the wonderfully TC VLX and TC VL. Yours videos are very necessary because the manuals are without detailed explanations. The problem is that in this videos often the things go too quick and I must look again and again (sometimes without good results) to the same video-fragment for understanding every step. I think that will be much easier for the users if you will write an appendix to the manual with step by step explanations and when is necessary with screen dumps and photos of the engine buttons (who have everyone too many names and uses). This manual will be welcomed and buyed by the 2- 300000 owners of the VLC-s, who I have seen that they follow you by TH-cam. Another good thing will be to make a couple of DVD-s with yours already recorded and showed videos on TH-cam who can accompany your book. I am shure that my proposes will be also welcomed by the owners of the Helicon- company, please ask them. I should be grateful for an answer. With my best regards, Mihai
This was a live stream meant to interact with the people watching, so it's less about giving complete tutorial and more about entertainment with some info thrown in. I hear what you're saying about having more robust tutorial videos. It's just a time and resource issue for us.
Hi thanks always for the video! I was using voice harmony pedal and other pedals but I just got the VL3, I use acoustic guitar and not an electric, I looked at the bodyrez styles but I would love it if there is a tutorial for acoustic players Hope I get a reply! thanks!!!
Hi Guys! As a new user of the VL3X i'm loving it. First show with it this weekend! It's bit daunting and i'm taking it slowly. Tom - Can you explain the 12 presets you use? Would be very helpful to see. Thanks very much. Cheers, Phil.
Firstly brilliant video. Question for future updates. Button mapping is on for vocal and guitar. Would button mapping be available for the looper in the future? Beta getting downloaded as we speak! :-) Also can you plug in more than one expression pedal? If so.. How? Thanks guys. Your dedication to updates and keeping in contact with customers is 1000 x more than ANY other music company. You Rock (in Bb)! Hehe JP
Heya JP, You can use more than one expression pedal. The "Expression" port is for an exp pedal that can change function from preset to preset. The "Footswitch" port can be changed in the Setup --> Buttonmap screen under "Footswitch Jack" from Switch3 to Expression and works Globally (across all presets). A good example of the two would be having a Guitar Wah assigned via the Expression port on one preset and Guitar Delay Send assigned on another preset, with Guitar Volume being assigned globally via the Footswitch jack expression pedal. Hope that helps!
Hi guys!!! One question...what about the thing Tom said at the begining? About sending the guitar sound directly to a PA cabinet, that sounds like pluged into a guitar amp. How to do it??? And the speaker, must be active, right?
You guys are great .I could listen to every show. I totally also went to Chillawack when you played that. ! My late brother Tim Kelly,Slaughter guitarist always loved TCE.My friend and I were recording his beautiful 12 string and know what you mean about chicken cluck.I do love effects but as a pretty natural guy I use just reverb and delay ,but man those harmonies are groovy.Love the easy guitar tone presets..I will suggest my buddies pick one up.VERY HELPFUL VIDEOS GREATLY APPRECIATED.SUBBING YOU remember . LEVERAGE=BEVERAGE! cheers.
Tom and Craig (Great videos) Question: My ear for reverb is terrible and the more I experiment on my my vlx3, the worse my live reverb gets (lots of complaints of too muddy).... Could you recommend a nice basic setting for my live vocal reverb? (My style is folkish) Thanks so much!
1) Feedback destroyer in Voicelive 4 for Live use . 2) Digital connection so it can be used in studios as an insert processor. For now this is a nice toy for those who like to play same 4 bars over and over in the room .
You can use VL3 as an insert in a DAW. Here's a video for VoiceLive Play, but it's exactly the same principle. I'd say you're probably about 90% likely to get anti-feedback in VL4. th-cam.com/video/Io3iRVHEvxo/w-d-xo.html
I use that all the time in Cubase and RME sound card. I make 2 extra mono outputs in Cubase .One chord out of RME goes to mic input ,the other one goes to guitar in (VoiceLive3), just so I can get proper harmonies.(You must have guitar and vocal line already recorded in CUbae ) And yes, turn the Lead Vox off. Open stereo track in Cubase and record effects from VoiceLive 3.This is much simpler than what you show in Logic video. Anyway...SPDF would be amazing to have and thanks for all your time .TC Helicon ,you guys rock.
It would be nice to have custom scales so you can choose all 12 notes on the harmonies. It makes things less complex programming. You can eliminate having multiple presets to one preset a lot of the time.
I all ready bought theT C Helicom play acustic black box new from sweet water about eight months ago .but I need one for my electric guitars for Contempary music it's great.
hey guys... love these vids, but I disagree with only needing a few presets. I have actually programmed a preset for EVERY song in my set, that way each is tailored perfectly for every song down to the BPM sync on delays. I also program my other devices the same to sync all effects to the same BPM. It only takes a sec to click one up for each (yes, for every show, I take the time to put presets in order.) Anyway, the result is amazing in tightening everything and having all vocal and guitar effects tailored per song and all in sync,
+Bo Ashby Having several presets/steps for each song is definitely a great way to go for those who want to put in the effort. I think Craig represents that type of player, where the band was recreating the record live as closely as possible. Tom's a bit on the other side where he prefers flexibility to jump around to various sounds as the mood strikes.
@@livefromthepsy-op1170 How does the pitch correction in the unit deal with bleed from the instrument getting into the vocal mic? In my experience that causes artifacts and phasing and can even make the voice sound more out of tune.

Hey guys ! Thank's! Really helpful. I have a question. I'm a busker, and I'm bot satiafied with the speaker that I am using. Do u have speaker that you would recommand for the voicelive 3 (performance wise)?
Hmm. We don't make bigger style speakers. Our FX150 is good for personal monitoring though and some folks turn them around for small gigs. That might work :) www.tc-helicon.com/en/products/voicesolo-fx150/
i myself play and sing with nothing but my guitar and little pa set up. I really likw what you can do with this, make things more interesting lol like it,,,, im getting this along with my boseL1 model2 system cant wait to test them out. BTW i have been looking at all the vl3 videos this one is very helpful thank you and great presentation on this. Ted
Hi! I have a few simple questions and I can't find the answer anywhere on the forum on your site in support section, so I've decided to try my luck here. The case is: I don't have the amp or preamp, I have just the Voicelive 3. What should I get to sound like Zakk Wylde or close to him? Can the Voicelive's amp simulation do it for me without investing in stuff like amp or preamp? I can tell you later my settings in preset I've created - it's enough to feel the metal sound, but... it's definitely not even close to Zakk's sound :D I don't know if you can do that, but maybe you can create a preset close to his soud and share it with people? I'm almost sure that not only I am interested in that... But even if I am the only one interested in that particular sound, it would be amazing to hear some advice from you. So, should I get the amp/preamp and a bunch of other pedal effects or should I try better to set up the sound in my Voicelive 3? Please, respond. Cheers!
Heya Jan, You can definitely run into a PA directly with VL3. Whether you can replicate a specific player's sound is mostly up to tweaking with the amp models and effects to taste for you personally. The forums can also be helpful in getting some other users to chip in their ideas for achieving a sound. support.tc-helicon.com/hc/en-us/community/topics
After mine sitting, I want to understand how to use it or sell. Have a question, tried a blues deluxe and DRRI. There is a very high pitched noise coming from both amps. It goes up and down with amps volume control. Has anyone experienced this problem? Finally turned off still upset. Before I found a video telling and showing how to turn noise gate off.. before I learned how, I would get some very intermittent low to nothing sound when strumming or picking. I'd love to get that piercing ear bleeding sound to go away and I'm lost. Hoping I can find an answer here. Thanks in advance for any help. ☮️
I really wish someone can tell me what the difference is The voiceLive 3 as opposed to the VoiceLive 3 Extreme.. Ive watched videos but none explain the actual differences between the two. Thanks to anyone that can answer this for me. So I can decide if ineed to get the voicelive 3 or if its worth it for me to spend a few hundred bucks more for the 3 extreme!!
Hey guys, great demo, thank you. I am about to order one (just recently changed my mind from VL Play to this). Anyway, a Q about using two guitars, both acoustic and electric: since I want both of them plugged via the VL3 for making harmonies but I don't want to switch jacks when I switch guitars, can I run the eguitar straight through to my amp and my ac.guitar directly to the PA? And at the same time making use of the effects in e.g. bodyrez for the ac.guitar but not using any effects for my eguitar output? I guess I need a two-to-one input jack somehow but what about the outputs?
That one is something that people struggle with and there's no easy solution. You'd need two A/B boxes to get a quick switch. You'd have your guitars plugged into one A/B, feeding into the VL3, then another A/B on the guitar output going to your amp and the PA for switching there. It's a use case that we really want to improve on and have plans to account for in products we develop later, but in VL3 we don't have a simple way to go in and deal with it at the firmware level. Sorry I don't have a simpler answer for you. That said, VL3 can sound great without an amp, so you could go direct to the PA for both electric and acoustic, leaving you with a single A/B box on the front end of things.
Thank You Crag and Tom I know tomorrow when My voice live EXTREEM comes LORD willing I need thos info to ues My guitar amp and peddel boards and set the EXTREEM peddel to.You and Yours be more blessed.
I have one silly question cauze im totally new here and with TC helicon. This vocal effect in some ways is amazing but please tell me. When i plug my guitar into this VL3 the key of my song for harmonys is automatically taken from my guitar, but can i connect my other old guitar effect like Digitech or Line 6 in some way to make them both work? And if so,how can i make the looper work with other guitar effects? Yesterday i had some trouble hearing my guitar in my in ear monitoring cauze i had my RP 500 playing but like i said,VL 3 is for life.
901Lostshadow Hi there, the clearer the VL3 can hear chord information, the more accurate it will be. So, if you heavily modulate or distort the guitar sound prior to going into the VL3 things won't work as well. Since we don't have an effects loop in the VL3, you'll have to compromise on having your extra guitar effects before the VL3 (potentially affecting chord recognition), or after (where they won't go into the loop). Personally, I'd try to drop the other effects if you can.
What is the difference makes this as good or better than the Peavey PV 14 at mixer I'm serious I'm going to buy one or the other need to know I'm goi g to use for Worship praise Contempary music.
Hello great video ! I just have a question that leaves me puzzled about the setup. I had a voice live play gtx and i own a marshall acoustic amp and a marshall half stack electric amplifier which i tried running my mic through the acoustic amp with the "mic in" and either" left or right" xlr outputs into the amp and my guitar into my stack which i tried running the "instrument in" and through the xlr either "left or right" with a high impedance cable (female xlr to 1/4 inch jack because apparently the "guitar thru" is a dry signal) into my pedal board which eventually went into my stack. The entire signal was coming straight out of my acoustic amp even when my marshall was turned on and i tried switching from "stereo' "mono" and "dual mono" and nothing worked. i was getting distortion effects from the pedal and my electric guitar from my acoustic amp! So i am not sure if it is possible to split up the signal to separate amplifiers. Regardless, after returning the voice live play gtx i am interested in buying a voice live 3 which i hope can run through both my amplifiers individually . When i am playing my acoustic guitar, my mic and guitar both run into my acoustic amp. And is there anyway you can bypass the amp simulator meaning simply using the pedal and getting a clean guitar amp signal or if you have the option to engage it when you need/want the amp simulator? LONG QUESTION but would love to get an answer ! Thanks !
4447josh Hi Josh, you can choose a different "Amp style" for each preset, but "Speaker Sim(ulation)" is a global control and can only be on or off at any given time. Dual Mono should give you "all your effected vocals" on one XLR out and "all your effected guitar" on the other. You'd be unable to run your acoustic and vocals to the acoustic amp unless you change to mono (not dual mono) mode, which sends the effected guitar and vocals down the left XLR and a dry (with tone) vocal signal down the right XLR (you'd leave the right XLR disconnected in that case). Since you're swapping guitars around, you might want to simply connect in either mono or stereo mode directly to the PA and avoid the amps altogether.
TC-Helicon Thanks a ton ! i will want it to work with my amps because it is in my studio and my PA is basically my acoustic amp which i do not want electric guitar to run through . yeah i would turn speaker simulation off when i use my acoustic guitar i guess of the cleanest sound through my amp, even though i do not own it yet, the voice live play gtx was a great product it just did not work for my needs. Keep up the great work and thanks ! I cannot wait to buy one
Hi Guys. Is it possible to use the Bodyrez presets globally. I already use the bodyrez from the amp block this way, but the presets sound better, and I would like to use one of those instead. Cheers. B Wade
Is there a way to send your Vocal(with Tone and Pitch) through one XLR out and then to send ONLY the VocalFX(reverb, delay ext.) through the other XLR out?
Mantvydas Čiuplys Yes, in MONO output mode. The exception being that any effects requiring the lead will come out both places (HardTune, Transducer) so you'd want to mute the unaffected one at FOH for those effects.
No, we can't eliminate it completely, but mic choice/proximity, monitor position/level all help a lot. Here's a video about "The Warbles". th-cam.com/video/pT-CCTmv2ZM/w-d-xo.html

dear Tom , Graig, where can y here the presets available for downloading? is a way to hear them first before downloading them?
Pedro Guzmán Any of our presets are available via VoiceSupport. www.tc-helicon.com/products/voicesupport/ That's also where you update your firmware. There's no preview for presets, but they're tiny and download in seconds. You need to move them onto your device before you can hear them.
Nice video but a bit confusing since Craig and Tom talk about an update coming right up. Obviously they're not talking about the build 120 that came out one month prior to the video (May 27). However build 120 is the newest update available in Voicesupport. When can we expect this new update? Cool new features btw :-)
Hi Henrik, there's currently a Beta on the forums over at support.tc-helicon.com/entries/76918256-VoiceLive-3-BETA-Firmware-Update-1-1-00-Build-158-Available-to-TestIt should make it to VoiceSupport as an official build sometime in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks a lot. Actually I found out myself and downloaded/updated yesterday. Cool new features! The lock function is really practical and man you really put more muscle into the compressor, it sounds great :-)) Not to mention Bodyrez. Well done!
can you tempo sync to ableton? I plan to trigger loops via ableton push creating my backing track and using VL3 for vocal effects/harmonies. Do I plugin the VL3 via USB to computer to tempo sync the vocal effects with my backing tracks form ableton?
What's the best way to set up the VoiceLive 3 Extreme with my PA (no board) and the FX150 Monitor? My goal is just to use the FX150 connected to my Mic stand for a personal monitor.. I want to monitor everything from the VL3E.. I have my vocals, guitar and backing tracks... My problem is the manuals are saying connect vocals and guitar to FX150 first, then out to VL3E... but I won'r hear the backing track or any effects... can you please help?
+Peter Dunbar The simplest connection to FX150 from the VL3X is to use the headphone out from VL3X into the Aux in on the FX150. That leaves you with the most flexibility for the main/guitar outs on the VL3X (for a PA if you do end up needing it) and at the FX150 for other inputs on CH 1+2.
@tc-helicon , can you please let me know if the VoiceLive3 amp, act like tube amps. i.e cleans up when you roll the volume down. is there any video you made showing this issue ? as I cant find it on your channel. The ultimate goal is to use it without carrying a guitar amp. and going through PA direct. do you think thats possible ? to sound like a proper amp ? Thank you
+Eli Joseph Doummar Yep, the amps do respond that way. Of course, using super high gain amps will only allow so much clean up at the lower levels, but on the amp models that are like Marshall, Vox, Fender etc. you can do it.
Can I program TC-Helicon VoiceLive 3 Extreme to be able to use my BEHRINGER FCB1010 MIDI Foot Controller with 2 Expression Pedals with EurekaPROM3 Chip? So I can go straight to the effects I want instead of juggling switches to get to the multi within effects within a song?
+Carlos Dasilva Sure. We recieve both PC and CC messages with VL3, so you can control effects on/off and preset changes from the FCB if you'd like to. We don't support expression pedal values, so that part of the FCB won't work. Our MIDI controls are listed in the manual on page 118. www.tc-helicon.com/products/voicelive-3/support/
hello I can use the VoiceLive 3 with electric bass guitar for the distortions , amps , effects ? or it is designed to be used by guitarists ? as he played with a bass guitar , given that there are no demo on TH-cam ?
+Pask Lauriola The guitar effects are designed for guitar, but a bunch of them could easily be used for bass. I'd just keep in mind that they're not "voiced" for bass so things like amp models would have to be tweaked.
Hey! :) I will replace my Guitar-Amp and Effect-Pedals with a monitor (like the VoiceSolo FX150) and the VoiceLife3. Is it possible to run my guitar and a mic with the VoiceLife3 and just a monitor or do I need something else? (mixing console, pc, a real guitar amp, etc. ...) Thanks for the answer!
Dextera You can run your mic/guitar into the VL3 then run the headphone cable from the VL3 to the FX150. In a small cafe or pub you could turn the FX150 around to face your audience. If it's a larger space, I'd connect the XLR outs from VL3 to some powered speakers.
Only for the livingroom :) That´s why I try to replace my small Amp with this solution. All in one ... But why with headphone cable? The FX150 has a XLR-In, the VL3 has a XLR-Out ...
Sure! In the ButtonMap tab (on the Vocal Edit screen), you could remap "Drive" from the guitar layer to the vocal layer. Then, you use the controls within drive to add some pre-gain (and likely lower the post-gain) to get some distortion.
I got this little problem of having my voice clipped whenever I am sustaining a note. It always like something is sucking the sound of my voice and then comes back again. I already put the talk trim to 0. And about the hold release, I tried to set it to 0 from 100ms, then saved it, but, whenever I turn on the unit it comes back to 100ms. I really don't know what to do. Can you guys help me out of this? I know that VL3 is awesome, just a little blip.
Niude Saitam Hi Niude, if you're clipping (seeing the LED light red on the input meter) then you need to turn down your input gain. Talk trim doesn't affect singing. It's a trim for the level that's output when you are in Talk/Tuner mode and have the effects bypassed. Some folks like a little more level to speak with the audience between songs or while tuning. We'll look into Hold Release not saving. You're referring to the Harmony block I assume?
Hi Jasper, I think it's even simpler than that. He plugs into the VL3 with his guitar and then sends his Guitar Out to the amp's Loop IN. I'll double check though and let you know if I find out differently.
Tom i watched your tutorial videos for years , even you are not an amazing singer i got used to your voice , and if you ll have a concert with your band somewhere i will come to watch
How do i get and use bodyrez?? I downloaded 1.0.20 off of voice-support onto my VL-3. with that update, do I have thee new play-acoustic features or not? If the update i downloaded doesn't have those features in it, when will the next software update be available to download off of VoiceSupport with the new bodyrez stuff? Thx for your help.
Hi Joshua, the "official" build should be sometime in the next couple of weeks. In the Beta, you can download the bodyrez presets from the forum thread and/or use the new Amp styles in the guitar Amp effect block. (they're at the end). The presets most accurately represent the Play Acoustic amp styles.
Hi chaps - the VL3 is now officially the most important chunk of my pedalboard. If it could send out midi clock/tempo for syncing to a second unit, I would buy eight of them tomorrow. Is this something that would require a complete overhaul, or could a firmware update implememnt this? Also - feel free to drop any hints about the VL4... I just KNOW the goblins are working on it. ;)
The VoiceLive 3 Extreme has been out! Im trying to find out the difference between the 2 and if its worth it to get the 3 Extreme OR if the palin old 3 is good enough!!
@@elliottnunez1057 Hey elliott - I use the plain VL3. As far as I know, the extreme is identical to the vl3 apart from the ability to import backing tracks and to automate effects on/off at certain points in their playback. We don't use tracks so the vl3 is more than enough for us, but the far cooler black finish on the extreme is very nice :) I do believe the original vl3 is now discontinued, so if you're buying new, you might be forced to go for the extreme regardless. The extra features can't hurt even if you don't intend to use them, and I think there has been a bit of a price drop - at least here in the UK - from about £650 to around £450. That's a lot, yes, but if you dive in and use the unit to it's fullest it's entirely possible that you might never need another pedal. We use them quite extensively in this vid, if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/Lvszz6LVzGE/w-d-xo.html Good luck with the hunt! - Mat

We actually just used 3 webcams. 1 for both Tom and Craig in the main shot, and 1 each on the devices. We just taped the product cams to the mic stands if I recall correctly.
Wou. Y am learning more and more of VL3 and thank you for the patience for my elemental questions, is so good sound , just that worth it, in 2 weeks of play now y can have some presets worked out like y want, and y don't know much about "steps" yet, may be is possible to make a chain of 3 or 4 presets inside "steps" to add some presets on the steps. What y haven't get of the system is if each preset that is added to one step means that then you can have inside the whole preset of election with vocals, loop and effect configuration included? In that case looks similar to have 6 choosen presets in a row all together in some space of users presets. You can move in between this 6 preset back and forward, then witch is the difference with steps order mode or is the same, and each one choose?
Pedro Guzmán Hi Pedro, A "Step" is like a preset within a preset and you can have 10 steps per preset. Lots of folks use steps for things like Intro, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Solo, Chorus, Bigger Chorus etc. You'd just go to the preset with the song name you've created and then press STEP at each point in the song where you want things to change. The STEP includes everything a preset does. You can do the same thing with presets next to each other, but some folks find that using the steps keeps the presets as more of a "container" for all the sounds within that song.

had my VL3 for over 6 months now and im not the most technical guy on the planet, love this bit of kit but need more help with it is their some forums out there for old rockers like me to get me going a bit quicker with my vl3 as im struggling bad with it, also got the Vocalist live 5 which im gigging with and is much easier to use but no where near as good as the vl3 , help please.
There's a Facebook user group for VL3 that seems to be pretty active. We don't participate there, but we do lurk a bit and watch it. I think it'll come up if you search for TC-Helicon VoiceLive 3
What would be wrong WITH the idea of the Owner's Manual being 2 or 3 times its current size IF in fact, it contains content, instructions and tips how to get the most out of the new VoiceLive.3 ? TC-Helicon rules the world now with VoiceLive.3 why even bother getting cheezy with the Instruction Manual for a $700 dollar vocal processor? Many of us have iPads and don't mind multi-hundred page PDF Reference materials! ---HHNET
Harry James A big part of manual writing consideration is the size and associated translations etc. The VL3 manual, as it stands, is 20K words. Getting much bigger than that would be an even bigger translation process, which is very time consuming and expensive. We're working on some solutions to provide more of the "what does this parameter do?" type info across more products, but it's a work in progress.
Understand > VL3 is a serious device > what isn't obvious out of the box is adjusting volumes in real time after selecting voices, FX, guitar stomps. The headphone feed is always blasting loud when using the Looper.
@Jerry Reff I completely agree! We are in the process of making sure there are accessible instructions available for all details, but in the mean time I have a few links for you to check out! First, our downloads page, where you'll find all available manuals, quick start guides, and other documentation (we went paper free recently!): www.tc-helicon.com/c/Tchelicon/Downloads?text=voicelive+3#googtrans(en|en) Next, a few user-generated tutorial videos that I have found helpful in learning the ins and outs of VL3: th-cam.com/video/jHGaaqeO3ew/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/MzE6by8ooNA/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/0aVeNNlRas4/w-d-xo.html There are lots more wonderful video tutorials (including some targeted how-to's from TC Helicon like this one on looping: th-cam.com/video/fPkprb6D1ko/w-d-xo.html) and we encourage you to look for videos from other users! And finally, I will point you to our resource/forum pages: The Knowledge Base is where our product testers post articles and definitive answers to FAQs: kb.musictri.be/brand?name=tch And the community forum, where product users can post questions, and our engineers and other community members can respond: forum.musictribe.com/forumdisplay.php?136-TC-HELICON Hope this is helpful to you as you get to know your VoiceLive 3!!

But where is the list of expression pedals that are compatible with my voice live 3,, is possible that y have not found this answer in TC manuals or in internet?.................
Pedro Guzmán We've tested a few pedals around the office, but can't reasonably test everything out there. There's a thread on our forums where people have been reporting which pedals are successfully working with their VL3's. support.tc-helicon.com/entries/39192663-Expression-Pedal-for-VL3
I need to cut the guitar out of the pa, I'm using my own fx into the fx loop in my amp and the is going into the pa through the helicon 3, how do i shut it off
I'd use the instrument in/thru. Go Guitar --> VL3 guitar IN --> VL3 guitar THRU --> Pedals/Multi-fx --> Amp. This will mute the guitar in the VL3 completely, but still capture the chords for harmony/hardtune. You want the guitar going dry into the VL3 for the most clarity so our chord detection listens before effects.
Is there PC/MAC based software that offers a GUI to help develop new presets? I'm using a Roland GR-55 that has some pretty slick software that opened up the entire system. It would be cool to know if the VL3 has something similar!
+Rob Goulet (LocalWebMediaConsultant) We don't create editors for our products. It's one of those things that's very passionately requested but by a small group of users. Editors are big projects and at the moment we don't have time to do them alongside our other development. You can check out voiceliveeditor.com Ian's a great guy and we've helped him where we can. We may do more with editors in the future, but I don't know for sure.
niir chowdhury The presets from the live stream haven't been made available as far as I know. They may not exist anymore if the VL3's were reset after the show and there wasn't a backup made. I'll check to see if I can get any more info. For all firmware updates, use VoiceSupport www.tc-helicon.com/products/voicesupport/
Seeing you both were there I was hoping to see you both use your VL3's together. You know like the lead singer using the doubler and maybe a 3rd up or two up and the background singer doing 3 part behind him. Or one using two up and the other using two down, maybe next time. Question, can you link two VL3's together so the rhythmic timing syncs?
Hi Don, We'll mess around with more "2 guy" VL3 stuff in the future for sure!If we implement MIDI clock in the future, we'll likely allow for one unit to be the "master" to others in the chain as "slaves".
having problem with my expression pedal its not working properly im using zoom f02 calibrate it also and try all the setting still not ok, when i turn down and turn up the pedal, it doesnt turn the volume gradualy down and up! like from 100% its goes to 50% then 0% there should be in the middle of 100% like 75% then 50% from 50% then 25% to 0% somthing like that! pls HELP guyz??? hope youll make a video covering the use of all the pedal capabilty and accuracy when using live! thanks more powers VL#3
John S Hi John, when you calibrate, does it complete the calibration process? There's two different calibrations, one for if it's connected to the Expression jack and one for the Footswitch jack. Also, keep in mind that you can limit the range of the pedal by changing the MinPos and MaxPos settings. Here's a video about that: How To Set Minimum and Maximum Expression Pedal Controls
TC-Helicon iv already done that all the setting , but the real problem is my zoom EXpedal is not compatible. i go back to store where i bought it,good thing they havE this old stock M-AUDIO EX-P!!! so they replace it just need to add some cash!!! BUT WHEN I GOT HOME AND TEST IT AGAIN WOWWWWW BOOM IM AMAZED WITH THE WAHWAH AND VOLUME COTROL WORKS WELL!!! THANKS VL3 HELICON! more powers!!!
+thisisme All presets in VoiceLive 3 are both vocal and guitar settings. If you want the guitar to stay the same all the time, you can set up one preset with all the effects you like and then go to the Setup menu and choose "Global Guitar FX ON". This will "lock" the guitar effects in their current state and allow you to change all the presets while only having the vocal side change. There's a lot of power in having control over the guitar effects per-preset too, but it does take some setting up to figure out exactly how you want to use things in your own music.
+randy bomar I'd start by going through the presets to find a sound you like. Then, you can look into the edit pages to see what amp style and settings etc. are being used. From there, you can set up a new preset or modify an existing one to use those settings.
"you can connect via MIDI to guide harmony or send CC's/PC's." Could you dumb that down for me? I imagine it is easier for us users to just tell you what we want to do, then it is for us to ask a question, that we think is the question to ask for what we want to do but ultimately is the wrong question to ask and you have to waste good time trying to sleuth that out while not insulting the user by telling them they are asking the wrong question. I want to use the VoiceLive for recording vocals and effects with my Abelton DAW that is in my Macbook Pro...I want to also see if I can use the VoiceLive effects for recording Sax. I want to use my digital piano to guide harmony and/or find any other way(s) I could use a midi compatible keyboard instead of a guitar. My specific question would be how do I make the physical connections to integrate what ever it is I need to for this purpose, and even more importantly, the instructions on the digital setup too. (If there is a video that shows this, point the way, because I learn much much easier watching your videos than reading the manual.) On a side note....to all of you out there that sometimes wonder if you are not as smart as the normal person because you can read the same paragraph in a manual 10 times and it still not make any sense....no matter what the manual is for....Don't think it.....I did fine in law school and passed my Bar on the first attempt, I almost always end up having a bout of tourettes reading any manual. I don't know if they let engineers write the manuals instead of normal people or write them so poorly on purpose that you have to buy the $99 tutorial videos.....(I have not attempted to read the VoiceLive 3 manual because it is my brothers and he hand it to me a couple of days ago and said, "learn this thing for me") so I am not judging the VoiceLive 3 manual.
Andrew Babcock There's not a specific video, but here's how I'd do it quickly. First, use a set key and scale rather than a guide track from keys/MIDI. It's much more straightforward to press/hold the harmony button and then enter the key manually than to wire up the external MIDI source. Then, connect a mic to the VL3 and the XLR outs from the VL3 to your audio interface and record the results in the DAW. That's about the most straightforward approach.
Sure, you can connect either audio from the keyboard to the Aux input or MIDI to the MIDI input. MIDI is more accurate since it's just data and doesn't care about what sound the keyboard is making. If you are using audio, the VL3 just needs to be able to clearly hear chords.
hi can anyone tell me if this unit would flexible for using its guitar effects then out to a real overdrive pedal into an amp without the amp simulater on . if so that would be a no brainer ! thanks
Yep, there's a global amp sim on/off that you can fire up. I think the only issue going into a distortion pedal would be that effects from the VL3 would be applied first, so you'd have reverb before distortion, which can be cool but isn't the typical signal chain. You could try to run the distortion pedal before the VL3. The only thing to watch would be that the signal isn't so distorted that our chord detection starts having a hard time. I'd experiment with that way first though, since it might just work out fine. Make sure to also turn the Amp block (guitar effects menu) off in addition to the speaker sim (setup menu).
Lenny Frank Ciaccio On boot, put a paperclip (or small wire) into the headphone jack at the back of the unit. There's a small switch inside at the very back. It'll boot into Maintenance Mode where you'll have some options for restoring the unit to factory settings/presets etc.
Thanks guys, very informative and inspiring. I've got too many questions so I'll watch this video numerous times
Tonight's gig was my first with the VL3 - Terrifying, but sooo much power! I love it so much. Thank you guys.
Haha kind of like driving a Ferrari? ;)
Glad you're having a good time with it!
Hi M@nu Roch@ It wouldn't have to be active, but that's easier since you wouldn't have to carry a separate mixer. Your 1/4" guitar out would go to the active speaker and the XLR out(s) would go to the PA/Mixer to handle the vocals.
Thanks guys , you are the best !!!!
And the best company , you're really listening to the customer.
Hi guys - great video. Did you put any of the presets used here online? I can't find them in VoiceSupport2. Thanks.
Got it. Still learning how. 2 use it.
But, so far, I'm loving the TC-H V-live 3X
Tom is a very good player. Not my style or taste but he delivers.
Can I ask you what's the price??, I'm very interested!! great guitar tones it has!!
With my best regards,
Mihai
This was a live stream meant to interact with the people watching, so it's less about giving complete tutorial and more about entertainment with some info thrown in. I hear what you're saying about having more robust tutorial videos. It's just a time and resource issue for us.
its good that it has a such a small learning curve, easy to operate...I like that
Hi thanks always for the video! I was using voice harmony pedal and other pedals but I just got the VL3, I use acoustic guitar and not an electric,
I looked at the bodyrez styles but I would love it if there is a tutorial for acoustic players
Hope I get a reply! thanks!!!
Also can you plug in more than one expression pedal? If so.. How?
Thanks guys. Your dedication to updates and keeping in contact with customers is 1000 x more than ANY other music company. You Rock (in Bb)! Hehe
JP
Heya JP,
You can use more than one expression pedal.
LEVERAGE=BEVERAGE! cheers.
Hi guys! How do I download the presets that you guys are using here?
Tom and Craig (Great videos) Question: My ear for reverb is terrible and the more I experiment on my my vlx3, the worse my live reverb gets (lots of complaints of too muddy).... Could you recommend a nice basic setting for my live vocal reverb? (My style is folkish) Thanks so much!
how do you set your tap tempo on the set button?
What is the actual artist and song name for the song in which you espouse your love for Mr. Lang?
Is the quality or processing of harmony more advanced on the voicelive 3 compared to the voicelive Play Acoustic?
More voices
@@livefromthepsy-op1170 How does the pitch correction in the unit deal with bleed from the instrument getting into the vocal mic? In my experience that causes artifacts and phasing and can even make the voice sound more out of tune.
@@stevenotice2918 I haven’t gotten mine yet, I just been doing intense research because I’m about to take the plunge. In my humble opinion you might want to upgrade your mic. Can we use an acoustic guitar with the VL3
@TC Helicon
Which one has outright better sound quality? VL Play, GTX Play, VL3, VL3 Extreme?
Hey guys !
That might work :)
www.tc-helicon.com/en/products/voicesolo-fx150/
i myself play and sing with nothing but my guitar and little pa set up. I really likw what you can do with this, make things more interesting lol like it,,,, im getting this along with my boseL1 model2 system cant wait to test them out. BTW i have been looking at all the vl3 videos this one is very helpful thank you and great presentation on this. Ted
Tom,What set up do you have for the zz top guitar sound..Thanks,
Keep up the good work bro, love u
I can tell you later my settings in preset I've created - it's enough to feel the metal sound, but... it's definitely not even close to Zakk's sound :D
I don't know if you can do that, but maybe you can create a preset close to his soud and share it with people? I'm almost sure that not only I am interested in that... But even if I am the only one interested in that particular sound, it would be amazing to hear some advice from you.
So, should I get the amp/preamp and a bunch of other pedal effects or should I try better to set up the sound in my Voicelive 3? Please, respond.
Cheers!
Heya Jan,
You can definitely run into a PA directly with VL3.
If there is no new videos for acoustic guitar/vocals Please let me know if there is anything I can learn from,
thank you
I cant find a modulated reverb on any my body rez presets! How can I find the sound on the video.
Tom....What is the Preset number for" Low Rider" on VoiceLive 3 Extreme ?
I really wish someone can tell me what the difference is The voiceLive 3 as opposed to the VoiceLive 3 Extreme.. Ive watched videos but none explain the actual differences between the two. Thanks to anyone that can answer this for me. So I can decide if ineed to get the voicelive 3 or if its worth it for me to spend a few hundred bucks more for the 3 extreme!!
Two differences are Extreme adds the ability to import and store backing tracks and also to record on a flash drive within the unit.
OK, thanks a lot for your reply. I'll make sure to explore the guitar sounds of the VL3 as well!
Thank You Crag and Tom I know tomorrow when My voice live EXTREEM comes LORD willing I need thos info to ues My guitar amp and peddel boards and set the EXTREEM peddel to.You and Yours be more blessed.
hi, folks, can you do a demo with midi input via keyboard
Question: can I use the guitar effects in "all wet" mode in order not to have the dry sound to be used in a parallel send return?
No, there's not a dry guitar signal path that can be removed. Interesting idea for future products though!
Is that possible in a future update of this product?
WHERE? in Tom's Preset Pack is Smooth Sustain and Low Rider??
I had one of your vocal processors a couple years ago but it was unusable in a full band situation. Have you remedied the bleed problem?
Ok thanks!!
Hi Rica, currently VL3 doesn't accept MIDI tempo. It's something that we're looking into for the future.
thanks! Does VL2 or VL2 Touch accept MIDI tempo? I'm looking for any of your vocal effects (ex. Delays) to sync with ableton.
Cooooool!
Awesome, so the headphones connected won't kill the signal to the PA from L,R outs?
Esta Gradioso! este pedal 3, creo que esta superando a todo lo que existe en este momento, voy a ahorrar $ para comprarlo en cuanto pueda.
More demo's less waffle!
Was Tom playing a Larrivee acoustic guitar?
I believe so yeah.
Can I program TC-Helicon VoiceLive 3 Extreme to be able to use my BEHRINGER FCB1010 MIDI Foot Controller
with 2 Expression Pedals with EurekaPROM3 Chip? So I can go straight to the
effects I want instead of juggling switches to get to the multi within effects within
a song?
Hey! :)
I will replace my Guitar-Amp and Effect-Pedals with a monitor (like the VoiceSolo FX150) and the VoiceLife3.
Hello CRAIG, I use the body Rez 1 for most of my gigs is there a way to remap a button with a distorted guitar sound to the vocal screen?
Sure! In the ButtonMap tab (on the Vocal Edit screen), you could remap "Drive" from the guitar layer to the vocal layer. Then, you use the controls within drive to add some pre-gain (and likely lower the post-gain) to get some distortion.
TC-Helicon I'll try that thanks!
HELP!! Hey! My VL3 not responding, when turned on, blue screen and all pixels are on and nothing happening. Any help Please!!
So Tom's connection. Voicelive 3 guitar out → sent in efects loop → sent out → Voicelive 3 guitar in. Then guitar cable in input amp ?
Hi Jasper, I think it's even simpler than that. He plugs into the VL3 with his guitar and then sends his Guitar Out to the amp's Loop IN. I'll double check though and let you know if I find out differently.

Se me olvidaba cuando lo comercializan en la Cd. de Mexico?, espero sea pronto TC Helicon y gracias por su nueva tecnologia del TC-Helicon 3.
I use body rezz and Ambient withMy electric guitars also.
I'm also not finding how to turn on bodyrez for acoustic. Downloaded 1.0.20 last night.
TC-Helicon
The official build is now on VoiceSupport! Build 161 adds a ton of features and improvements.
We can hear thank You.
Does this thing have eq?
We don't use tracks so the vl3 is more than enough for us, but the far cooler black finish on the extreme is very nice :)
I do believe the original vl3 is now discontinued, so if you're buying new, you might be forced to go for the extreme regardless. The extra features can't hurt even if you don't intend to use them, and I think there has been a bit of a price drop - at least here in the UK - from about £650 to around £450.
That's a lot, yes, but if you dive in and use the unit to it's fullest it's entirely possible that you might never need another pedal.
We use them quite extensively in this vid, if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/Lvszz6LVzGE/w-d-xo.html
Good luck with the hunt!

@@MatONeill Thank you for the reply! Now ive got an idea what the two are all about.Ive found a few regular 3s used and new. But i think ill go for the extreme. I have a line 6 Helix I probably wont need it anymore if i bought this. Ah but ill probably wind up keeping it anyway or maybe use the Helix and extreme together! Thanks for the info apprciate it!
@@elliottnunez1057 No worries brother :) have fun!
@@MatONeill I checked out the link. Sounded pretty damn good. would probably use backing tracks, because doing it the way its done in the video would drive me nuts lol. too much for one person to worry about, too many wires MiDi all seems too complicated. Ive had my Helix for about 2 years and STILL trying to figure out all the stuff it does and how to apply it live and in the studio. definately cool set up in the video.. if i was a little more electronic savy or had another someone to help Id invest in more gear so someone else can figure out how to use it. between work and practicing i have time for NOtHING else. But yeah the extreme i think is the way im gonna go. Thanks !!
What was the name of that song they were playing? 37 minutes into to video
+Carlos Dasilva Craig just whipped together an original song for the video.
I want to film my voicelive like that how did you do that, I mean which standard did you use
We actually just used 3 webcams. 1 for both Tom and Craig in the main shot, and 1 each on the devices. We just taped the product cams to the mic stands if I recall correctly.
TC-Helicon that's awesome! I love that!
I sometimes come back to listen to Craig's song about 37:00.
+Hans Anderson Hahah!
Excellent then, y will go on with steps, before y get to loop time, that will be my last task, thank you very much, y stay with your videos every day, very nice veru important for us new users
had my VL3 for over 6 months now and im not the most technical guy on the planet, love this bit of kit but need more help with it is their some forums out there for old rockers like me to get me going a bit quicker with my vl3 as im struggling bad with it, also got the Vocalist live 5 which im gigging with and is much easier to use but no where near as good as the vl3 , help please.
There's a Facebook user group for VL3 that seems to be pretty active. We don't participate there, but we do lurk a bit and watch it. I think it'll come up if you search for TC-Helicon VoiceLive 3
Thanks that would be great.
First, our downloads page, where you'll find all available manuals, quick start guides, and other documentation (we went paper free recently!): www.tc-helicon.com/c/Tchelicon/Downloads?text=voicelive+3#googtrans(en|en)
Next, a few user-generated tutorial videos that I have found helpful in learning the ins and outs of VL3:

th-cam.com/video/MzE6by8ooNA/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/0aVeNNlRas4/w-d-xo.html
There are lots more wonderful video tutorials (including some targeted how-to's from TC Helicon like this one on looping: th-cam.com/video/fPkprb6D1ko/w-d-xo.html) and we encourage you to look for videos from other users!
And finally, I will point you to our resource/forum pages:
The Knowledge Base is where our product testers post articles and definitive answers to FAQs: kb.musictri.be/brand?name=tch
And the community forum, where product users can post questions, and our engineers and other community members can respond: forum.musictribe.com/forumdisplay.php?136-TC-HELICON
Hope this is helpful to you as you get to know your VoiceLive 3!!
TC-Helicon We know the Yamaha FC-7 doesn't work, for example.
okey thanks y have a roland ev5 waiting for the arrival of vl3 to my atelier. anxious now!!
Hello guys ! It would be so cool if you ‘d havé made french subtitles 😁
Well, 'LOW RIDER', made it all 'worth well', as I'm a WAR 'fan'!!! ;)
Where is their presets? N how to get them with latest update firmware?
niir chowdhury The presets from the live stream haven't been made available as far as I know.
Hi, I would like to know Tom's connection to the amp with voicelive 3.
What about the 4 Cable method? help me plz....
Hiya, in this video both Tom and Craig were direct Stereo XLR out to the mixer. Both vocals and guitar were carried in the XLR out.
Can I run this through my Keyboard rig?
Phil Jones Yep, you can connect via MIDI to guide harmony or send CC's/PC's.
HELP. When i change the guitar preset it will also change the vocal preset to the same. Why the hell is this happening?
+thisisme All presets in VoiceLive 3 are both vocal and guitar settings. If you want the guitar to stay the same all the time, you can set up one preset with all the effects you like and then go to the Setup menu and choose "Global Guitar FX ON". This will "lock" the guitar effects in their current state and allow you to change all the presets while only having the vocal side change.
There's a lot of power in having control over the guitar effects per-preset too, but it does take some setting up to figure out exactly how you want to use things in your own music.
how to set a clean fuzz or distortion sound for soloing
Hi there, can i run keyboard to tc helicon voicelive 3 to control harmoniser how ,thanks
Make sure to also turn the Amp block (guitar effects menu) off in addition to the speaker sim (setup menu).
how do i return to factory preset settings for voice live 3
Lenny Frank Ciaccio On boot, put a paperclip (or small wire) into the headphone jack at the back of the unit. There's a small switch inside at the very back. It'll boot into Maintenance Mode where you'll have some options for restoring the unit to factory settings/presets etc.
Thanks so much
