Now you gotta respect Floyd... this is a prime example of why Floyd's approach is the best... hit and not get hit!!

Floyd can be annoying, but he was certainly correct. Taking punishment is not cool, and James has clearly endured a great deal of it, but despite this, I have the utmost respect for the man they call "Lights Out."

I love James Toney!!! One of the best boxers to ever lace em up!!! Just breaks my heart hearing some fighters barely be able to string sentences together. Much respect to the legend!🥊✨️

It breaks my heart to have to watch Toney go thru this long after his career. He's a legend and definitely someone I admired when I first started boxing.

James Toney sparred alot thats one of the reasons he talks like this. He didnt like to do roadwork and just got in the ring to train for fights. He also didnt use his legs like Floyd. He stood in the pocket. I think his shoulder roll was alittle better because he relied on it far more than Floyd did. Floyd used his feet too.

Good interview but I think it’s apparent after listening to both of them talk who’s shoulder roll was better. IMO.

His speech is slurred but he's all there. Toney doesn't want anyone feeling sorry for him because I doubt he sees anything to be sorry about. Looks like he's living his best life. Much respect, Champ.

most of toneys damage rn is because he would spar everyday and he had so many fights, but at the end of the day he knew the consequences and i’m sure if he had another chance he would do it exactly the same way because he’s one of those cats that we’re just put on earth to fight.

James is a throwback fighter from the 1930/40s. Old school mentality fighting anyone anytime anywhere. Always keeps it real. Met James and he's a gentleman. Legend.

My favorite fighter of all-time. It was always hard to understand what he was saying but even moreso now. Too bad what the sport does to many fighters. He's a good example of why Floyd's "hit and don't get hit" philosophy rings true in the end.

I think there’s a misconception when it comes to counterpunching vs defense. James was an excellent counter puncher and had great defense on the inside, but he still took shots not to mention all the sparring. Floyd was also a great counter puncher with great defense he didn’t stay on the inside longer than he needed to. Both are great but James’s has more cons in the long term as we can see.

It’s so sad to see this amazing legend unable to express himself verbally like he used to.

Actually I'm still very much impressed with TBE and the most important piece of advice his father gave to him ... The less you get hit ( in the head) in This GAME ! From the womb into the hands of the doctor's and nurses and midwives , the objective is and will always remain Protect the Skull !!! Just watch the movie trailer for " Concussion" . Floyd Jr. 21years and no signs of brain damage That's remarkable ...

James is one of my top 3 favorite fighters of all time and probably the most underrated fighter in the history of the sport. He was born to fight! Tbh tho seeing him speak like this makes me heart broken, he preferred sparing to running and clearly gave his life to the sport in 90 pro fights. Hope he’s got family to care for him just like he cared and provided for his family for SO many years.
