@@rave-vinyl-reminiscence Great to see someone NOT using a Pioneer! Loved that Tango Selection. He created some Amazing Music. You should do a Rob Playford one. Incredible Producer.
Never knew his dad was Gordon Giltrap ! I have been a DJ since 1980, and played through the acid house and rave era. I also play acoustic guitar and sing, and Gordon is a fantastic musician. Tango was also fantastic in his own way. I have fond memories of hearing his tunes, hammered by Squid & Scotty, two DJ's on DanceFM 105.8 from Sheffield, a pirate station BITD 1993. Along with DH Hype tunes, F Project, and Bizzy B, the music was just an absolute full on attack of hardcore goodness, without any cheese.
Yes Jake Quality 👏 And you played a decent copy of positive chaos .....don't know if you remember our text convo on discogs a while back 😅 like you it's one of my most prized and expensive plates......Still after a few of the others you played .....Respekt m8, look forward to streaming the full mix in my car one morning on my way to work at max volume 😂 Whats your next episode I wonder 🤔 gonna take a big one to follow that
Hello mate...yes I remember our conversations about that release 👊😊 You'll definitely enjoy the full mix at high volume in your car...it's a cracker 😎 Not sure what's up next really...🤔 I tend to just let inspiration take me wherever it does. Cheers for tuning in again.
Thanks mate 👊 I'm guessing you mean the 'Project 1' track on the flip side of the Tango Project release? I played the B Side 'Feel Free'. If so...yes, that's a great track too.
met tango a couple times. he was a tattoo client of mine. humble. didn't brag of his fame. loved doing it tho. deep into his later years. was a nice guy
Long shot here. Looking for more details (or even link!) of a Ratty and Tango mix around 1993. The opening tune is Tales from the Darkside and during the break, the MC shouts out a couple of times 'Do you remember Castlemorton!' It was one of my favourite tapes back in the day and never been able to find it since 🙄
ahh mate, this one is a percy...they say never meet your heroes, but jamie was next level, me and my music partner became close with him over the last decade until he passed, massive influence to our music even prior to knowing him, and my last memory of talking to him was about how all of us got signed to the same reinforced release (enforcers 17/18) and we were all just as excited and proud of each other. i had to ask him, why was revelations never released, got the answer in full, not for me to share but thats the type of bloke he was, absolute class act, really miss him and his music because he was putting out serious shit in modern times.
Thanks for sharing that mate. An honour to be able to say you knew him and were on a level. Respect to you for the confidence maintained around elements of that story 👊❤️
@@rave-vinyl-reminiscence love your channel and more than happy to share my thoughts on him. I think like with a lot of artists, we all have our time and place when they made an impact to us individually. That fucking Violator record is insane lol
Great stuff, Tango's productions will always be legendary, a great talent... Ratty and Tango were a superb duo, The Final Conflict is just unbeatable for the darkside era...
Listened through properly. Pleasing to see ive got most of your selection 😅. Dont have the Foul Play remix. Should maybe raid Discogs for that. Do you have his Controllin' tune from 94. That's a killer tune and showed he was evolving his style towards to the jungle sound. I found out just recently he co produced Black on Formation, which i was thought was by solely SS. That's a seminal DnB tune and just proves how talented, adpatable and pioneering Tango was!!!
Very interesting mate cheers. Yeah he was very broad on his talents. I don't have that Controllin' track...I'll check it out 👍 Glad you're gonna get on Discogs for that Foul Play number though Ollie...that's a must have 😁👊
@rave-vinyl-reminiscence loving all the comments you're getting on this. Question for you Jake. What did you move towards after 94....you've hinted that jungle wasn't your thing. Inclined to agree there, but then the No U Turn lot really shifted DnB on to an era I loved. Did you go towards another genre l like Trance or just leave it altogether?
I'm gonna answer that question by pointing towards the last of the five 'Pick n Mix' episodes I did a while back.. In the 95 episode I talk about what direction I took at that point. th-cam.com/video/-KHiDd_3fPs/w-d-xo.html
@rave-vinyl-reminiscence ah yeah oops i did watch that vid and straight forgot lol. Gat Decor is in my top 10 tunes ever! Thought it was older than 96 tbh. So you went to house/trance it seems! I was a bit torn in around 99 between very dark dnb and the harder edge of trance and also techno (bit of a random combo of interests lol).....I've done a couple of random mixes of the tunes I got in these genres recently. Fascinating hearing your journey mate. At the end of the day, the original hardcore was the start!!! 👌
@@The_Knackered_Raver ah cool no worries 😁 yeah I very much moved over to house and trance. Actually by 2000 I was off on one with guitar playing more than my records...so left it all completely for a long time.

Tales from the darksideeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Loved this, thank you need more :)
😎👊
Cheers man took me right back banging tunes 🎉🎉🎉
👊❤️
Yes Jake mate!!! You did the Tango vid!! Thanks for this. He was a trus legend. You're doing some important work here and some great insight about him. Did you see that Ratty interview on THOH podcast where he talks about how he met him? Thanks again mate, keep em coming.😊
Cheers Ollie 👊
Yeah the Ratty interview was really good. I love that story about him standing down below the DJ box with a copy of his tune...
@@rave-vinyl-reminiscence yeah that was it. Amazing.
Hey jake . Hope you good mate .. Nice tribute to the man like Jamie/Tango..
much respects .
I'm good mate thank you 👊
Cheers for tuning in and commenting ❤️
Tango was a badman! Got quite a few of his tunes on vinyl too!
On a jungle tip, his remix of Hyper-On-E's 'Disturbance' is fucking amazing.
R.I.P Tango
Yeah that's a great tune. Very dark.👊
For sure....funny was listening to his remix of Foul Plays -: "Open your mind " earlier yesterday almost forgot about disturbance 🔥🔥🔥🔥👌🏾
Just solid bangers❤️
Love the Gemini Mixer. Great wee unit.
Yeah it's served me very well...however, just after recording that set it finally packed up 🙁
I bought a new mixer last week...another very simple little unit, so you'll see that in the next vid 👍
@@rave-vinyl-reminiscence Great to see someone NOT using a Pioneer! Loved that Tango Selection. He created some Amazing Music. You should do a Rob Playford one. Incredible Producer.
@@lextalonis839 I'm trying to remember what make my new one on order is now...hope it's not Pioneer 😂
Yeah I didn't know they were related either until quite recently.
I'm a guitarist myself so agree with what you said there about Gordan.
Yes Jake Quality 👏 And you played a decent copy of positive chaos .....don't know if you remember our text convo on discogs a while back 😅 like you it's one of my most prized and expensive plates......Still after a few of the others you played .....Respekt m8, look forward to streaming the full mix in my car one morning on my way to work at max volume 😂 Whats your next episode I wonder 🤔 gonna take a big one to follow that
Hello mate...yes I remember our conversations about that release 👊😊
You'll definitely enjoy the full mix at high volume in your car...it's a cracker 😎
Not sure what's up next really...🤔
I tend to just let inspiration take me wherever it does.
Cheers for tuning in again.
Remember hearing Tales from the Darkside at The Edge for the first time..Great memories..RIP Ledge
😎❤️
18:33 "What the absolute shit is going on mode" ...lol Brilliant :D
🥴👊
Amazing set, I was expecting to hear "Tango Project" though, that track was played a lot near me, just you need a mortgage to buy it these days!
Thanks mate 👊
I'm guessing you mean the 'Project 1' track on the flip side of the Tango Project release? I played the B Side 'Feel Free'.
If so...yes, that's a great track too.
Legend #FibreOptic crew!
Yes please 🎉 thank u
Amazing mix! What memories. ; )
😊❤️
You'll love the full mix when it comes 👊
Tunes tunes tunes!!!
😊
met tango a couple times. he was a tattoo client of mine. humble. didn't brag of his fame.
loved doing it tho. deep into his later years.
was a nice guy
Nice story mate...thanks for sharing ❤️🙏
Great job mate #RIPtango
👊
Absolutely the best tunes from back in the day!! The only one you missed was essence of aura & Tango-Destiny
Yep I have that beast of a track 😎
Saving that for live DJ sets coming up 😊❤️
Sneaky, I’ll look forward to hearing them. Have fun with your old skool dj bookings !
@@gordoncooper157 cheers mate 👊
This is gonna be good R.I.P Tango ... He will be in the VIP lounge in the sky...Seatbelt fastened let it rip Jake
🙏❤️
You can see the ribs on the vinyl where the craziness comes❤
Tango 🔥
😊❤️
An acupuncture needle is good for opening up a skipping groove on a record. Will still leave some noise but it wont mess up the mix anymore.
Thanks mate...I might have a little play with a fine needle
Great job
Thanks Ron 👊
Dance Planet - Pure Energy live PA
👍😎
That mixer looks out of the 90's as well...Basic as you like ha! 😆
😁 just how I like em 👍
Long shot here. Looking for more details (or even link!) of a Ratty and Tango mix around 1993. The opening tune is Tales from the Darkside and during the break, the MC shouts out a couple of times 'Do you remember Castlemorton!' It was one of my favourite tapes back in the day and never been able to find it since 🙄
Fibre Optic night at Quest Wolverhampton July 92 was epic.
👍
Hit the like button people, whats up with ya
Gone lightweight?😁
😁👊
I had no idea how to set up the decks. It drove me absolutely crazy
🤪👊
ahh mate, this one is a percy...they say never meet your heroes, but jamie was next level, me and my music partner became close with him over the last decade until he passed, massive influence to our music even prior to knowing him, and my last memory of talking to him was about how all of us got signed to the same reinforced release (enforcers 17/18) and we were all just as excited and proud of each other. i had to ask him, why was revelations never released, got the answer in full, not for me to share but thats the type of bloke he was, absolute class act, really miss him and his music because he was putting out serious shit in modern times.
@@garrybynon6080 yeah nice mate 🙏
As for the Violator track...it's a absolute brute innit 😈
@@garrybynon6080 Good to have you here by the way. Cheers for tuning in.
Great stuff, Tango's productions will always be legendary, a great talent... Ratty and Tango were a superb duo, The Final Conflict is just unbeatable for the darkside era...
Yes indeed 😎👊
Man I treated my records so badly as a kid. Makes me ill just thinking about it.
😂 I know mate... I feel your nausea
I don't have that Controllin' track...I'll check it out 👍
Glad you're gonna get on Discogs for that Foul Play number though Ollie...that's a must have 😁👊
@rave-vinyl-reminiscence loving all the comments you're getting on this.
Missing my favourite track of his - understand. Drum breakdown
Yeah that's a beauty mate 👊❤️
Not really heard much of tango but my old bedroom raver mate got me into ratty going have check tango out
Hope you enjoy the tunes 👊
I lost so many good records by loaning them out back in the day 😭😭
Yeah mate same as that 🥴
Some other tango classics that could have been part of it.
Tango - you and me (uplifting piano)
Tango - factor 5 (classic 92 hardcore)
Tango and Lee - Legendary vol 3 (dark sinister strings)
Tango and fallout - revelations. (Never released and arguable one of his best. The tune is just amazing and the beats when they drop- wow)
Tango - think twice (rolling beats)
Tango - Spellbound (beautiful drum and bass)
Tango - understanding (the ahem drop is superb)
Tango unreleased - PA song - (link th-cam.com/video/JPxhkLDNQss/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6o7iUrLVgRzRWzPv
th-cam.com/video/bYifR9v1oT8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dptPaWw80LcD36wH (better version Robbie dee on the mic)
- just brilliant. Dark, sinister, beautiful. The sound of the midlands in 93/94
Next one should be a tribute to Doc Scott, Ray Keith and Nookie. Those three have some of the All time classics through this period.
Yeah some blinders there mate 👊
Hey man! Question, what is your intro song?
If you check the description, all tracks are listed with timestamps .
But the intro tune is -
Tango & Ratty - The Killer
