Moving to Ghana or Africa is a gamble many will wish to take. But I have a strong feeling for most of us, it will be a gamble we wish we took earlier. Hello everyone, thank you for your feedback and engagement on this video.
To provide further clarity, I will like to state that though Mr Appiah arrived at the Kotoka airport with £200 as the title states, he'd already built an income generating system in a form of his guesthouse in Ghana. Him and his wife built their house with their income from TFL and NHS and later converted it to a guesthouse. And later used the proceeds to expand.
Just in case anyone is wondering how they managed to build their properties.

I also always used to visit home every year and bought a home and bought land so I get the importance of putting plans in place before making the move. I have also bought equipment to sell food. Although I would still move with faith and with nothing if the spirit moves to do so. God will always make a way. When I took my kids to my home village Botswana 🇧🇼 for a year to learn about my culture, family and friends nearly chopped my head off calling me crazy 😅wondered why we as Africans are underestimating our own culture and belonging 😂
His insights are right on! After many years in the diaspora, you start to long for home. You have to make a decision and if you choose to come home, plan and accept Ghana for what it is. Come and add what you have to offer.

The gentleman spoke for many of us who can relate to his experience. Living in the Diaspora can be both exciting and challenging! The first years you have the excitement of an explorer and the later years you start to be reflective about life, because the dream we were sold about living in the Diaspora starts to fade as the reality of life in the Diaspora begins to destroy your soul and spirit!!! You start to ask yourself about the meaning of life and the importance of identity, dignity, the love of family and the desire for a sense of belonging. You start to realise that as a foreigner you can never be fully accepted. That’s when you appreciate how great home is!! I am also ashamed to say that I should have returned home to Africa a long time ago! I am not from Ghana but I can say hand on heart that home is best! Africa is a place of love, family, community, healing and acceptance.

Say less. God willing in a few months I will be back home too in Southern Africa. There is a certain hollowness that comes with living in the US or Western world. It dehumanizes us to a certain extent. Living with neighbors who do not say hello to each other, work places where ther is some degree of hostility sucks your energy. Thank God i work from home but still I felt this brother. The crazy thing is the comforts of the Western world can really provide a counter force to your move so you just have to move on faith. Above all being around people like you, who understand you and genuinely care and love each other is priceless. Kudos to a man who speaks candidly. And kudos to you to sis because like him you speak the truth about how most diasporans feel.

I moved to Gh 2013 with my family, but moved back to the UK after 2 years due to improper planning and very bad health care scare experience.
Sorry to hear that. Sometimes things don't go according to plan. You just have to regroup and go again.
This amazing hotel has been adjudged one star hotel of the year(the whole Ghana) 2019.

I have lived abroad over 4 decades. Most people would like to return but they don't have the finances and business to help them return.

True but as a fellow diasporan ready to go home it speaks to the lack of planning. As this man said, at some point whether it is 5 or 10 years you have to have a vision of how you want your future looks and then shape your current lifestyle to achieve that. The most important and also hardest is to accumulate savings towards that goal.

I Have 7 Years To Retired In USA With Lifetime Lifetime PENSION In 7 Years Time. I Bought 6 Plots Of Lands In 2020 In Africa. I Fenced It And Start Building 12 Bungalows 3 Bedrooms And 2.5 Bathrooms Gradually On My 6 Plots Lands In West Africa. I Changed My Way Of Spending In USA 🇺🇸 My House And Car In USA Is Paid Off With No Mortgage And Rent Free. My Only Focus Now Is To Continue Building My Mini 12 Bungalows Gated Community In Africa. I Stopped All Those African Parties. I Am In My 50s. My Only Child Will Be Done With Her Registered Nursing Degree in 2 Years.

You can’t tell Me you’ve immigrated to somewhere for work or something, and later find it hard to come to your country. Is not normal for me and the sad reality is that most of them will die there

One pronounced one is Yaa Asantewaa of the Ashanti kingdom and many other kings from various African countries. So is a big thing and people shouldn’t take traveling out of their country as normal. if you’re not lucky, you’ll die there
@@Oyzatt I spoke to a lady yesterday who migrated from Africa to UK and not particularly enjoying it. She puts her feelings into words by saying, she wish she didn't even taste the life abroad. Cos once you are in the system, it seems to grab you with it's tentacles. All of a sudden you start to consider a whole lot of factors in your quest to return.
That's why I say it's complicated.
@@MickeyAgyei Well this man said it all and also the person who told you of the struggle to please the soul or body was correct. The ease of living in the West puts you in some sort of coma and you can easily lose a sense of purpose. Majority of us including native born Westerners live a rut, a mundane lifestyle. The reason most will not move back is because they lack the mental stamina to actually sit down and see what it takes to move back. A lot of us have good jobs so money is not so much of an excuse, however our spending habits are especially because most of us again live paycheck to paycheck tyring to live it up. This man provided valuable lessons for those with ears to hear and who want to take action.

To relocate, except you have 1. an enormous savings to buy a house with that you are going to stay in or 2. have well to do relatives willing to afford you same, you must have monthly earning, preferably in forex until you settle and have your own business locally.

My suggestion is that if he'd come earlier, he would not have made it where he is now. Everything has it's season and time. This time was God's time.
Also back home, stress is just too much from relatives left, right and centre. Some of them want you to pay fees for their 4 children, one has 3 another 2. Who can pay fees for 9 children when you came home to rest and enjoy your life? Some relatives demand. Some have worked but never saved or prepared for retirement. I met a retired teacher in Zim with no house or car. He asked himself during our chat "where have I been all these years?" So sad honestly. I acquired 3 health professional qualifications with a degree. My 29 yrs experience working in the community in London I use it to assess children with special needs and advise parents how to help their child to reach their full potential. Some I do it for free cis they can't afford to pay. Also I do decor for celebrations now and again which I enjoy very much. Thank you and stay blessed. Zim/UK.
What you said about family demands is very true!
My problem with going back to the African continent is , what is the state of the Health system.? How would we be treated as persons that was not born in Africa.who also does not speak the language. Will someone explain.
You can get the best health care in Ghana if you have enough money to pay. My solution is to always have a plane ticket worth savings in your account to travel back to where you moved from for conditions that require complex procedures.
Let them go and find out because no matter what you tell them, it won't mean much.

Brilliant interview I got the house already, got about 25000 pounds in the bank, got a little pension from my job, say 300 pounds a month. Why I asked myself am I still here, missing a life before I came to the UK. Guys, honestly, would you pack your bags? As am getting depressed here in the UK.
Just have a plan in place and research the viability of your plans. Lots of opportunities but system can be very frustrating and only the tough ones stay to take them.
You can make it if you won't give up.
Then you are ready to say bye bye 👋 to the UK, there literally is no point of being there.

Solar can be expensive and only holds power for a limited amount of time depending on your capacity.

There is more clarity in the video than the title suggests. He put together a system (a guesthouse converted from his own house) which meant he didn't need a lot of physical cash on arrival.
Yeah i think the 200 pounds was not much of a factor. He already set up the guest house to give him cash flow but the interviewer did not focus a lot on that point which i think was critical.
He have more than that my brother bus driver in London wife is NHS worker I don't believe him 200 pounds.
He said they had already started their business that was giving them money everyday.That is the guest house

Great interview, but i think your title is very sensational.This man would not have have moved to Ghana, if 1: if he did not get the opportunity to work for TFL and his wife also having a job in NHS. If you want to leave everything and move back to a corrupt country like Ghana, you need to be established and if you don't have strong genuine people or your spouse to support you, please live where you are in Europe, USA and Canada and keep your sanity.
Yet you travel to holiday destinations whose first language is not English. Most African countries you will find people that speak English. When Europeans moved into America did they have good healthcare? No, you have to build to improve want you want. If the need is there there will be an enterprising person that will meet the demand.

What is Ghana's language ?
There are about 80 languages in Ghana but some of the common ones are Twi (various types), Ga and Ewe and many more. But I think you can get around most places with Twi.

The video is too slow and long and the questions from interviewer aren't critical nor riveting and as for the man being interviewed, he isn't really forthcoming.
