Loving these videos. I think at the lower club level where strokes are not the best and ball depth perception is not optimal, down the line shots happen quite often and actually end up as winners. That being said, geometrical rules are always there and at most times (at least in my observation) are very effective at all levels.

The typical shot that we call "cross-court" is easier because it usually doesn't utilize the full angle that is available. A truly aggressive cross-court angle is just as risky and difficult, probably moreso. Really, what we call cross-court shots are more like middle shots because they bisect our two most aggressive directions.
