  • How to make shoe or boot patterns using a sock. Start your historical, medieval, and Viking shoe or boot pattern with this how to use a sock and tape.     You will need:
    A friend to help.
    Writing tool: pensile is preferred.
    Two pieces of paper
    Cloth for flexible measuring tape. Taylor style.

    I use tubular bandages like the ones used for making casts and duct tape. Stuff works great especially if you have meaty calves like I do.

    Also if you can get them, get a pair of EMT/Paramedic scissors they are more safe to use than regular fabric shears.

    Thank you for this video. The notes about lines and such were helpful. I wonder if this can be done with plaster tape (or would that end up too thick & heavy?)
    Will that sort of box fit two sock molds (in case someone has one foot bigger than the other or slightly different shaped)?
    I do like that this includes the way the top of the foot is formed. I have a hard time finding shoes that fit the top of my foot properly as my foot is thicker.

    Thats awesome i just made some sockforms myself but since my feet are quite large so after i cut the form apart i cant lay it flat to trace itdo you have a trick for that? I thought about putting reliefe cuts in but then i would lose the extra surface area. Any tips would be much appreciated ❤️
