I wouldn’t say he’s uncomfortable. There’s many interviews of him in the 70s where he joked about it. When he came to Australia the second time, a journalist asked him what’s going to be different from last time and Elton said “now I’m the balding Elton John”

Elton had an old style plug transplant in the 80’s but it only gave sparse coverage even with lots of product. Then he appeared with the hair you see now which is no way the result of any transplant. Putting two and two together, unless he has access to some miracle treatment that no one else does, I’d say that was a hair system.

For the average person who can’t afford the kind of wigs Elton gets, sure. But his look fine, pretty much as quality as a specially made wig can get. I’m sure they’re absurdly expensive too, I can’t even imagine. He likes wearing them. It makes him feel good, and it’s how he wants to present himself, so what’s the harm?
