Hi Baz, the manual is a bit out of date, since we changed the way the MIDI menu is shown so it's simpler now. Essentially, you've got an input and output section for MIDI. The CC channel and MIDI channel are one in the same. If you're receiving MIDI and see the light on the VL3 screen, you know the channel is correct. Then, you're down to the filters. If you have any filters set, you might be filtering the PC's or CC's. Keep in mind that the filter parameter shows you what you're filtering OUT not what you're letting in.
TC-Helicon Hi again, I have the filters set to "None" in the MIDI menu. There are no filter setting in the Input or Output menus. I have Firmware Version 1.2.02 Build 187. This is so frustrating. It just don't work how it should do. I rely heavily on what the manual is telling me. Maybe my unit is not working properly or something else is amiss 8-( It is receiving the MIDI message but not changing anything. I have raised a ticket with support but until now received no reply. Could it be something specific to certain preset settings?
TC-Helicon Just as an FYI, the manual mentions a CC channel, but that's been removed and changed to a separate incoming and outgoing MIDI channel. You can't run separate PC and CC channels.
TC-Helicon I raised a ticket with James of Support and now I'm trying to use my Roland FC-300 to offload the guitar layer for control and use the two on-board expression pedals but it appears that I will only be able to do this via sysex which I'm looking into right now. Any advice is warmly welcome.
I've just bought one. Great for live harmonies. Live performances have always been a drama when it comes to harmonies. Musicians come and go and along with them, backing vocals. I'm not the lead singer but now I can do all harmonies in any voicing I want just by singing lead along with the main singer (I don't send my lead vocal to PA). The result is absolutely fantastic. This is only possible due to the tremendous flexibility of Voice Live 3, including how you build harmonies up, the easy of storage and access and the various output choices.
@@robertlyle3806 I can’t remember the exact details as I haven’t used it in a while. But under each preset settings you have the option to adjust LEAD level. You can have it as low as zero.
i just bought an extreme. i have a problem. or im confused. i do not have any dry output from xlr 'voice - L mono' output when 'mono output' mode in setup menu is selected. What I mean is NO sound/signal can be heard when no effect is on. And activating an effect e.g delay or reverb or (it would seem) doubling etc, results in hearing only those wet output signals. This also occurs if the output mode is set to ‘stereo’, in this instance both left and right voice outputs only output fx wet signal.
This is looking better and better. I'm sold, vocally speaking. Awaiting the Guitar Closer Look for VL3, and hoping this will be as good of a live sound investment as I have been thinking so far!
I have to get one of these. Great video. Now we just need a box that can translate my language to another language, and make it rhyme. Some holographic backup singers would be cool too.
Can you use the guitar to tell the machine which harmonies to hit without actually hearing the guitar? I do a lot of live looping and this pedal would for sure save time between loops, but I'm not always playing the guitar while I sing harmonies. Maybe I could run the output of my boss rc300 into the aux of the VL3? I'd like to know if I can do this before I purchase the pedal.
Elijah Aaron Yep, sure. There's a few ways to approach it. You can save presets with a set key/scale if you don't want to use an instrument input, or you could use the in/thru and mute all internal guitar sounds, just capturing chord data. Or, if there's sufficient chord info in the rc300 you can run it into the VL3 aux and drive harmony from there.
TC-Helicon Wow - THANK YOU. Can't wait. Could have used the VL3 on my most recent vid! th-cam.com/video/pzCFyfVV0UI/w-d-xo.html - Can't wait to use this pedal on future vids!
Hi B; You mention at minute 7:30 or so, where you can plug a synthesizer into the Aux jack. I was wondering if that is from the headphone jack output or from the actual main output of the synth? In other words, the manual shows plugging an MP3 player into the Aux jack. That is typically a headphone level signal. I have both available. Please advise. Thanks.
Jeffrey Cranston The Aux in jack is set up to take devices like phones, HP outs and other line type level signals. That said, the mains from a keyboard work just fine. They tend to be closer to line level than mic.
Heya, I'd suggest you get in touch with support directly. They're the ones who can help with any kind of hardware issues. support.tc-helicon.com/tickets/new
So I've connected the device and facing challenge with separating vocal and Guitar tracks. For example, I want 229 AC Crunch for Guitar and 130 "Arena" for vocals. However once I select 229 and go on to select 130, its changing the guitar effects. Please advise.
where or how do I get that fixed and pedal harmony that he is singing in playing in a rock and roll band at the same time. Just got the product yesterday. This thing is so cool. I would like to find a harmony for the songs of the Eagles and the Doobie brothers. Any suggestions and far as setting that up?
I'd start with just setting up a couple of presets with different harmony voicings like "High", "Low", "High and Low" etc. and save them next to each other. Start experimenting with which voicings work best with the songs as-is and then start mucking about with adding a pedal voice etc. as you learn where the stock voices fit into things.
I ordered one of these and had to send it back because it doesn't do MIDI sync for the looper. I use an RC300 for my looper and I needed the VL3 to sync to MIDI sync so that I could sync my vocals with my RC300 loops. But it doesn't do that. Too bad! The other features are great. Hopefully they'll fix that in a firmware upgrade soon.
Hey Larry, I was let down by the lack of MIDI Sync as well. I employ a similar setup with the RC-505. I'd love to set the tempo with the RC and switch over to the VL3 for guitar looping ( frees up my hands for guitar and saving the other tracks on RC-505 for further vocal/beatbox embellishment). It DOES look like MIDI sync is on their list of Features planned to implement via Firmware updates and has been mentioned by TC on a number of occasions, but this near from launch they are more focused on stomping bugs. You can read more here: support.tc-helicon.com/forums/21570831-VoiceLive-1-2-3 I went ahead and made the jump. I'll be greatly disappointed if MIDI sync doesn't happen soon, but the other features of the VL3 are impressive enough to still serve a purpose... Just a 'not fully realized' purpose quite yet. Cheers!
I really wanted to keep the unit. But the lack of MIDI sync (or MIDI clock) was a deal breaker for me. The sound and other features of the unit are great. These guys are missing the boat if they don't add the ability to sync with the RC300. Imagine being able to use the RC300 as the 'master' looper and then the VL3 for vocal loops that are independently controlled BUT REMAIN IN SYNC with the RC-300. I believe it would be a HUGE reason to get one of these boxes if they implement that feature. But - until then. I sent mine back. No thanks
Hi Sam, sorry I can't reply to your linked comment. You've probably got replies turned off. We feel that the biggest factor in "real" (beyond the ears of the beholder) is the level of the effect. We tend to push the levels in demos, since folks complain when they're hard to hear on TH-cam etc. In practice, setting the levels more realistically can really help with the "natural" feel. Digitech makes different note output decisions than we do. I'd classify them as more dynamic, which can be read as "unpredictable" too. So, sometimes the DT unit will make a harmony we think is better than our choice, but then the next time it won't choose the same note, which can be frustrating. We go for a more set-in-stone output, so you can count on it, but if you don't like one of the notes it can be problematic. In VL3 you can create custom scales to get exactly the output you want. There's also a lot of depth to humanization and eq etc. to mess with as well.
Hey I have a question that i really am struggling with, is it possible on the VL3X to use more than one doubler on a given preset. I wanna remap Umod to a second doubler or second reverb with totally different settings in addition to ones already in the preset. Can i do it or do i have the limitation in DSP of only ONE doubler/delay/reverb/harmony effect per preset? Thanks :)
THANK YOU . THERE IS A POSIBILITY THAT THE MACHINE IS FLEXIBLE AND ABLE TO recognize BETWEEN THE TONE For example : between C and D Bar 50 degrees down and 50 degrees up. Nor must any chord OR Early harmony In order to recognize A TH3 IF CHOSEN.WHAT HAPPNS IF SOMONE Do not know TO PLAY ? SO ,,,.?
Damilola Bekes Yep sure can. We have sax and trombone players using the harmonies to generate a pseudo horn section. The only caveat is that when you get up into inhuman frequencies with say, a soprano sax, you can get some funky results. You're best to stay in reasonable human vocal range. Mariah excluded ;)
Ok,I think I will like to buy it then. how possible is it for Sax and voice to go on it at the same time, what I mean is that can Sax and Vocal be on TC-Helicon at the same time?kindly let me know
@@tchelicon I play sax and would like to use the Tc voice helacon to make a back track of other saxophone that are recorded on the internet and be able to play them back by them selves so I can play with them when I'm performing with my band so we don't haye to add 3. More horns can this be done with the t c helacon voice 3 or any other system you have
@@petesandoval4469 That can be done with VoiceLive 3 Extreme! Many of our products have an aux input that works well for backing tracks, but VL3X is designed to have your backing tracks integrated With your Voicelive and accessible through the same interface as the other effects. It sounds like that would best serve the needs you outlined 😊
Hi TC-Helicon.. This is a really cool pedal and I have watched a few introduction videos for it.. how ever I am playing a western guitar, a Yamaha cpx1000, and I would like to know if Voicelive 3 can emulate amplifiers spicificly made for that kind of guitar? Morten from Denmark
Sp3ctrum 30 Heya Morten, we don't simulate acoustic amps, but we do have BodyRez presets and amp styles that do a great job at getting rid of undersaddle pickup "quack" in acoustic guitars. The amp styles in VL3 are created with only the parameters you see in the box, so anything we've built could be done by a user. If you're into it, you could certainly spend time trying to get an approximation of your favorite amp.
Djam Music We don't have any plans to add per-preset EQ and compression settings. In a live environment, especially if you're moving from venue to venue, you are more likely to find yourself in a negative situation if you've got all sorts of EQ/comp settings throughout your presets than in a positive one. I can certainly see a FOH engineer that tours with a band having some specific settings for songs, but that's a level above what we want to offer. It's too easy for an average user to get into trouble with.
Hallo ! I do not find one important thing. I do not know how to set a different vocal volume in each preset, and guitars separately. This means, for example: Preset 1 - guitar at a volume level of 60%, vocal 65%. Preset 2 - guitar at a volume level of 80%, vocal 75%. This needs to be used when I want to use two or three different guitars during the concert, each having a different signal level. Just as when two or three singers want to sing, each with a different voice. I need to guarantee the same volume throughout the whole concert. I hope my question is understandable, my English is not good. Thank you for answer , Petr
If you go to the edit page for guitar or vocal and go all the way over to the right most tab called "preset" there's a trim control there. You can tweak the levels there. That said, using multiple guitars with VL3 is a bit of a weakness for the reason you mentioned. I've seen people run multiple guitars into a small mixer and then use the mixer to get all their levels even before heading off to the VL3. That is a bit of work but can help. Rest assured that we're addressing the concept of easily supporting multiple guitars in the next flagship product :)
Question: I need something like this for vocals, but don't need any of the guitar FX, what other product that you have is the right choice for that? (I do play guitar while I sing, but I control the effects for that from my pedal board)
You can use the guitar in/thru on VL3 which will still capture guitar chords for key/scale detection but will mute all the internal guitar sounds. You'd go into the VL3, thru to your pedals and on to your amp.
Hello Tom, here is Lars from Germany! I like what you are doing! Very symphatic and well done! I You ever come to Germany, I like to spend a coffee or a beer, whatever you like! You are a great talent. Nice haircut! Like mine ;-)
How do I turn off the guitar sound but keep it sensing chords? I want to use it with no guitar sounds from the guitar coming out. Right now I hear the guitar sound in addition to vocals from the main outputs.
Yep, transducer is our effect block that does any of the distortion and/or heavily filtered EQ sounds (megaphone, radio). The caveat with transducer is that it's feedback prone, due to the gains and EQ. Is there a specific sound you're after?
+collin mccarter I'm sorry keep piling up more questions, but here's a few more. So can I record my guitar playing while using the VL3X while I have a USB Flash Drive plugged in and then sing along to it later? Also would the VL3/VL3X work and be good for recording. I realize it's interned for live performances, but I would also like to use it for recording certain sounds with effects.
Hi TC-Helicon. i have a voice live 3 pedal and the voice fx 150 but can not understand how to set them up properly to get a clear sound when using a guitar and mic. there are no videos to show how to set them up. can you make a video showing how to set them up to each other ? by the way great piece of gear
+Ben Ranger The simplest connection to FX150 is to use the headphone output on VL3 to the Aux input on FX150. That leaves the other two channels free on the FX150 for other inputs, like another mic.
Hi TC-Helicon, Is there a rack version of VoiceLive 3? If not, then please make it in rack mount, as I am studio guy. This is a request from your customer. I love all your products. especially harmony effects processors.
I would be interested in the sound of Dave Gahan , Depeche Mode . I think his vocal sound is similar from the 80ies until now and is THE signature-sound of depeche mode. How they do this?
It's tricky for us to describe specific sounds in text. Typically, we get people to ask on the forums, since replies there become public and others can use them. Maybe give it a shot over there and see if any users can give you hand. support.tc-helicon.com/hc/en-us/community/topics
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I am a karaoke presenter, and am looking to buy a good all round reverb and effects pedal that will also create Harmonies without the use of an instrument.
Hi John! There are a couple of options - will you be the only one using this pedal or will multiple performers throughout the evening be using it as well?
No sweat! Good timing ;-) Well the Voicelive Play has the ability to form harmonies from the aux input from your Karaoke tracks and you'd have a killer amount of vocal effects to choose from. You can also create presets for songs that you do often :- )
I wonder how many of the new features can be backported to the VL Rack? I appreciate there may be some limitation but I'm guessing the DSPs have enough leg room. And btw, I must say, for studio work the VL Rack is such a good product in terms of ports and productivity... I'd say it's well undervalued and right now you can pick them up quite cheap.
***** We'd likely make a completely new Rack if it were to have VL3's features. There's a completely different underlying software system that would need to be implemented in order to bring VL3 features to the table.
What if I don't have an instrument though... I am going mental trying to understand how to use my helicon simply for vocal arrangements... like Kimbra for example.
There is a Roomsense option that's suppose to pick up the key of the song from a built in mic in VL, but I'm not sure how well it works. I run a bass signal in my my unit then manually change the key by hitting the root note of the key and holding the harmony button down for a couple seconds before the song starts. For minor key songs I use the relative major key for that minor. It's not the best but it seems to work and it's easier than hitting the harmony button and manually changing the key with the preset buttons. I may look closer at the roomsense and see how well that works. Good luck..
There's a TON to do with VL3 if you don't play an instrument. The only thing that's different (other than not using the guitar portion of the effects) is that you'd want to use a set key/scale when doing harmonies, instead of having it guided by guitar/keys. That's saveable in each preset, so you can set things up for each song you sing.

Hey folks, is it possible to just have 5 self made presets and quickly to go through them on the gig. That is what I need, not like 200 of them.. Is that possible ? Without too much interaction with a pedal ? :)
I'm trying to find a voice changer that's sorta sounds like megaphone. Examples Julian Casablancas, the strokes, the clash, green day. HELP ME. Like a raspy, old school radio, static sounds thanks!
aaron lemus Did you find the Roland vt3? this device has a megaphone setting. I bet you could add a few effects from a DAW or voice live and tweak it to something cool
I got this unit recently, when i tried factory presets i didn't like it very much. But when we sat down with my audio engineer and built presets from scratch in a detailed way for every song, we were really satisfied with the product. The things we found missing was, firstly tc helicon should develop a software to edit the effects in the unit, since it's hard to do it by hand from the unit. There is a third party application and we use it for it, but why third party? Even their analog pedals can be configured from pc while their fx processors cant, it's interesting. Second, we use transducer a lot, but that effect is mostly used with mix of dry vocals, it would've been nice if there was a dry/wet or mix percentage option in that effect section. Third one is routing, there are some little options for it like delay mix for lead vocal or harmonies, but can't give delay to doubling etc. And lastly it would be nice if it had make-up gain in the compressor. Still i'm very satisfied with the product, but these updates will make this unit excellent. I hope we can see these futures in a firmware update maybe?
Lise Lo You can connect directly from the XLR outputs of the TC-H device to the Mic input on the L1. Make sure you flatten the EQ's on the L1 and watch out for correct gain staging between the devices. This video tells you all about gain etc. th-cam.com/video/qq0AOtafIjs/w-d-xo.html Even though it's "Mixer Setup" it's identical to how you'd approach the L1.
Do you have a video showing the hold function, i.e., hold or sustain a harmony while singing over it? Can I also save a tailored preset for each of, lets say 100 songs? If so, can I create a name for the preset?
Mike McLenison Hi Mike, there's 500 preset slots in VL3 so you can create tons of custom presets. We usually find a preset that sounds "close" and use it as a jumping off point, just to save time. You can rename the preset (and change it's save location) during the store process.Tom shows harmony hold at about 30 secs into this video: VOICELIVE 2 - Ten Preset Showcase & vocal harmony (It's VL2 but same idea)

1) Is it possible to play guitar solo alone with the Harmoniizr , 2) What happens if the guitar not tuned well , whether the Hhrmoniizr "smart" and can get along with forgery and can give 3th voice , or get confused and make a scandal ? 3) is it can know automaticaklly what octave you play / and if it/s major or minor ? thank/s for honist ful answer .
+רפאל ונונו Hi there. Looks like it multi-posted your question so I removed the duplicates. 1. We don't have a harmonizer for the guitar, only the vocals. If you're asking if soloing on guitar will still guide the vocal harmony, it can get things wrong unless you're playing chords consistently. 2. The harmony and hardtune tuning reference is set in the unit, not based on the guitar so all the voices will sound out of tune (though they'd be tuned correctly relative to the reference tuning) compared to your guitar. You're always best to tune your instrument. You can change the tuning reference to pitches above and below 440 Hz if you need to. 3. We know major and minor, but the harmony voice is produced relative to your own voice, so it'd be up or down from that note. You can choose octave up or down voices. The chord played in various octaves doesn't make a difference, though sometimes voicing chords differently can give a different harmony voice output, which is good to keep in mind if you're running into a chord/note that doesn't produce the harmony you want.
+HELO TC- Helicon . THANK YOU FOR YOUR HONEST ANSWERI KNOW THAT "DIGITECH AND ZOOM" COMPANIES HAVE THAT FUNCTION IN THEIR MULTY EFFECTS . MABE IT/S TIME TO THINK ABOUT ME AND OTHER GUTARISTS THAN YOU
When doing the vocal to match the chords played...how is it hooked up in the back of the unit? Struggling to figure that out. Where are the cords going. Mic, guitar, in and out etc...thanks in advance.
I've Just got the VL3x, and i love the sound of that synth scale harmony (167) that Tom uses here, but i cant find it in the VL3x, nor can i figure out how to change the harmonies from human to synth. Any tips here guys? or a VL3x preset list?
Dave Red Hi Dave, here's a link to the entire VL3 factory preset bank. You'll need to be on the most recent firmware for compatibility and use VoiceSupport to import them. Hopefully it's in there. If not, it may have been a one-of that Tom made for the video. dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/40864719/VoiceLive%203%20Factory%20Presets%20Firmware%202.0.01.syx
Hello. Are the talkbox/vocoder effects comparable to the ones found on the "Talkbox Synth" and "VoiceTone Synth"? I really (really) like the sound of the Talkbox Synth. Also, can the VL3 do the equivalent of the Talkbox Synth's "Classic+" and "Modern+" settings by having the carrier signal and the vocoded robot voice play at the same time? If so, it is time for an upgrade.
Does it allow the singer to shape vocals via equalization....harmony is great, etc...however, if you want to manipulate the tone of your vocals - can you shape it with this...I think you could with your first one...but the plane has gone from a 1 propeller engine to jet engines...lots of features but for me I like to adjust / shape of tone for certain songs - it would be nice to shape prior to playing a song vs post production...cheers...
Luca Montana You can use our adaptive Tone (EQ, Compression, De-Essing, Gating) or control things manually. Tone isn't adjustable per song. That's more of a studio thing than live. When you start messing with compression/EQ on a song-by-song basis in a live setup, you're opening yourself up to a feedback can of worms. Since the unit is designed predominantly as a live unit, we're comfortable with global controls for EQ etc.
How about processing power on this new unit?Reason I'm asking is, this summer I used Voicelive Play GTX (white one) every night..First of all I noticed processing delay when I was using internal guitar processing (not going out thru) When it comes some acoustic soloing, you could literally feel that it wasn't coming out as you play, and it would threw me off on many occasions.. so I stopped using internal guitar processing and passing out from thru to my other processor.. I also noticed that when use "AutoTune Radio" when I move to next preset in the same song quickly, machine was not able to immediately quit the radio effect, sometimes looping was happening some weird stuff was happening. I was blaming on the not adequate processing power on the machine and maybe very heavy presets etc etc.. So I'm not sure if you acknowledge what I'm talking about and if you could put some input or comparison on the matter. We appreciate TC and great work being done. Thank you. Turk
Hi Aaron, you've got comment reply disabled, so I can't reply directly to your G+ comment. If you're after a single function megaphone/distortion type thing, I'd look at the VoiceTone X1 single pedal. tc-helicon.com/en/products/voicetone-x1/
So I'm looking at the VL3X right now and I'm wondering if it's the right product for me because I'm looking to use for voice acting in real time. So i'm assuming I can create presets that I can quickly switch to if need be, but here are a few things I'm wondering about: 1. Using the Harmony feature, can I create a preset that will basically have a few other voice lines that will simply in other pitches. In other words, can I create a sort of crowd effect with it, like a stadium full of chanting people? 2. How dynamic can is the timber/pitch changing? Is it possible to make a female sound like a male or vice versa? 3. Combining my above two questions, would it be possible to create a preset that would make it sound as if I were a stadium full of chanting people who're of either sexes and definitively sound like different people?
Hi Gnol, 1. Yes, you can use a combo of Doubling, Harmony and Choir to make a crowd sound. 2. You can change the "gender" and "pitch" of the voice. The further you change it, the more artificial it'll sound, but in VO that can be appealing in the right circumstances. If you're doing audio books or something that you'd want a "real" female voice from your male voice, I'd say it's probably not convincing. 3. The chanting thing is certainly possible, but it will sounds more like a general mass of people since it's all generated from your single voice. We can't do things like have people saying different words or come up and down in the mix. You could run a few passes of things into a DAW though and blend various tracks together.
I play a VL3 but i would love to have a few hints of what would make my talkbox work well...what can be the mistakes or the wrong settings preventing it to work properly
Hey Claude! The TC Helicon forum has a few great discussion board discussing exactly this! So on our website under "community" you can search and find all related discussions! Hi Tom. Please let me now how to run guitar effects at same time as vocal effects. Also how in the world do I get my wha pedal to activate through VL3. Thank you!
Hi. I know the tc helicon play has roomsense microphone. Voicelive 3 didnt. Why? I play with the band. And in one song theres no guitar and in another there is no keys. So i cant plug in one of them to make harmony. And few song has a modulation …
Hi, I am looking for a harmonizer that does NOT need a guitar or keyboard input, just for vocals alone. Any suggestions? I looked at a demo of the helicon but it sounds very robotic... Any suggestions?
Thea Kielman A lot of our devices have the ability to set key/scale manually. VoiceLive Play, VoiceLive Touch 1/2, VoiceLive 2/3, VoiceLive Rack, Harmony G-XT are all in that category.Typically the harmonies sound robotic when they're turned up too loud and/or don't have any smoothing etc. on them. It's always a tricky balance with demos to make things loud enough for everyone to hear. We normally wouldn't mix things like that in a performance.
I've been scoping these out. Can you compare and contrast these for me? ***TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony G-XT*** and the ***Roland AIRA VT-3 Voice Transformer***. It seems that the VoiceLive3 does all that the VoiceTone H. G-xt does right? Also seems to add all the functionality that the Roland A. VT-3 V Transformer does too. Any comments on that? Or does the VoiceLive3 go way beyond? And I don't think you mentioned what the Looper effect does for voice.
Hi VZ, yes the VL3 does what Harmony G-XT does and a ton more. The VT3 does it's voice transformation slightly differently than us, but VL3 can give you almost all of the VT-3 sounds, with more flexibility in combinations.
TC-Helicon Thank you! That confirms what I was thinking. It looks like the VL3 is a "tuning tool" whereas the Harmony G-XT is a preset of popular goto's.
Do you have full guitar chords running through it? I Have the TC Helicon Harmony GX-T and although it is "supposed" to be able to process harmony correctly without instrument input, I don't find it works very well at all without a guitar playing at least 3 notes of any given chord...
Josephine De Smet Playing arpeggiated notes versus playing a full chord would definitely have a negative effect on the unit's ability to process the relative harmonies correctly.
Josephine De Smet If you're starting acapella before hitting the chord it will likely be off. If it's at the beginning of the song you could try playing the full chord of the key the song is in.... this would clue the box into where you are going to start singing.
Michael Robins I'm sorry but I think that's stupid... They show in the videos ''this is what it can do'' and then it can't... It cost 700 euro's should be able to do stand alone harmony since it's a VOICElive
Hello, I'm interested in this product. I wonder if it is possible to correct voice pitch if I sing accapella ( not guitar telling the machine which chord to sing) .
+LFOVCF Yeah, that can definitely happen after a product has been available for a while. Purchase price doesn't affect warranty on a new unit, so go for the best price you can find from a dealer you trust.
It's all in the manual which is available here: www.tc-helicon.com/download/manuals/voicelive-3/tc-helicon_voicelive_3_reference_manual_english.pdf Press and hold the Layer button to access the looper.
I've got a VL3X and nothing compares to it in terms of intelligent harmonies. I just wish there was a plugin version (i.e. successor to Harmony4) to help me arrange vocal harmonies in Logic. Yes, you can send stuff out to it via USB, but it's an awkward, drawn-out workflow. If there was a plugin version, the UI would open up so much flexibility.
Hello, great video!! Just bought one yesterday. I’ve been looking for a TC Helicon MP-76 to buy but they are discontinued and I cannot find a used one anywhere. Do you have a source that could get me one? Thank you, Gregg
Baz Axe Hi Baz, what specifically are you trying to control?
TC-Helicon Just as an FYI, the manual mentions a CC channel, but that's been removed and changed to a separate incoming and outgoing MIDI channel. You can't run separate PC and CC channels.
TC-Helicon I raised a ticket with James of Support and now I'm trying to use my Roland FC-300 to offload the guitar layer for control and use the two on-board expression pedals but it appears that I will only be able to do this via sysex which I'm looking into right now. Any advice is warmly welcome.
TC-Helicon _hello,are you using compression while demonstrating? or is the mic direct to a mixer...
How do you not send your lead vocal to the PA? Thx.
@@robertlyle3806 I can’t remember the exact details as I haven’t used it in a while. But under each preset settings you have the option to adjust LEAD level. You can have it as low as zero.
Where did y buy it at buddy? Can u point at? Link? Site???
@@jkinjazz hey Johnny. Sorry mate. It was over 6 years ago. Can’t remember. But I still use it and it’s great.
i just bought an extreme. i have a problem. or im confused.
i do not have any dry output from xlr 'voice - L mono' output when 'mono output' mode in setup menu is selected.
You can have dry outpun on ‘mono output’ R line. And dont forget to change R output from guitar to vocal. Hope it helps!
This is looking better and better. I'm sold, vocally speaking. Awaiting the Guitar Closer Look for VL3, and hoping this will be as good of a live sound investment as I have been thinking so far!
Here you go! VoiceLive 3 - Closer Look - Guitar
Hello Tom!
Thank you for your great videos! :)
I have to get one of these. Great video. Now we just need a box that can translate my language to another language, and make it rhyme. Some holographic backup singers would be cool too.
+egjanuary We're working on it! ;)
So good. I have two VL3X's. Full time musician. The most comprehensive unit ever. Love it.
My saxes and flute are lovin' the VoiceLive Play. Well done!
So glad to hear this Warren! keep on rocking and getting creative with it :)

TC-Helicon What I mean is if VoiceLive 3 has the same quality and quantity of the vocal VoiceLive 2. Once again thank you.
Thanks!
I have been saving up to get a Voice Live Touch 2 but now I see the VoiceLive 3.... is there a VoiceLive Touch 3 coming out? What should I get?
I have the Voice Live 2...not sure if I can justify an new one yet, but GREAT product!!
Hello, I have problems when I turn on my pedal, the screen is left with nothing! what can i do?
Heya, I'd suggest you get in touch with support directly. They're the ones who can help with any kind of hardware issues.

ok! thanks
So I've connected the device and facing challenge with separating vocal and Guitar tracks. For example, I want 229 AC Crunch for Guitar and 130 "Arena" for vocals. However once I select 229 and go on to select 130, its changing the guitar effects. Please advise.
Why are there no videos about setting up the microphone? It’s crazy nobody talks about this.
In what way for the setup? Like doing the gain or physical setup like positioning etc?
@@tchelicon yes please
Just received my VoiceLive 3 today from Amazon but sadly neither the Guitar/Headphone or USB cable were in the box.
Hopefully they'll send them to me.

hey im between this pedal (voive live 3) or vocalist or boss pedal??? im so confuse wich would i buy???
Dnielle C DO NOT BUY THIS UNLES YOU WANT A BIG SILVER BRICK AFTER A WEEK.
where or how do I get that fixed and pedal harmony that he is singing in playing in a rock and roll band at the same time.
Start experimenting with which voicings work best with the songs as-is and then start mucking about with adding a pedal voice etc. as you learn where the stock voices fit into things.
i just bought the VL-3 but i don't see any of these settings on mine that you are demonstrating , can you tell me why
Mike Tipton By settings, do you mean presets or controls?
I ordered one of these and had to send it back because it doesn't do MIDI sync for the looper. I use an RC300 for my looper and I needed the VL3 to sync to MIDI sync so that I could sync my vocals with my RC300 loops. But it doesn't do that. Too bad! The other features are great. Hopefully they'll fix that in a firmware upgrade soon.
Hey Larry,
I was let down by the lack of MIDI Sync as well.
You can read more here: support.tc-helicon.com/forums/21570831-VoiceLive-1-2-3
I went ahead and made the jump.
No thanks
I sync mine to midi clock
It doesn’t generate clock though, although I may not be on the latest software..

Thanks :)
Great video, informative and entertaining. What a fun job to demo this amazing pedal - love the robot samples! Cheers

Hello,
How can a Saxophone player use this product?
kindly let me know
Damilola Bekes Yep sure can.
There are a lot of bugs in this equipment and usually I need to pray before every concert to not match the white screen or freeze the VL3X.
I have VL2 and was waiting for Eq and Compon VL3...but No eq no compressor on presets? amazing the basic fx for vocals!!!
Maybe in VL4 :-)
Excellent video,well explained. Thank you
i just got my voice live 3 and did the firmware update but i dont have the war games voice #300 any where in mine whats up with that any ideas ?

Question: I need something like this for vocals, but don't need any of the guitar FX, what other product that you have is the right choice for that? (I do play guitar while I sing, but I control the effects for that from my pedal board)
You can use the guitar in/thru on VL3 which will still capture guitar chords for key/scale detection but will mute all the internal guitar sounds. You'd go into the VL3, thru to your pedals and on to your amp.
Thanks!! Love your pedals!!
Hello Tom, here is Lars from Germany! I like what you are doing! Very symphatic and well done! I You ever come to Germany, I like to spend a coffee or a beer, whatever you like! You are a great talent. Nice haircut! Like mine ;-)
can the machine also be triggered by keyboard chords insted of guitarchords? So can i connect my keyboard on it? Thnx grts frm Belgium
Yes
Another great video TC. Tom and Craig rock. BTW , lovin' my 3. So glad I upgraded from the 2.
How do I turn off the guitar sound but keep it sensing chords? I want to use it with no guitar sounds from the guitar coming out. Right now I hear the guitar sound in addition to vocals from the main outputs.
Could you go further into detail about what you can do with the transducer? You mentioned something about distortion?
Yep, transducer is our effect block that does any of the distortion and/or heavily filtered EQ sounds (megaphone, radio). The caveat with transducer is that it's feedback prone, due to the gains and EQ. Is there a specific sound you're after?
+TC-Helicon
Specifically, I'm looking for a vocal pedal that can do hard and punk rock and acoustic songs where you'd mainly be using reverb.

I'm sorry keep piling up more questions, but here's a few more.
So can I record my guitar playing while using the VL3X while I have a USB Flash Drive plugged in and then sing along to it later?
Also would the VL3/VL3X work and be good for recording. I realize it's interned for live performances, but I would also like to use it for recording certain sounds with effects.
" I guess there will be a lot of unemployed back up singers"

There is not stereo input left and right for Keyboard player arranger or workstation.
Hi TC-Helicon,
Is there a rack version of VoiceLive 3?
If not, then please make it in rack mount, as I am studio guy. This is a request from your customer.
I love all your products. especially harmony effects processors.
And a pink one for me, because I like pink a lot.

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I am a karaoke presenter, and am looking to buy a good all round reverb and effects pedal that will also create Harmonies without the use of an instrument.
Hi John! There are a couple of options - will you be the only one using this pedal or will multiple performers throughout the evening be using it as well?
only me but I would probably use it for some of the singers vocals too (thanks for the quick reply)
No sweat! Good timing ;-) Well the Voicelive Play has the ability to form harmonies from the aux input from your Karaoke tracks and you'd have a killer amount of vocal effects to choose from. You can also create presets for songs that you do often :- )
which model of the Voicelive Play would be the best for my needs

I wonder how many of the new features can be backported to the VL Rack? I appreciate there may be some limitation but I'm guessing the DSPs have enough leg room.
And btw, I must say, for studio work the VL Rack is such a good product in terms of ports and productivity... I'd say it's well undervalued and right now you can pick them up quite cheap.
***** We'd likely make a completely new Rack if it were to have VL3's features. There's a completely different underlying software system that would need to be implemented in order to bring VL3 features to the table.
Bloody amazing!
What if I don't have an instrument though... I am going mental trying to understand how to use my helicon simply for vocal arrangements... like Kimbra for example.
You can set the key and scale either globally (via the Setup menu) or per-preset.
As a singing bassist, I feel this oughta be better with an additional bass mode. Harmonies that can follow just a bass note vs guitar chords.
Good luck..
where can I find the NP SYNTH2 and SYNTH SCALE HRM presets on the Extreme 3?
I've often though about getting one of these, they sound terrific...but if you cant play the guitar or keyboard I guess you cant do much with it....
Has anyone got the V3 to harmonize minor chords with Midi input yet? I can get it to Harmonixe Major chords, but it falls over on minor.

Hey folks, is it possible to just have 5 self made presets and quickly to go through them on the gig. That is what I need, not like 200 of them.. Is that possible ? Without too much interaction with a pedal ? :)

aaron lemus of course, the voice live 3 probably has a good preset for that, too
excellent product.excellent.
Hi there,
How would I connect my TC HELICON voicebox to my Bose compact L1 system?

1) Is it possible to play guitar solo alone with the Harmoniizr ,
2) What happens if the guitar not tuned well , whether the Hhrmoniizr
"smart" and can get along with forgery and can give 3th voice , or get confused and make a scandal ?
3) is it can know automaticaklly what octave you play / and if it/s major or
minor ? thank/s for honist ful answer .

Dave Red Hi Dave, here's a link to the entire VL3 factory preset bank. You'll need to be on the most recent firmware for compatibility and use VoiceSupport to import them. Hopefully it's in there. If not, it may have been a one-of that Tom made for the video.

I bought voicetone X1. But there are a lot of feedback!!! I cant use well. How can I solve this problem?
hi there how to hook up the in and out to the keyboard if it's possible
So I'm looking at the VL3X right now and I'm wondering if it's the right product for me because I'm looking to use for voice acting in real time. So i'm assuming I can create presets that I can quickly switch to if need be, but here are a few things I'm wondering about:
Hi Gnol,
TC-Helicon Ok, thank you very much.
I thought this one might be helpful for you to get started with. Good luck!

Hi Tom. Please let me now how to run guitar effects at same time as vocal effects. Also how in the world do I get my wha pedal to activate through VL3. Thank you!
OK thanks for the answer
Hey guys, how about voice compressor inside TC Helicon 3? i've bought it a few days ago, but didnt find it inside...
It looks like the VL3 is a "tuning tool" whereas the Harmony G-XT is a preset of popular goto's.
in this modern age, why cant i connect a usb cable between my vl3 and a smart phone/tablet and record live video and audio via the onboard camera.?
i have a voice live but I can't work with the harmony... it sounds so off key :'(
Do you have full guitar chords running through it? I Have the TC Helicon Harmony GX-T and although it is "supposed" to be able to process harmony correctly without instrument input, I don't find it works very well at all without a guitar playing at least 3 notes of any given chord...
Michael Robins so if you would play arpeggios? Is it supposed to work? Also sometimes I start acapella before I hit the first chord.
I want to have that effect from 167 but with me it says 5ths vocoder instead of synth scale him
It may be that Tom set a key and scale manually for that preset and then saved it with a different name.
cool can you do that?
Hello, I'm interested in this product. I wonder if it is possible to correct voice pitch if I sing accapella ( not guitar telling the machine which chord to sing) .
Yes you just have to put in the key of the song for the preset you are singing on.
WOW!!! Very cool ..Very interesting..
Salivating!
Great demo!
Rather oddly, the prices for this are all over the place, £350-589!
+LFOVCF Yeah, that can definitely happen after a product has been available for a while. Purchase price doesn't affect warranty on a new unit, so go for the best price you can find from a dealer you trust.
Thanks so much!!! :)
Tom i cant get the Lucy preset i my vlc3 extreme
I want one!
The better video about voicelive 3. Tom Lang is a great musician.
I don't even get how to loop and layer... and can't find out where to learn this! Please direct me :)
It's all in the manual which is available here: www.tc-helicon.com/download/manuals/voicelive-3/tc-helicon_voicelive_3_reference_manual_english.pdf
Press and hold the Layer button to access the looper.
Hey @noisyneil! Completely agreed, that would be a wonderful addition! Thanks for your feedback, happy singing :)
Hello, great video!! Just bought one yesterday. I’ve been looking for a TC Helicon MP-76 to buy but they are discontinued and I cannot find a used one anywhere. Do you have a source that could get me one? Thank you, Gregg
