I have a yj that I bought new in California . I still have it with only 14000 miles, I have the same problem that you had with the door latch . I will try your fix by bending the latch with a screwdriver. I now live in Ireland. Mine is a Sahara and in new condition. Liked your video

some jakass stole my 94yj steel half doorsa few days ago...with the almost new blk Rampage upper skinson them. im flippin heartbroken. and also mad as hell.i rareley take te doors off even in the summer. now im rolling nydaily driver around with no doors right at the begining of winter!!
good as always to see ur vid on aother alternative i had notof known about. any way im lookinfor to dofor super cheap to get me by for a few mos while i tryacd save enough chage to buy sume used full skin doors ..il never be able to afford the steel yj halves again. never realized how epensive they are.so anyway your the best man..peace

Maybe I didn't explain it to well I replaced the ignition key in the steering wheel but now I have no keys to lock the door since I replaced the key is there anyway I can replace the door key for to use my ignition key
Only choices I can think of is either use your old key for the doors. Or, have a locksmith rekey your doors to work with your new ignition key. Somewhere on the internet I think I once seen where a person could purchase ignition and all locks with the same key as a set. I dont remember where though.

How do you go about changing the door lock the key lock how you go about doing that and getting a new key
I dont have a new set of locks. But I can demonstrate how to remove and reinstall using the locks in the doors now. Usually when you buy new door locks they come with the key. Thanks for dropping in again!! Have a great day!

I agree. When I get the chance to do that I will. All the rigs I have access too are the injected models.
To prevent this from happening...Lubricate/oil all the rods, latches, everything....Besides the wear factor the reason why that lever jumps over the latch as its forcing all the mechanism's.....as I have learned...the hard way...........

This literally just happened to me at work outside handle sticks out, had to reach in through the small window to open the door. Then minutes later my engine light came on code 12 and 46.
Like always i thumb up on your videos. Still hopeful you do a video of the emergency brake cable replacement and now a brake caliper upgrade.
Glad you were able to get in your Jeep! Luckily I fixed that handle before it tried to lock me out. I'll do an ebrake cable vid eventually because my 1991 needs one. I just can't promise when that will happen. For the YJs there really isn't a decent caliper upgrade other than the Gran Cherokee WJ upgrade. But, that involves swapping the whole steering knuckle and other steering parts. I will be doing that to project Rust Bucket, but it will be probably next summer before that happens. I'm not one of the rich TH-camrs, I still work a clock-in & clock-out job and do TH-cam on the side. One day I hope to be doing TH-cam full time so I'll have the time to make lots more videos :-). Hi, I have a CJ, TJ question I hope you can answer. Will a CJ7 body fit on a TJ frame?
Take a mig welder and add a little metal to that door actuator so wont crawl over the metal part you're banging on with a screwdriver
I was thinking the same and grind to fit with dremel tool. However Chuck made it work w/o dragging out the mig. Nice job!

Zero rust. But shot leafsprings. I'll be doing Chuck's bastard spring mod this spring. John Nutters Carter carb bypass. And probably Chuck's Split axle fix.
@@lynnrecic4946 your rig sounds sweet. I have an 87 y j with carb too but couldn't get it pass the smog police so I went with an Howell FI. Now it passes easy but system was pricey, had no choice due to their approved fed and California system with AS. The springs on my YJ are shot too even the wife has noticed .
