    “You can be fat, and still strong” - David Tate
    Personal feedback:
    This is spot on. I hope it encourages anyone that comes across this video. There’s nothing like getting over our own limitations; if body issue is one, this will motivate you in realizing otherwise. I’ve also recently (after an extended break) incorporated HLR and it’s working. The marshmallow is turning into a rock, even if my body fat isn’t quite there. Godspeed to you all.
    Con Paz

    • @Jay-we2ek
      @Jay-we2ek 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Too much, too soon springs to mind. How can you train properly if your legs are destroyed for five days? You'd be better off doing a few sets each time to get volume over a week, rather than all in one day. Killing yourself on one day won't achieve anything.

  • @KJL00

    Never ignore training your core. When I started training I did next to no core work. I did it but I had no idea how to properly do it. Now I train core almost everyday in continuous time intervals varying between several different exercises (scissors, flutter kicks, hanging leg raises, rocky reverse crunches, crunch and twist, russian v tucks, elbow to knee tucks, jackknifes, etc.) I also throw in some weighted ab work. As soon as I started gaining core strength, my squats started going up quickly. I can now do working sets above my body weight. This only took a couple of months.

  • @BodybyBiggie

    YESSSS!!! I have been waiting for this since you announced this series. I'm with Dave, squat > bench > deadlift! Have never thought of hanging leg raises as being instrumental in squatting, definitely going to include this now. Can't wait for technique vid. Thanks for the content.

    Ol boy is doing his best to keep it as basic as possible yet I guarantee he's still going over most people's heads. My motto is first listen, then implement, last improve. So basically even if I don't completely understand I'm going to start following directive to the best of my ability. After putting the routines into my workout I begin to understand what the individual is trying to convey much better. Lastly once I have a comprehensive understanding it's time to take all the principles and apply them to the maxxxxxxxx 😄👍👍👍

  • @dradeel

    I love the ending remark. "How to improve? Do the exercise properly, and that's why we'll talk technique tomorrow!" Kinda reminds me of Mark Rippetoe: "How to improve your squat? You squat!" It's true, though. People want some kinda solution to their problem, not realizing their problem is their solution. They just don't know how. That's why in depth technique instructions from seasoned vets are so important. Looking forward to see the video on squat technique!

    Agreed pauses front squats are some of the hardest things I’ve done in the gym. Full Front rack, 225 for 5 second pauses in the bottom for 5-8 reps. Lungs burning, hammies dead, quads on fire... and a day later your abs feel like you went 10 rounds with rocky. The problem comes down to a lot of people’s upper back is so tight they can’t get into a front rack position, like you just caught a clean. Most people think it’s tight shoulders lack of wrist flexibility when I’m fact it’s tight lats and people don’t know how to keep the upper body tight, and get there elbows
    Up or can’t because their lats are just to tight.

    • @Magnus_Loov
      @Magnus_Loov 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My problem isn't tight lats or lack of flexibility. It is just that I fatigue in the upper back (Chest-back) way before anything else if doing higher reps than 5 with the result that I lean more and more forward and loose the proper form.
      I just can't imagine doing the 10-15 reps he suggested. Although I go to the bottom and with a slight pause there( and with a relaxed clean grip, no crossed arms).
      I feel like that the front Squat isn't something that you are supposed to do high reps with if you compare it to, say, normal squats.

    John and Dave, When you mentioned Different stances and squatting, I got to thinking about what both of you think about parallel squats vs "ass to grass" style squats. I am more comfortable with the "ass to grass" style as it seems to take the load off my knees and puts it directly onto the glutes and quads. Man, I'm learning so much lately from you and Dave I can't keep up!
