Thank you Jake 🙌🏼 been getting links sent to my inboxes all weekend and just managed to sit down and watch.
Chuffed to bits if I'm honest and of course very grateful and even flattered with the review. It's nice to hear compliments about stuff that I spent a lot of time and effort with.
Can't thank you enough, and all the best with your channel 👊🏼 🥰
Hi Matt... as per the whole buzz of the video, the thanks very much returns to you for the great music and great times you've been a big part of creating. Appreciate you dropping in and leaving this comment.
Love and Respect 👊🙏
- Jake
❤this mate education
Was great to see ya again at Carls after party hope to see ya at Amsterdamage always a pleasure
Many 90's brothers & sisters down under, bring it southern hemisphere @thedjslipmatt
Hi Matt I love your work I just didn’t know how many tracks were yours!! As I said in another reply, your tracks are basically Carl Cox whole set at Fantazia Big Bang ‘93 cheers
I wish I had a time machine. RIP all my old raving friends who are not here anymore. I'm 52 now and I'm still HARDCORE.
big 50 me big up
I'll drink to that 🙏
Can i come for a ride in your time machine please..
Crowd Control remix was his greatest achievement. Brilliant remixer. Brilliant Dj . Brilliant producer full stop.
👊
Slipmatt is a legend... He's been around a long time. Slipmatt along with Stu Allan both the Godfathers of the rave scene... Shame Stu Allan is no longer with us. A true legend gone to soon. RIP.❤
For all who liked happy hardcore in 1990s when they were young, will always remember the music, and your sets
Amazing how you guys can put music together
Your music vocabulary is very interesting, in how you describe the music you play.
👊❤️
Breaking Free, loved by Jungle and Happy Hardcore ravers. Round of applause indeed.
😃 Hardcore breaks between 1991 and 1994 is in my opinion the peak of the rave scene, a golden era combining both 4 to the floor kicks with crusty breaks. Dj Slipmatt crossed genres and unified the people in the dance. This is why Slipmatt will always be my number 1 👊
Goosebumps from these records 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
D J Slipmat was my intro into hard core rave in the early 90'S, Had just brought my first BMW E30 325i, filled the boot with amplifiers and subwoofers and just cruised to his music, happier times 😊😊
😄😎 the big sound systems in the boot and on the parcel shelf... cars were a mini club back then
Slipmatt knocked out some absolute banging tunes but Smd 1 has gotta be 1 of my favourite tracks from the 90s. Great channel that took me right back to the best times in oy life, even though the memories aren't as clear as i would like. 🤣🤣
Yeah classic sounds mate for sure.
Glad it blasted you back for a little while 😁👊
I just wonder what the scene would have looked like without Matt in it ? He shaped so much, and it panned out a lot along with his vision tbh in terms of music, and just being one of the best DJ's to ever do it. So thankful he's still around.
Yeah big influence 👊
As was the next DJ I have lined up...coming soon 😎
First rave i went was pandemonium in 94. Slipmatt was playing that night and a life long raver was born 🤪 absolute legend 🎵🎶🕺🎶🎵 great video 👌👏👏👏
Thanks for the feedback and for being here 👊🙏
Some pure gold tracks. I'm currently running to many of these... the modern day rave is fitness!
We used to dance the equivalent of a marathon to these from 9pm to 6am 😆
Amazing! Shared this with my son (who loves punk hardcore, unfortunately). However he gave it nuff respect ❤
Well if that's not a credit to this music I don't know what is 😊👊❤️
I was 15 in 1993, i used to buy my vinyl from Rythm Nation in doncaster!! slipmatt was a big favourite. Thanks for keeping the rave scene alive guys!!
Slipmatt was (and is) an absolute legend. I was 10 years old in 1993 and hearing SMD1 changed my life. I was hooked. ; )
👊
I have a demo tape of Slipmatt & Lime from the late 80s with a rapper MC Valentine and they were excellent scratch DJ's.
Upload it bro @@maccagrabme
Tunes!!!
Please be playing your old skool in old folks homes in 30 years time 🤣 *Play it to the end* ☠️
Absolutely 😄👍
BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE ,JUST HEARING THESE TUNES AGAIN
Just found this channel sat down listened to tracks i haven't heard in decades and bought tears to a 57yr old
Great memories of experiences and lost friends came flooding back .
Thank you jake .
Ah mate...that's both poignant and beautiful.
Love to you my friend ❤️🙏
Thank you for sharing my journey with me... and for sharing those sentiments 👊
yeah not wrong mate, great times and lost friends mate. Sounds daft but we were there during a massive music revolution
Absolutely true mate.
Something to be very grateful for 🙏👊
@@stevencox1700 ha 😆 5 hour video 😋👍
I'm 46 now and this takes me back to being in school and buying my first set of separate system
Excellent 👍🙂
Doing 46 this year in October, time does fly, just wish sometimes we could fly back and visit. So many good vibes. Just keep havin'it ! Was into the hard house and trance later (Camden Palace@Peach) but kept all the music I ever bought, couple of the UD slipmatt specials still knocking around
@@78Ratje 👊❤️
@@rave-vinyl-reminiscence Thnx mate, I seriously appreciate your effort. I am so grateful to be able to find people like yourself on TH-cam, managed to find a few channels with recordings of the London pirate stations (early garage mostly) up till 99, you can't imagine the smiles 😜
@@78Ratje Yeah it's lovely hey...
I've been blown away by the energy, the positive attitude and the love here in the comments 🙏
That took me right back. Just turned 50. Clubbed and MC'd from 91 to 97. Adelaide, Australia 🇦🇺
Lovely 👊
P.S Thank you 🙏
Hi ya, I just wanted to say thank you so much for these videos. I'll be 47 this year, I was introduced to hardcore proudly in 93 when I was 16. Sometimes I can't remember what I did yesterday but these tunes take me straight back to the best early music years of my life. I still love the oldskool vibes to this day. These videos are greatly appreciated.🙏 I've found some amazing mixes on SoundCloud.
Ah mate, what a total pleasure it is to be sharing these tunes and my feelings for them with you ❤️
Thanks for the feedback and cheers for being here.
Great channel bro, keep it up ! Memories come flooding back!!🙂🙂
It's a joy to share with souls like you who appreciate it mate 🙏❤️
New episode tomorrow morning at 8am 👊
You have summed up everything I feel about Breaking Free and Hear Me! I genuinely consider the bass drop on BF as one of if not the best on any track… Absolutely T for Tremendous!
Ah mate 👊😎
Glad we shared that. It's breath taking hey !!
Terrific video, thanks. Really took me back!
👊❤️
Total legend
Just found this channel and its bringing back a sh*tload of great memories. 55 now and spent a lot of time mashed up in the early 90s
That's the thing that's bringing more joy than anything...the sharing of memories and reminiscing of good times.
Thanks for being here 👊
XL was an amazing label back then. Great times, good tribute to the main man!
Yeah some great tracks on XL 👍👊
I'm glad I was alive when the Sanctuary in Milton Keynes was open, had so many amazing nights in that place.
Slipmat was my OG bootlegs when I was a kid. Love it. Thanks man.
Classics.....I was around 15/16yrs old at that time, On a Raga Tip, completely lost in life at that age, brings back so many memories, now still lost in life but enjoying a beer & SMD 1 A, I forgot how good he was then.........listening from Indonesia :)
Ah ...welcome to you from all the way over in Indonesia 🙏❤️
Lost in life at 16....yeah man I remember that.
Trying to find your way.
Lost still.... I resonate with too.
I think the only real difference is that as you get older, wisdom can help to realise that perhaps there never was an actual 'way' to find 🤷
Just whatever meaning feels right in your heart ❤️❤️❤️
31.41 … wow another one !.
Goose Bumps !.
What an innovative channel, excellent presenting and fantastic music. I have to say, thank you for your words on SL2 Hypnosis Remix, there is something magical and dreamlike about that tune, it has captivated me since I first heard it. I absolutely love it and have been enchanted by it since 1992 (the magical year)! Fantastic channel!
Ah I'm glad you resonate with those feeling 🙏
Thanks for the comment 👊
Thanks for the trip down memory lane! These tunes formed a big part of the soundtrack to my life back in the early 90's! Rave on!
Lovely 🙏
Love all these I didn’t know anything about Slipmatt apart from his rave sets. The tunes you played are basically Carl Cox’s Fantazia Big Bang set!!
Slipmatt, so much to answer for.
Just lovin these dips you make into hardcore history. Definitely hear some interesting stuff here as long it doesnt get too sirupy.
Thanks for the effort🙏🎶❤
👊❤️
Wow thank you TH-cam algorithm for suggesting this - I started listening to slipmatt during university with secondhand mixtapes. This brings back some big memories of over 30 years ago. Big thank you for this video ❤
Very welcome my friend.
Thanks for being here 👊
This brings back l memories. Haven’t heard these tunes for years. Almost 50 now and had to start doing the dance with the tunes again. Love it. Thankyou and a big Thankyou to slipmatt
😊👊
Breaking free ! What a tune
Amazing hey 😎
Protracker, Octamed and Amiga spring to mind
Quality video, slipmatt is a legend
Thank you ...and yes 👊
So nice to hear someone else enthuse about parts of these tracks like I do! It normally falls on deaf ears with friends/family. Check out Slipmatts podcast ' World of Rave', its flippin brilliant too!
Keep up the good work Jake , enjoying these vids.
Hi mate, thank you for that. Yes not everybody appreciates the passion pointed in the direction of this genre. I will check out the podcast. Cheers for the heads up 👊
We had a pirate station here in the West Mids in the early/mid 90s called ‘Exile FM’. It was BRILLIANT! It started on Friday evenings and played non stop until early hours Monday morning.
They played all of this stuff. Naughty Naughty, Vibes and Dougal, Wishdoctor so on. The only place you could hear it at that time.
I’m nearly 48 now & still love it!
Great times when you could turn the radio on and hear the stuff every week hey 😎👊
DJ Seduction - My Own (DJ Slipmatt Remix) one of his best
Yes...I have that 👍
Beefed it up nicely didn't he.
SL2 - DJ’s Take Control. What an absolute claaaaasic! What a banging tune! Big up oi oi 🔥☝️
Total 👊
If I recall the tune and slip Matt appeared on Dance energy back in the day with the infamous Normski👍💯👍what the hell became/ happened to Normski???
@@maverick5039 Ha ...crikey... yeah
I got a copy from a little charity shop in fleetwood whilst on holiday to Blackpool.didnt even know what SMD was although I was into the music.needless to say when I got home and played it had a big grin on my face!😃
Nice catch 😎
Wow, takes me back to my Diehard days. ☮️💟☯️☢️🤝🏻
😊😎
I had the absolute pleasure of chatting to him at the ultimate 90's rave at Ingliston in Edinburgh. What an absolute gent and humble man. absolute LEGEND
Yeah everything I've seen of him, he comes across as a very down to earth guy.
@@rave-vinyl-reminiscence I only had like a 5-10 min chat before he went on, but yes he’s a very down to earth guy with no “airs or graces about him”
89-93 crew thank you so much man that track noise been trying to find that out since 😂 you know how it is you just hear bits of tracks in a mix respect 😎👊❤
Excellent 😊
That's a great tribute to one of the masters. Thank a lot mate for sharing!!!
Thanks pal...cheers for journeying with me 👊
Brilliant remember all those productions and it brings a flood of raving memories back from my youth. As did most I listened to hardcore in my Teen years growing up with my mates on the streets getting up to no good and eventually as we grew older we went to the raves and experienced the nights . What memories ! As I got older I swayed more towards House music then and came away from the underground sound and experienced Ibiza. I still love house music to this day but I still respect that these underground sounds led me to all the great dance music times and experiences I’ve had in my life ! 😃🙌🏻👍🏻🎶
Very similar journey for me mate...I gravitated towards house after 95
Breaking Free still gives me chills! What a tune!
Sh#t hot 😎
In Complete Darkness Slipmatt remix for me, I have only heard it a handful of times in all the raves I've been to. Lose my shit eveytime
Mate, just discovered your channel. I absolutely love that era of 91-94. Those SMD plates are absolute bangers, you're spot on there! Good luck with the channel, subscribed 👍
Thank you 🙏😎
You are very welcome here my friend 👊
Mate it's 10 past 1 in the morning and I just found this video. I gotta catch up with the rest now. You OK to take the blame when I ring in in the morning? 😂 Wicked. Looking forward to Seduction, I'm sure you're working round to that one! 🤜🤛
😂 that's a late start on a such high energy music vids mate !
Seduction...I'm going to definitely have to revisit and do that video properly some time in future. I did a lot of his stuff in my very first video...which already feels over basic and falling way short of the necessary respect needed to be paid to John.
Straight subscribed 🎉❤
Thanks for being here 👍👊
DRUM BEATS WAS MY FAV. I WAS LUCKY ENUFF TO GET MY 7" ON A RAGGA TIP SIGNED BY SLIPMAT ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO WENT HE LAST PLAYED AT THE VENUE PENZANCE CORNWALL, EVEN GOT PHOTO TAKEN WITH HIM WITH THE SIGNED COPY
Thank you for this, brought back a lot of memories. Sandman, dj Rinse masive respect to
Slipmat, oi oi
That's great to hear.

Just discovered this channel. Love it. This cat knows his stuff, and his passion and energy are deeply infectious-as is his obvious love for the scene.
Really good to have you here with us for the journeys mate 👊😊
Great stuff , Love the Sterns flyers on the wall , What a venue that was , I went many times loved the underground room with the techno , Was a regular at the Rhyrhum station back then too ,Great times , Thanks for the trip back in time , Oioiiiii
Sterns was by far the best club for hardcore, especially the interdance weekend's, biggin up the 91/92 hardcore mandy crew.
Oi oi x
Yep...Sterns was THE place ❤️
I'm going to do a video in future about Sterns...my memories...and some of the tunes I connect with the place.
100%
The recurring theme sample you mention that is found in a lot of the SMD tracks is an effect called “cyclic timestretch” that you could do on Akai samplers that were mainly used to make these tunes. You’ll notice it’s the same breakbeat used in the track, except processed using the timestretch feature which makes it sound all metallic and echoey. There’s a good video here on youtube of Bizzie B explaining how to do it on the Akai sampler.
There ya go 😄...thank you mate.
I'll have a look for that video 👍
That Akai sampler is a bit of kit and is still used today.
Definitely created some respect for Slipmat. Thanks for making this unusual vid!
🥰🪬👽
😊🙏👊
Windy Miller time 4 trumpton who remembers ❤
Ha 😆
The best mix (studio) of any DJ I ever heard was 'Slipmatt Vol.3'... Never forget going to Soul Man records to in my sisters Chevette on a hot mid June day in 1991, coming back with some vinyl and hearing Moby Go for the first time... Bought vol's 1 & 2 after that, they were equally as good.... GOAT hardcore Dj IMO for both selection and using of skills in just the right measure (not to excess). Legend!
Cheers for sharing mate 👊
I hear you about the importance of a balance between good DJ skills and not being excessive. It's very possible to actually do TOO much and detract from the beauty of the tunes themselves.
Vol. 3 Would love to hear that. I have one which starts with SMD 1 then 'The Void'. Double cassette and I had to find every tune from it! great mix. But mine was from 93.
Just found this vid on my recommendations, very happy to have stumbled across it. Thank you. Lots of memories.
Glad you found us 👊❤️
Hope you enjoy the vids and the memories 👊
Dj slipmatt is the daddy. Best dj on the planet imo. Aint nobady that get tunes in the mix as quick or as on point as mr nelson. His dreamscape 8 set is unbelievable for how many tunes he plays in that hour n a half. And its all vinyl none of this pressing sync bollox. As for the smd series all are masterpieces but for me the b side of smd3 is the one, its just a unique track nothing else sounds like it.
Yes mate fair play 😊
Discovered your channel tonight, fully subscribed now... Looking forward to going thru your previous videos 🎉🎉
Welcome to the channel 👊🙏
Great vid, massive tunes 🎵🔊🔥❤️ loving the sterns flyers in the background too 🤩
Cheers mate 👊
And yep... Sterns was THE place ❤️😎
@rave-vinyl-reminiscence absolutely! I still collect the flyers, very nearly completed the entire collection! 👍😀
Nice work 😎
what treat that was, thank you very much indeed! BIG love
Lovely mate thanks 😊
Cheers for being here 👊
Jake,
I’m from 🇬🇧, on a business trip , back tomorrow …
Listening to this in 🇩🇪 , what a fantastic bit of work you have done here ,
Very informative & a great listen / watch.
You have obviously spent a lot of time listening to Slipmatts music.
More D.J’s pls .
How about RSR - Ramos
Billy Hunter
Force and styles
Dougal
To name a few.
All the best with your incredible channel brother,
M (South West crew !.)
Hi mate, thanks for the lovely comment and support 👊
Other DJ's definitely to come in future...as always, as much as can be reflected by the records I've bought and loved over the years 🙏😎
Thanks Jake,
Can’t wait…
I’m hooked , can’t wait for the next video.
Loved the Comment from Mr Slip Matt himself,
I reckon you should try and get a DJ In - and a Q & A with them ,
Much love ,
Cheers mate, yes it was quality of Matt to chime in.
Been lucky here so far with that...Mike Wells (Force Mass Motion) and Basement Phil also came into the comments on their videos.
It's a lovely community 🙏❤
Great Video 😊
👊
@@rave-vinyl-reminiscence Many Thanks 😊
Damn, that SL2 Remix of Psychosis just dropped out of my shelves and broke in two. While it was a clean record I had no choice but to bin it. When I looked it up to rebuy it I realized it´s out of reach pricewise. Still have it on a sampler but still gutted. Nice little watch here and I´m always in awe how well you looked after your tunes, they all look so new!
Oh mate ...that's painful 😢
There's a reasonable condition copy here for £25 including postage -

I have cared for my vinyl pretty well. More so in recent years than back in the 90's.
I've had to replace a fair number of them since the 90's to be honest.
Best era ever my raving days thank you soo so much for bring it back slipmatt was awesome 🙌 🎉
Thanks for coming along on the journey with me 🙏
Great upload. Smiling all the way through.. nice 1.
That's the ticket 😊
Yes! Slipmatt is bad ass im nearly 40 and had his tapes as a teen back in the 90s
Loved all these tracks back in the day and had them all on Vinyl as well.
His remix of in complete darkness was always great.
Some of his later remixes were really bangers as well,
Always loved his remix of take me away,
And also a good memoory for me was Dj Demo - You're Mine (Slipmatt Remix)
I love it, takes me back to my first few years of DJing 1992 and 1993. These records were so hard to find back then especially being from Florida but On the Ragga Tip was absolutely insane tune. LFG. These were the beginning and precursor to all the amazing Breaks, Jungle and Drum and Bass. I was familiar with all of these hardcore tracks but had so little few of these amazing tracks. But they influenced so much that came after it.
Slipmatt is an absolute legend and quite rightly labelled the Godfather of Rave.
Keep up the good work on this channel, love it!
True indeed 👍
Thank you for the feedback and for being here 👊
Wow just realised how old I am
Memories flooding back rave on
Ha 😆 Time and tide wait for no man as they say 😬
Holy cow, what a trip down memory lane. Love it 🙌🙌🙌♥️
Cheers for coming along for the ride 👊
Slipmatt is a legend and will be forever
Great video, great music, great DJ ☮❤☯👊🖖
👊
From oldskool to 4 beat hardcore so many great tracks 👍
I feel your energy bro. We all know the samples in these tracks but it was not about tearing stuff apart. Music became turbo charged in the early 90’s without losing credibility. Piano, drums and a healthy dose of MDMA. Wow. Glad I was there not to miss it. RIP Stu Allan. Glad I not a Ketamine kid of today. What a waste of a life 🤷🏻♂️✌️
👊🙏
This has inspired me to blow the dust off my decks and get all these tracks back out again
That's literally the best feedback and the loveliest things I could hope to come from the videos mate 🙂❤️
Enjoy...and thanks for sharing 👊
23.08 …. TUNE !,
Takes me right back to 93/94 !.
First time finding the channel and being educated on tunes Ive heard but never named. I found, the longer I watched, the more interested in you presenting and your explanations, than the tracks. Bravo.
That's lovely feedback my friend.. thank you 🙏
Brilliant! Hardcore You know the Score!!
👊😊
Respect mate, good times and amazing memories 🙏💥🕺🏽🥳👊🏽
Straight back 😊👊
Big smile on my face that's all have to say.
Lovely 👊😊
Wicked video, I really appreciated this, thnaks for putting this together. "Hear Me" and "Breaking Free", two of mt all time favourite tracks from Slipmatt. I often thought Kevin Lemon D got his inpiration from listening to him! You can hear Violent Killa in "Breaking Free" easy peasy (for me anyway!). Have a top weekend, sir! Where you from, what you on...? Easy!
Thanks mate 👊
"Where ya from?..what you on?" 😂
Oldskool legend slipmatt always saw him lots in the 90.s live 👍
Fantastic!! Pop-up 👆 Brilliant and well presented Shout out. Memories also knowing.. John n Matt Local guys (Loughton) Back in the day,, Both always had time in the street so down to earth and steaming in as SL2 early days. Crazy really as you wouldnt know!! That they were smashing it up behind the bedroom door.Fantastic✊ Memories myself Saturday mornings train to Tottenham court rd walk round to Soho spend the day in thoses amazing record shops..Red records Black market records so-forth finding the best Tunes 🎶 A young 51 these days admittedly i did prefer the earlier stuff 89-92. All the Best!! Thanks for sharing!! Keep up the good work.keeps us all young still. 😎 👍
Thanks for sharing mate 👍
Yes we were spoilt back then with those record shops. I'd love to go back in time and be there, pulling those amazing tracks out of the pile and standing in that line of dj's all checking out their next purchases.. on the row 1210's against the wall.
@@rave-vinyl-reminiscence Absolutely right Fabulous!! There was I think 4 possibly 5 Record shops there with as you said 12,10s Full-affect spining track after track.. Banging tunes amazing atmosphere. Saturday was my day 🤜 Being young a little bit intimidated sizing up who was purchasing what funny as alot of these tracks hadn't really hit the pirate station then a week later you was all going mental to them 😂 Surrounded by these pirate radio DJ,s I was a little crafty anything that sounded banging I used to point 👉 and say can I have that track. Couldn't wait to get home with my carrier bag full again of amazing talent. Thanks again!! Subscribed 🔥 All the best to you Mr 🙏 😎
Mate this is a right blast from the past, must say well done and great format. You actually got me dancing in the living room 🕺🏼👍👍
