  • Moving from Ghana to Uk - A Ghanaian's shocking experience in UK
    My name is Mickey... I am one of those ambitious African youths who thought building your dreams in Ghana and Africa as a whole was near impossible so migrated to UK in search of greener pastures.
    But in 2019, with the launch of the Year of Return; an initiative by the government of Ghana intended to encourage African diasporas to come to Africa (specifically Ghana) to settle and invest in the continent; I was proved wrong...at least so it seemed on TH-cam.
    Finally, the hidden potentials of Ghana, the former Gold Coast and the gate way to Africa has been unearthed. But then I started making videos about Belize and the sort of messages and comments I've been receiving from local Ghanaians youths has filled my head with a lot of questions.
    So in this video I share the shocking experience of a Ghanaian living in UK.

    Damn that was hard to listen to.
    As someone born and raised in the UK I’m disgusted that happened here and so glad the authorities let your friend stay.
    It’s hard to believe, as someone so disappointed and upset with what has happened to the UK over the last few years, that Ghana is so bad anyone wants to leave to live here. But I do believe it.
    It’s so hard to work here and do well now. And I would like to know which UK shop he was working for!

      The thing is, there are opportunities in Ghana but one need capital to exploit them...which can be a bit difficult to raise. Though there are few problems in UK, it is good for raising capital (with discipline ) and catching new ideas.

    An absolute disgrace, absolutelyrics disgusting how this man was treated. This should not happen, someone trying to create a better life for himself. Mickey great platform to bring this to light. Keep up the good work my brother.

      Thanks very much bro for the feedback. You are very right. This shouldn't happen but unfortunately there are more stories like this out there where people take advantage of undocumented migrants.

      Wow...a very interesting submission. Is there a way I can communicate with you away from here. I have a lot of questions about whether it is a good idea to grow old in the west or to move back to our home country. This is for my personal education. Is it something you will be interested in? Thanks for your comment.

    Aahhhhh...Mickey & wifey, you've certainly made my day!!!😂😂😂 I didn't grow up in a compound hse but in the gov't estates. Hoever my hubby did, & I also had friends & cousins from such homes. I must say I could really relate your experiences to most of my extended family members. I just mentioned to my daughter that l bet you were childhood sweethearts and hey presto!!😂 U said it.🤦🏾‍♀️ WOOOW!! I'm far older than yourselves, but our experiences weren't that far-fetched from yours. 😂😂😂. V well done for doing this video. Perhaps, you shd consider going to the estates too like Kwadaso, Asawase, North & South Suntreso & others, to show how those communities also lived. We also had our own idiosyncrasies, i.e., family network, attachment figures & friendship ties; not excluding the juicy konkonsa ooo😂😂😂. Also it'd be great to compare & contrast your experiences with the likes of those living in the nearby estates & your little rivalries. Great shout out to your grandpa for leaving such a legacy! His memory lives on in you all. And what a lovely wife you hv, with such a captivating smile!! No wonder you fell head over heels in love with her❤😊 Mmo..Mo ayɛ adeɛ paa. Onyame nhyira mo beberee😂🙏🏾😇 From a social Auntie!!!!🤞🏾👌🏾👍🏾👏🏽

    Redflag, let me save your money for you, and you're an adult--so many people that feel they would come to the West from other areas of the world, find themselves entangled with people who profess that they will help them when those peoples only intend to help themselves (unfortunately family is no exception)

    • @MickeyAgyei
      @MickeyAgyei  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MickeyAgyei Stories like this and stories of people from the West sending money back home to family and others to help them re-establish themselves back at home, and the monies being misused are plentiful. It is sad that far too often as a people, some force keeps us away from truly being our brothers' keeper. Imagine what a difference it would be if people made these promises and honored them

    How Is this fustrating nd sad....smh....he was just not lucky and he is in no position to advice whether to travel or not...like I always say,some people will still suffer even when u take them to heaven...how do you even ask if ghana is better than london...no profession pays better in Ghana done london ...from football to doctor to the cleaner...so why do you even say this .....just say if you are travelling without proper documentation dont come....but to generalize it is soo mischievous and deceitful because every profession u hold in Ghana if you can hold that same profession in london your life will be far better....yes I know it's not easy abroad...but at least you can pay your Bill's if you work....in Ghana ur salary cant even pay your Bill's....guys shut up and work pls....and travel with papers ....
