    I regret not getting the roadlite, instead bought the pathlite at the outlet for 1 k plus , ended up selling it for 1.3 k so made profit , bought an all city super professional ss & very happy with it , even went from single speed to gears ⚙️ 1 x11 sram eagle, I have plans to get me the roadlite once it becomes available, chain rub is due to cross chaining, thers 4 clicks on the left shifter to avoid cross chain, click up or midway to avoid the problem or go to a bike shop , I have 3 bikes , giant fast road sl 3 , similar to the roadlite (105 ) but Claris drivetrain , all city & a REI co op cty 3.1 as my winter bike , gotta wait till March or may to order my roadlite , thanks for the video , need a roadlite , upgrade to wtb pure saddle, you won’t regret it & get a carbon seat post & handlebars for better bike experience used

      Wow, thank you so much for the info. Actually, I was looking for a saddle I will definitely take note of the WTB pure saddle. no more budget for the seatpost and handle bars. maybe next year. 😀The cross chaining was explained with my friend who is doing road bike for quite a while and I didn't get it.lol. I will observe that and do what you recommend. This is my first road bike and currently, I just had like less than 100km on it.

      @@robertd.5479 I don't have a pathlite but we do have hardtails. If you are running 90% on paved trails I would go for roadlite. It's lighter and more efficient. I tried the roadlite in dirt and gravel but not crazy rooty or technical trail and bike can handle it. Hope that helps.

    Great video!
    I'm thinking on buying the roadlite 7, to use mainly for street roads, but I'd like to have the possibility to go to some moutain trails (not too harsh). Do you think your roadlite 6 could handle it? I weight 100Kg. I can go with the Grand Canyon 7 that seems a great bike too, proper for any road, but I'm not sure if the extra 4Kg of the bike could slow down very much in daily commute to work.
    Thanks for the content!

    • @MichaelJobLoquellano
      @MichaelJobLoquellano  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't have it all. For commute yes the roadlite is great but for mountain bike trails like with roots no it's not designed for that. Packed gravel is fine. The grand canyon in a paved path is slow because it has wider tires but will do the work for both paved and mountain bike trails.

    I've had a 2021 Roadlite 6 for 2 1/2 years, done around 10,000 miles on it commuting to and from work in all seasons on mostly flat roads in London. It's a great commuter bike, has required very little maintenance (just now changing some pitted axles, done a few chains, inner tubes, cables, tyres and brake pads as you'd expect). Flat bars are great in London traffic, I use the lightweight Canyon mudguards, it's tough enough for the inevitable accident. I prefer the 2022 model's 2x11 Shimano 105 to the newer 2024 version's Deore 1x12 but that's just personal, as I never use the small front cog, I just like the close ratios at the rear. Gears do need occasional adjustment if you want them super-smooth and noise-free, it's quite a tight tolerance to get it past the front deraillieur cleanly in both 1st and 11th. The G-One Speed tyres are great for roads, I run them around 70psi with tubes. The hydraulic brakes are basic but excellent: if you're on roads you don't need upgrades and it means pads and replacement discs are pretty cheap, but after 2.5 years and 10k miles in all weathers the caliper pistons look like they need a service to get full free movement again. It's fast if you want it to be, well balanced. Had an issue with the inner sleeve of the rear deraillier working it way up through the hidden cable run and snagging on the frame exit which made gear changing a bit messy until I figured it out but otherwise very nice to ride. The saddle was uncomfortable to start with but after a couple of months it was super-comfortable so it's just something to get used to, particularly if you've had cheap/spongy saddles before. Definitely worth picking up second hand, you can do all the maintenance yourself if you're competent.

    • @MichaelJobLoquellano
      @MichaelJobLoquellano  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow 10k miles to commute to work in less than 3 years so that's really worth it. Yeah, i change the saddle to WTB, they are great. Good that you know the basic maintenance. The bike is not the fastest but for a commute it's great.

    Nice video, thanks. My Roadlite arrived yesterday and was slightly damaged (front brake). In this case you can put it all back together again and re-box it and wait for canyon to send a courier then fix it and send it back so you can reassemble it and hope it’s ok this time. Or you can take it to your local bike shop and Canyon will pay towards the repair of your brand-new bike. Unfortunately my local bike shops all have a two week wait so I’ve got a brand-new unrideable bike at the moment. We need to take this into account when buying bikes off the Internet.

    I am in a very similiar situation as you. I have always used a mountain bike for everything - commuting, touring, trails etc. Now I want to give this bike a try but I am unsure if i'll displeased with the bumpy and harsh ride that comes with skinnier tires and higher pressures. Now, after 3-4 months of use, are you happy with the bike and would you recommend it?

    • @MichaelJobLoquellano
      @MichaelJobLoquellano  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Very happy. I took this to a packed gravel and so far no suspension is all good with me. aside from the sound during cross chaining which is on and off and the original seat I was very pleased with this bike. I had a max speed on it; 61km on strava and it was very manageable.😀 I would recommend this bike if you do 90% paved trail. I have tried in dirt (no roots) and packed gravel can't complain.

    This bike was really easy to assemble th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.

      @MichaelJobLoquellano  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Best to go to your local bikeshop and have a fit test to determine which size works for you or if flatbar suits your situation. If you purchase roadlite 5 from overseas it might be a hassle to return it if it does not work. To be honest, after riding this bike for one season I prefer my son's roabike with a dropbars. Drop bars have lots of options to position your body and I like it better especially riding for 30kms or more.

      I have the Roadlite 7 from 2020 in size L and I found the position to be quite agressive for a hybrid. I raised the cockpit by installing a stem riser and a shorter stem with a +6 angle. It also depends on where you are in the sizing range and whether you have relatively long legs.

      Shipping is CAD 99 for all bikes. Plus $29 bike guard/box and 13% custom fee. I think I paid less than $100 for the custom fee/brokerage fee. 😀

    How tall are you and what size you bought?

    • @MichaelJobLoquellano
      @MichaelJobLoquellano  ปีที่แล้ว

      5'2" short. 😄 I bought the XS. There should be a height recommendation on each size. you can also find your size on their website with your height and inner leg length but could be tricky...

      @@MichaelJobLoquellano My measurements are just between S and XS, just by changing the inner leg length by 1 cm. What do you think, would the S or XS make more sense here?

      @ToRlrk i am 158cm and XS is perfect for me. If you are taller than that i would god for small but check the standover and reach as well. Those are the most important measurements.

    Hi, is the ride really that stiff?

    • @MichaelJobLoquellano
      @MichaelJobLoquellano  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you mean. It rides the same as made road bikes. There is no suspension on this bike.

    What’s it weigh?

    4:55 this is the reason people don’t use dropbar, because every casual cyclist believes you need to dress up like a noodle to ride them. I tend to laugh at them, laugh loud next time you see one.

      Update: Sold my Roadlite and replaced it with a dropbars. lol biking is a journey you start from somewhere. After I found out both of my sons smoke me with their roadbikes/dropbars i have to catch up with them. :)
