Just got the OX Stomp for my Roland JC-40. Totally adds a new dimension of sound above the traditional sound of the DI output. Sounds pretty incredible. It would be great if there was a Roland JC cabinet offered, for a more authentic JC sound, but pretty much any of the existing 2x12 cabs does the trick and sounds awesome.
Dear UA Team if you are reading this: please also add a desktop app like the OX Box has. Tweaking there is what made the OX Box so great. Furthermore please also add the graphic eq and the possibility to also store separate presets for reverb, delay, compression and eq - just like the OX Box app offers… Thanks, Christopher

Synth demos, please. Love running my synths, samplers, drum machines thru the Ocean Way Studios rooms or the Dream 65 cabs, so I can imagine the Ox takes them further. Miss the UA Office Hours crew.
This sounds really great. I think we are almost there. Would love to see a product line where there is this version and then a seperate version that houses: Amps / Speaker emulators / Audio Interface with knobs and faders to control everything that works inside of a DAW / desktop app. An entire studio at your fingertips with world class sound. Would be expensive but would pay up for something that is streamlined and all in one. Man that would be so so great.
If you already have a Dream, it seems cumbersome to buy another pedal and double the footprint on your board. Would’ve been more exciting to have a firmware update with additional cabs, like Walrus did recently with the ACS1.
I love the sound of this box but.... Unfortunately, the app is almost impossible to use. I tried it with a current iPad and an Android phone. Using the faders on both is a disgrace. The controls sometimes jump completely uncontrollably when operating or scrolling in the app. It is almost impossible to make precise settings. You can't enter a numerical value either. If only you could at least see numerically what you have set. It's the same problem on iOS and Android. What's going wrong? Please fix your mobile app or at least release a desktop app 😢
Would really love the mics/cabs from Dream 65 and Ruby to be added to the Ox. There’s no 4x10 super reverb etc. whereas they are available in the amp pedals. Would be great if we unlock these upon registration like previous pedals or something. Love the original ox and waiting for my stomp today!
Have to say that despite negative comments above, I have been using it for a week now and absolutely love it. All sounds are amazing and usable, and the app is working well on my elderly iPad. A superb piece of kit and really don’t understand the negative comments above. Not my experience at all.
The only thing missing is power amp emulation. I use a lot of various preamps (Synergy, pedals, Victory V4, tube heads up etc). I use the Two Notes CAB M+ because the power amp emulation really is the complete sound. I love the way OX sounds but it’s just not a finished product for me. Having said that, it could be an excellent companion to ToneX!
@@spada60 you totally could, and probably get great results. But the power amp section is where you get things like tube sag, compression, presence control, and even power amp distortion. That’s why I said ToneX with this Ox pedal could be amazing because ToneX captures often have the pre and power amps captured in conjunction.
It just killed off the Strymon Iridium in my mind. 🤯👏 Especially given the new UA Lion box. That & the Ruby & they both kill the S.I., albeit I bought the S.I. specifically for their beautiful room tones.
Why is there no desktop app to control this? It's an absolute must to get to the features it offers. I'd love to buy the pedal but i wouldn't use a phone to control it or to control any of my music gear for that matter and have zero interest in a tablet. Just seems crazy there isn't a desktop app. Surely it's your core market?
u gotta make your home wifi network name crazy long so OX can “find” it amidst the 30 or hoever many other wifi networks you’re probably surrounded by. my network name is like 15 characters long… I had to lengthen it four or five times since I own the ox so far the last one I named it has lasted for pretty long time but I know if it won’t pick it up again I’m just gonna have to add some more characters to the name. thats it. i’m not talking about your password. Mine is very short I’m talking literally about the name of your Wi-Fi network.
The sound is awesome but there is margin for improvement on the app. You can change the settings without noticing while scrolling up and down the settings. On the eq you cannot see the value for each setting. You just change settings but you cannot see the values for them. I miss a desktop version. You must keep your iphone active all the time to avoid losing the connection with the pedal. Sometimes, the app refuses to reconnect.
Will you guys ever do a Native "OX" plugin of that ? The amp sim pedals would be great too but just the cabs/speakers dynamic emulator would be a very good start as a native plugin for those that only want to use it in the studio and during mixing, without having to deal with a pedal. Especially for mixing you want to try different settings IN the DAW without having to convert to analog to use the pedal and then back to the computer... For studio use a plugin is a WAY better workflow if you already DI your guitars. thanks
How can i monitor the input level of the pedal? I don`t know how to set the output of my loadbox or multieffects units so Ox Stomp gets a usable level. Help would be appreciated, thank you.
Agree with the comments here. The pedal is wonderful. The app is shit. Needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. Unintuitive, responds weirdly. Very bad UX, like somebody just wanted to do it quickly and slapped components together. Needs a desktop alternative. Thinking hard whether to return it because of this, or whether I can just "set it and forget" and only use the physical controls... Also what's up with the effects section? In Golden we get so many specifics as to what reverb type it is... Here it's just "reverb, compression..." Very generic, confusing, no idea why I would use them instead of my other pedals or effects in DAW. Which just comes back to the "bad ux" side of things. And yes, it really feels now like your product teams are just trying to put out as many separate pedals as you can, with zero feature updates coming to these otherwise incredibly flexible and powerful platforms.
Any good designer could fix this in minutes. Mile long sliders? Why? Replace them with compact circular Knobs, which visually correspond to the pedal artstyle. Suddenly no more pointless scrolling. Even visually designing it as an extension of the physical pedal, similar to how you can "open" your Lexicon224 in DAW. This could be a masterpiece, and instead you choose to create the impression of deliberately creating an annoying mobile app, just to force the use of one. You can still fix this! Redesign the entire UAFX app. Make it look like an extended, "slide out" version of the corresponding pedals. Add amazing information about the history behind the effects and cabs, how they were made, about the unusual ways they were used... Make desktop version, allow for a BT+ USB connection. It can be a combined control, exploration and learning tool, expanding on the UA brand, not abusing it. I'll be happy to consult you if you choose to make it happen.
I have a question. I see many people demoing this with a preamp pedal directly connected into the ux stomp. But shouldnt they use also a power amp? Does the stomp emulate power amp?
I'm a full on UA Fanboi and have many, many products but...........UA, Can you PLEASE get this app in a condition where it is not "laggy" while dragging levels and where it will work on a desktop via bluetooth or USB while plugged in? This will be SO much better with those two things addressed.
You can turn off the cab for one side Mic 1 (set it to DI) and pan it hard right, and then send Mic 2 hard left. But you can't maintain stereo this way. Hopefully we get your meaning here. Let us know.

Whose brilliant idea was it to have shipped these WITHOUT a desktop app?!??! Also, the idea to give each "crowd" a couple of dedicated types of cabs/speakers just means you're going to end up sonically alienating everyone. what would have made infinitely more sense would have been for you make the cab/speakers downloadable. That way the new user could totally tailor the unit to his individual needs/tastes rather than just having to "make-do" with one or two stock cab/speaker combos.

To have all the options on mic positioning would be great, i mean upper or lower or close or far and rear too :) i usually used to mic on the rear to smooth the sound. The 'room' is not the same. I bought one of these this week but as usual i'm having issues connecting via usb and bluetooth, neither work!!! I also have the Ruby which cinnects via bluetooth but not usb. How have these left the factory when they don't work? There are so many people with the same issues. May have to go back to Axe-Fx as they work fine.

OX Stomp replaces everything BUT the amp. So once you've gone through your amp (line level only) or an amp modeler device, OX Stomp takes over and emulated the cab/mic/room/effects for a perfect studio sound.
Hi there Is it not possible to make changes via bluetooth? Otherwise I will need to take my OX Stomp off my board every time I wan't to make changes. And how about changing the name of the preset I made changes to?
Yes, but I can only do it when the pedal is connected to my computer. Or I can have a cable connected permanly from the of the pedal to my computer. No wireless option?
Just saw that under Bluetooth, it is already connected, but it still says that I need to reconnect the pedal, when I press the OX in the app. Is it something on the pedal I shall activate?@@UniversalAudio
This pedal looks like the answer to my dreams ive has for quite a while! But I must know, is it possible, or WILL it be possible with a firmware update to run duel mono? The stereo rig I use I like to have two different cabs running at the same time from two different amps to give a nice blend of tone. Being able to use two seperate cabs with this at the same time would seal the deal!
Such a pity these require an app for full use, and don't have midi. If they broadcast a webpage for control, over ethernet, that would (presumably) be a lot more future compatible than an app. And I don't get the lack of MIDI. I can only guess they're planning on a more fully featured multi-fx at some time in the future.
You CAN connect headphones directly to them with a Y cable (although for some this is not loud enough), or better yet, get a Volt and it'll act as headphone amp and DI box for feeding a PA etc.
Awesome video. I just bought a whole bunch of UAFX pedals. I'm going into a power cab by line six and I was just curious in what order do I put some pedals? I have the dream pedal, The ox stomp, and a golden reverberator. If I want to use the delays from the ox stomp and the reverbs from the reverberator what order would I put them in? Would it go dream first, ox stomp, and then reverberator and then FRFR cab?
FX pedals can go before the amp sim or after. It's really a personal choice and there is no right answer. FX after the amp give a more "studio" style result, whereas in front of the amp sim is more "pedal style"
"pedal style" is the effect, typically in mono, in front of the amp such that effect is happening before the amp does its thing. This is how pedals have been used for decades. "studio style" is after the amp, often in stereo and is more like what happens in the studio when effects are added to guitar tracks that have already been recorded. In some cases, it would hard to tell the difference, in others if could be fairly obvious. Hope this helps.
No headphone jack, no purchase. Ridiculous decision by UA, and please don't think that the solution is to use an additional connector because that doesn't work for anything other than cheap headphones.
Still sorely missing midi cc controllability and not a fan of the overlap of all these pedals, makes it difficult to be hyped for new releases. I'm hoping the future brings better things, give me midi and some downloadable (make them paid content for all I care) algorithms and I'll be a happy camper. With such a huge lineup of effects in the UA plugin library I'm confused as to why you all are releasing pedals without such overlap. I'm sure you have your reasons, but I'm just saying you could sell more pedals than you are already doing. And I know it's easy to judge a game from the sideline, for now I'll just assume that UA wants to but can't.
UA - Bluetooth connectivity is terrible - iOS and Android equally bad. Your support user portal is frustrating - you force the customer into a needless rabbit hole with a chatbot which resists actually creating a support ticket. The hardware sounds great but your support and support software are terrible.
To reamp do i run cables from the line level outputs on my audio interface, into the inputs of the OX, and cables from the output of the ox to the inputs of the audio interface? And for that last part (if I have all of this correct ) do I use the instrument level inputs on the front of my interface from the ox OR the line level inputs? If I have that wrong, let me know. Lastly, Do I then hit record in my DAW on a new empty track to playback the already recorded clean guitar track (which is sent through the OX) to record a new reamped track? Any help here would be much appreciated.

i don't understand. why can't you use the Ox stomp with your Victory V4 it's a preamp. I thought this ox stomp was made for especially preamps

It accepts line or instrument level with no gain controls. If you run your load box at 3/4, you'll be good to go.

Yes, power amp interactions with the speaker are modeled, so a clean power amp or an FRFR cab is the right pairing.

Sure, you can use the EQ to tame things a bit and a touch of the room mics can help here as well.

Not directly, but if you add a UA Volt, you can easily do this.

Do these pedals replace an amp? Can I connect and record a guitar direct to an Apollo and get these sounds?
OX Stomp replaces everything BUT the amp. So once you've gone through your amp (line level only) or an amp modeler device, OX Stomp takes over and emulated the cab/mic/room/effects for a perfect studio sound.

Yes, but I can only do it when the pedal is connected to my computer. Or I can have a cable connected permanly from the of the pedal to my computer. No wireless option?

Just saw that under Bluetooth, it is already connected, but it still says that I need to reconnect the pedal, when I press the OX in the app. Is it something on the pedal I shall activate?@@UniversalAudio

No, OX Stomp is not simple IRs. It uses our dynamic speaker modeling.
This pedal looks like the answer to my dreams ive has for quite a while! But I must know, is it possible, or WILL it be possible with a firmware update to run duel mono?
The stereo rig I use I like to have two different cabs running at the same time from two different amps to give a nice blend of tone. Being able to use two seperate cabs with this at the same time would seal the deal!

Such a pity these require an app for full use, and don't have midi.
If they broadcast a webpage for control, over ethernet, that would (presumably) be a lot more future compatible than an app.
And I don't get the lack of MIDI. I can only guess they're planning on a more fully featured multi-fx at some time in the future.

You CAN connect headphones directly to them with a Y cable (although for some this is not loud enough), or better yet, get a Volt and it'll act as headphone amp and DI box for feeding a PA etc.

Awesome video. I just bought a whole bunch of UAFX pedals. I'm going into a power cab by line six and I was just curious in what order do I put some pedals? I have the dream pedal, The ox stomp, and a golden reverberator. If I want to use the delays from the ox stomp and the reverbs from the reverberator what order would I put them in?
Would it go dream first, ox stomp, and then reverberator and then FRFR cab?
FX pedals can go before the amp sim or after. It's really a personal choice and there is no right answer. FX after the amp give a more "studio" style result, whereas in front of the amp sim is more "pedal style"

"pedal style" is the effect, typically in mono, in front of the amp such that effect is happening before the amp does its thing. This is how pedals have been used for decades. "studio style" is after the amp, often in stereo and is more like what happens in the studio when effects are added to guitar tracks that have already been recorded. In some cases, it would hard to tell the difference, in others if could be fairly obvious. Hope this helps.
No headphone jack, no purchase. Ridiculous decision by UA, and please don't think that the solution is to use an additional connector because that doesn't work for anything other than cheap headphones.

Still sorely missing midi cc controllability and not a fan of the overlap of all these pedals, makes it difficult to be hyped for new releases. I'm hoping the future brings better things, give me midi and some downloadable (make them paid content for all I care) algorithms and I'll be a happy camper. With such a huge lineup of effects in the UA plugin library I'm confused as to why you all are releasing pedals without such overlap. I'm sure you have your reasons, but I'm just saying you could sell more pedals than you are already doing. And I know it's easy to judge a game from the sideline, for now I'll just assume that UA wants to but can't.
DO NOT buy this thing. The app is a complete failure even without the dreaded connectivity problems.
UA - Bluetooth connectivity is terrible - iOS and Android equally bad. Your support user portal is frustrating - you force the customer into a needless rabbit hole with a chatbot which resists actually creating a support ticket. The hardware sounds great but your support and support software are terrible.

To reamp do i run cables from the line level outputs on my audio interface, into the inputs of the OX, and cables from the output of the ox to the inputs of the audio interface? And for that last part (if I have all of this correct ) do I use the instrument level inputs on the front of my interface from the ox OR the line level inputs? If I have that wrong, let me know. Lastly, Do I then hit record in my DAW on a new empty track to playback the already recorded clean guitar track (which is sent through the OX) to record a new reamped track? Any help here would be much appreciated.
